Harry and Megan have just announced their new baby's name.

What's everyone's thoughts?

@AlmostSummer21

Absolutely disgraceful.

I expected more from Harry.

Diana etc is fine. It was his mum! But to use Lilibet with the way he's behaved is disgraceful.

Absolutely. They have a nerve.

@DelilahTheParrot get pregnant?

LOL @ all the people think they haven't had the Queen's blessing for using the name before they announced it.

It's a lovely name, very sweet. Maybe the Queen is just as disgusted with Charles and William as Harry is but hasn't been so open..? Just a thought.

Arbadacarba · 06/06/2021 17:23

I like Lilibet as a name.

PenguinIce · 06/06/2021 17:24

Love the name and fingers crossed it will mend some bridges on both sides.

PegasusReturns · 06/06/2021 17:24

I think it’s quite strange to name your baby the nickname of a still living relative. Not sure why. Although i suppose it’s because nicknames are just so personal.

Lesartisansetlessansculottes · 06/06/2021 17:24

I think the name Lillibet is awful. It's the "bet" at the end.
I think that's just me though, I speak French and it sounds like the word for stupid or beast! Nice that they used Diana. Hopefully they'll call her Lilli.

itsjustlowhangingfruit · 06/06/2021 17:24

@SunbathingDragon

Interesting that Buckingham Palace has continued its recent trend to not comment or acknowledge H&M which seems to so far extend to their daughter’s birth. If the name was that much of a touching tribute, I would have expected them to make some sort of announcement. After all, Princess Charlotte (whose name is almost identical in terms of sentiment) was formally greeted.
I suspect the RF found out the same time we did
dorangme · 06/06/2021 17:24

@osbertthesyrianhamster so you do care about a random stranger than you don't know. Coolio

BIWI · 06/06/2021 17:24

@osbertthesyrianhamster

Yes. Surely we should all be grateful for the safe delivery of any child, to anyone? Or do you wish them ill?

C8H10N4O2 · 06/06/2021 17:24

Had Kate publicly criticised the Queen and her parenting?

Charles has.

Lilibet was the name widely used within the family. I can think of no other couple who would attract such hate for naming a child after their great grandmother and late grandmother.

When the Cambridges included the names for Charlotte people were practically wetting themselves over how thoughtful and delightful it was.

derxa · 06/06/2021 17:24

Glad the baby has arrived safely

SoupDragon · 06/06/2021 17:25

Seems strange to be so at odds with HMQ and what the RF stands for to name your child after the monarch

It's not that strange to name a child after their great-grandparent.

fashionablefennel · 06/06/2021 17:25

Lovely name!

The hateful reactions to a simple baby name prove how right they were to leave this country, and give a chance to their kids.

Marcipex · 06/06/2021 17:25

I like it.

Pieceofpurplesky · 06/06/2021 17:25

@Benjispruce3

Has it been born then?

FFS she is a baby. Your post is vile.

leeds2glasgow · 06/06/2021 17:25

They have announced it?

Bloodypunkrockers · 06/06/2021 17:25

@osbertthesyrianhamster

Wants to make sure she doesn't strip the duchess titles and cut him out of her will. What a chap!
What?
Cameleongirl · 06/06/2021 17:25

Lilibet is definitely attention-seeking as it was the Queen's childhood nickname, but Lilibert Diana is a pretty combination.

I wish them all the best, but their unsubtlety makes me laugh.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 06/06/2021 17:26

As opposed to just 'person has baby, okay' but gratitude. You must spend your life in a perpetual state as thousands of babies are born each day.

Dunnesstores · 06/06/2021 17:26

Lily is lovely and as said will go well with Archie.

To me it feels a bit of encroached to use someone else's pet name as a given name especially when you've been publicly at odds with that person's way of life and critical of the establishment they've dedicated their whole life to.

Benjispruce3 · 06/06/2021 17:26

I like the names.

glad mother and baby doing well, as I would be glad for any woman and baby, as for the childs name and who her parents are?, well, not relevant to my life, I need never hear another thing about them! (we could only wish!)
