Yep they definitely picked the name because they are attention seekers & want to be criticised accordingly. 🤔

It's not that far removed from Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. I think in normal circles it would be considered a bit strange to name your child in such a similar way as her cousin. I find the choice a bit crass to be honest.

I think it sounds a bit too try hard. You don’t need to be an insider to see that they have upset HMQ so appeasing her now is pointless; if she meant that much to them, they would have been more considerate with some of their behaviour.

Diana was obvious. I’d be surprised if any bookmaker gave any realistic odds for it being part of her name.

All that said, congratulations to them on the birth of their daughter and I hope all is well with them. Maybe she will bring them the peace they need to move on with their lives.

I think just Lily would have been nicer but I doubt she will actually be called Lillibet much so it doesn't really matter.

Lilibet surprises me as I had only thought of it as a nickname. However, clearly the Queen didn't veto it

Of course it is. She will be known as Lili and Charlotte will be Charlotte (or whatever possible nickname she goes by privately).

They can choose to honor whoever they wish with their daughter's name.

I don’t think anyone would say a baby couldn’t be given a first name similar but not the same as one of their cousin’s middle names.

Seems very insensitive, unless they got her permission first. It was a pet name used by her parents, and husband who just died. It could be quite emotional for her to hear it used elsewhere.
