Now being reported in the Daily Express that Harry is working on a new tell all documtary about royal life. This is according to his biographer Angela Levin. And even more disclosures about the royal family are forthcoming. Is this going to go on for years. We shall have to wait and sed. I think its very very wrong of him.

Soonest mended? I am not sure it will ever be mended now, and I guess they know that and so they may as well make as much $$$ as possible, as people lose interest incredibly quickly. They will squeeze it for all its worth and it will be yesterday's news soon enough, and yet it is such a deeply personal and precious thing. I don't know how anyone could do it.

RF always behave with such dignity, this is no exception - although I am sure it is testing the patience somewhat.

I imagine they assume Harry will be back at some point in the future, once the deals have dried up and his lost his novelty value, and is no longer serving a purpose.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/05/2021 19:12

Blossomtoes unless they've got anything major to say, I'm not convinced further criticism of the RF from H&M will matter much any more, except for the hurt to those involved

As many have identified, much of what they've said thus far is so contradictory or even provably wrong that they're starting to damage their own credibility. Yes it would attract comment, and the everyone's-a-racist crowd will snarl, but to many I suspect it'll be "Oh god, not again ..."

There's not much I admire about the RF, but this time I agree they're doing the right thing in keeping largely schtum - though I'd still love to know if they had a hand in the retraction of the suggestion that Archie's title arrangements were motivated by racism

Rupertbeartrousers · 17/05/2021 19:13

@Angiedx

A sabbatical in an African orphanage...just why ?

Military re-hab ?? He is ex military so can see the link

But the African orphanage ..... a continent of so much than any problems within yet reduced to so little

Surly this is a road travelled previously

Object by all means to that which he is doing now but please don’t such therefore his next option should be as a saviour

Yes, good point. I think I meant more in an understanding of the suffering of others beyond his own difficulties and helping in practical, non-media ways (and considering the aims of Sentembale who he’s patron of).... but you’re quite right. It would be seen as white saviour virtue signalling.
BlueLobelia · 17/05/2021 19:15

@Cinclus

Well Harry and Meghan have some chutzpah, I'll give them that. Joining a think tank to fight the "avalanche of misinformation" after some of the - um - inaccuracies in recent interviews must take a bit of mental realignment. Right up there with talking about mental health while saying stuff that will upset his 95 yr old bereaved grandmother. And talking about racism while partnering with a company that sells skin lightening products in Africa and Asia. And dropping Meghan's father for sharing private family stuff, then sharing private stuff about Harry's family while his grandfather was dying. Hats off.
I just got to this part of the thread and had to - well- applaud.
mermaidsariel · 17/05/2021 19:16

@OutwiththeOutCrowd

To me, he seems like someone in need of wise counsel from an old friend or family member, someone who cares about him, understands him, isn't afraid to be candid and genuinely wishes to help him cultivate his best qualities.
Pretty sure he’s had that from several quarters and totally ignored it.

BlueLobelia

I've stopped by to applaud too. Excellent post.

Angiedx · 17/05/2021 19:29

No you misunderstand

It’s not just about him being seen as virtue signally as a ‘white saviour’

But the fact you suggested it, is the issue

Spot on

[quote Summercocktailsinthesnow]I am going to put this in a different way. Using your mother's funeral for your latest campaign is really really very upsetting, and I can't imagine how the rest of the royal family, particularly William feels it being used in this way.

It is no wonder it is openly being discussed that H&M will have their titles stripped now.

To be fair to H, both he and W have both spoken publicly (as part of a BBC documentary) about Diana's funeral.

So I think it's somewhat unfair to suggest it's a subject he shouldn't be able to broach in public if he wishes to.

Well I was establishing a connection to the fact that this was a charity that he is patron of (established in 2006) so obviously his concern and energy was there once. Similar to his military charities. Not an idea I plucked out of the air. Many of his charities including this one were concerned about what his stepping back from the RF would mean for them, and he reiterated his support at the time.

If your problem is with me then I’m sorry, no offence intended.

I like this video.

ajandjjmum · 17/05/2021 19:50

Thanks for posting that video @CauliflowerCheese30 - I hadn't seen it before. William seems really moved and really proud - very touching.

Sadsiblingatsea · 17/05/2021 19:54

Harry is invading the privacy of his family.
He should stand on his own 2 feet and stop dragging them into everything.
I’ve never got over him trophy hunting a water buffalo in Africa (google it); riding an elderly polo pony so hard she had a heart attack and injuring another with his spurs.
I think he is a disgusting, spoilt, over-indulged middle-aged man with inflated ideas of his own importance.

He does, and so does Harry

Yes, those things are truly awful, but we should be glad that he would no longer do such things. One way or another, he has learned better.

Or the wife won't let him!

Heaven only knows what he would get up to if left to his own devices.

smilesy · 17/05/2021 20:31

Inevitably, pieces which contradict his recent indications that his relationship with his father was not good are going to start surfacing now. Like this one:

He needs to remember what he's said, but it doesn't suit his narrative.

pinkmagnolias · 17/05/2021 20:39

An American told me a few months ago Harry and Meghan would be huge celebrities when they moved to the US. At the time, I scoffed a little but boy was he right. I take my hat off to them tbh. They were criticised to the hilt, left and came out on top.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 17/05/2021 20:40

One of my siblings decided that she had never loved me and that all her problems in life stemmed from me. This wasn't my recollection (recollections may vary) but I had no choice in the matter. The stand off lasted 25 years before an uneasy truce. I would imagine it will be similar with Harry and his family, although I hope he is able to maintain a relationship with the Queen. Although she has strong genes she won't go on forever and she must be very hurt and bewildered by it all.

They’ve only been there five minutes. It’s a tad premature to say they’ve “come out on top”. On top of what?

Surely these are things you shouldnt have 'learn' not to do?
