Harry and Megan have just announced their new baby's name.

What's everyone's thoughts?

What about Doria, or is she of no use to them?

Agree with this being manipulative and hypocritical. Can’t help but feeling that there is only one Lilibet, the idea that the two people who have publically set out to destroy the reputation of the RF should want their daughter to evoke images of the Queen is beyond belief.

There’s a fine line between honouring the Queen and appropriation of the Queen.

As for those who say there’s no joy, this is deliberately inflammatory. If they’d wanted it not to be, they’d have used a middle name instead.

Parker231 · 06/06/2021 17:18

Congratulations on the birth of their daughter. It’s a lovely name using family names and nicknames as many of us do. My DD has been called by her nickname from day one.

dorangme · 06/06/2021 17:18

It's not that far removed from Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

Of course it is. She will be known as Lili and Charlotte will be Charlotte (or whatever possible nickname she goes by privately).

Exactly, honestly the level of cray cray on this thread!

osbertthesyrianhamster · 06/06/2021 17:18

@BIWI

All you Meghan haterz have been salivating for this moment, haven't you?

Let's be grateful that they have been delivered safely of a little girl.

That's all we need to say.

Be grateful some random person we don't know delivered a child? Hmm
HoppingHamster · 06/06/2021 17:19

Did you say that when CharlotteElizabeth Dianawas born? No, oh yeah cos bloody kate can't do anything wrong

Charlotte is called Charlotte. Not Elizabeth.

leli · 06/06/2021 17:19

@BillieSpain

Oh so horrendously manipulative and hypocrtical, it is quite unbelievable.

I can't believe it's true.

Totally agree.
SunbathingDragon · 06/06/2021 17:19

Interesting that Buckingham Palace has continued its recent trend to not comment or acknowledge H&M which seems to so far extend to their daughter’s birth. If the name was that much of a touching tribute, I would have expected them to make some sort of announcement. After all, Princess Charlotte (whose name is almost identical in terms of sentiment) was formally greeted.

Port1aCastis · 06/06/2021 17:19

Lovely name
Congratulations to them

SoupDragon · 06/06/2021 17:19

@Nahhh

Lovely name but they could’ve given her the most beautiful name ever and people would’ve found a reason to criticise.
Absolutely this.
dorangme · 06/06/2021 17:20

the idea that the two people who have publically set out to destroy the reputation of the RF

Has Andrew given birth? I thought this was about H & M?

MrsFin · 06/06/2021 17:20

@sweetkitty

I feel sorry for Doria they could have honoured her somewhere too

Doria has sole grandmother, great grandmother and auntie rights.
Don't feel sorry for her. She will see the baby every day. The great grandmother the baby is named for will likely never meet her.

PhillipPhillop · 06/06/2021 17:20

Congrats all round. Lovely news

SuperstoreFan · 06/06/2021 17:20

I like the name but really it's nothing to do with us.

dorangme · 06/06/2021 17:21

Be grateful some random person we don't know delivered a child?

You clearly care or else why are you on the thread? 😆

SunbathingDragon · 06/06/2021 17:21

@GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou

It's not that far removed from Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

Of course it is. She will be known as Lili and Charlotte will be Charlotte (or whatever possible nickname she goes by privately).

They can choose to honor whoever they wish with their daughter's name.

She is known as Lottie.

Seems strange to be so at odds with HMQ and what the RF stands for to name your child after the monarch whilst simultaneously ignoring the name of the one parent who is supposedly in close contact with the family. I wonder how Doria feels about it.

DelilahTheParrot · 06/06/2021 17:21

@dorangme he didn’t set out to do it though Grin

Velvian · 06/06/2021 17:21

I think it's lovely. Smile

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/06/2021 17:21

I think its a little odd, as I thought 'Lilibet' was what the Queen called herself when she was very small and she couldn't pronounce Elizabeth.

It would be similar to calling a some Firip instead of Philip, but what do I know I couldn't say my name properly but then I blame my parents for lumbering me with 'TwoLeftSocksWithHoles'.

feckwit · 06/06/2021 17:22

Love it !

itsjustlowhangingfruit · 06/06/2021 17:22

Don't like them

Like the name though

Very obviously trying to make up for what they said / did

Wonderwine · 06/06/2021 17:22

Well I hope they asked the Queen if she minded first, otherwise it is another ill-advised slap in the face, especially since it's been said that the use of that name for the Queen stopped with the death of Prince Philip:

@BillieSpain

Oh so horrendously manipulative and hypocrtical, it is quite unbelievable.

I can't believe it's true.

Oh do be quiet dear
Pieceofpurplesky · 06/06/2021 17:22

Lovely name and Harry had previously said Lily was his favourite name. It clearly states in the statement that she is to be known as Lily.

It must be hard to carry round as much hate as some people on here do. It's a baby

osbertthesyrianhamster · 06/06/2021 17:22

@dorangme

Why not? I'm not threads about coronavirus and don't really give much of a fuck about that anymore, either 😆
