Who was walking behind the coffin at the back next to Tim Lawrence. All the rest I could identify.

@GooseberryJam

Choir sounds wonderful. So relieved the coffin is on the stand now.

Who was in the car with the Queen? Anyone know?

Her lady in waiting
SoupDragon · 17/04/2021 15:21

They've done very few close ups. Far less than they would normally I think.

GooseberryJam · 17/04/2021 15:21

They seem to have stopped using any camera shots of the Queen now and quite right too.

I imagine the Queen sees this, like her position as monarch, as something she has to bear and it's her responsibility to do that alone.

Peregrina, it was the Earl of Snowden

StealthPolarBear · 17/04/2021 15:22

I rubbed my mums upper arm after her dad's funeral and felt extremely guilty at that level of contact

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 17/04/2021 15:22

Fabulous singing by the choir

LadyPenelope68 · 17/04/2021 15:22

The female chorister has the most stunning voice!

Beakind82 · 17/04/2021 15:22

@Aspiringmatriarch

What a shame William and Harry couldn't walk together. Very pointed.

The music is beautiful.

Well they did really, just had their cousin between them.
ChessieFL · 17/04/2021 15:22

@Peregrina The Earl of Snowdon, Princess Margaret’s son

Viscount Linley?

JustLyra · 17/04/2021 15:22

*Snowdon

I feel so sorry for the Queen on her own. But it reminds of when her mum said she could look the East End in the eye after BP was bombed.

The naysayers would have had a field day if she’d had special consideration.

From the details published in advance it should be Earl Snowdon, Princess Margaret's son
likeamillpond · 17/04/2021 15:22

The singing's giving me goosebumps.
Fantastic.

Viscount Linley or whatever his title is. Lord Snowden, Margaret’s son.

Wearing a mask at a funeral will stay with me forever. I couldn't approach my widowed friend sitting alone due to SD and could only try to support her with eye contact. Flowers

Maybe for the Royals it's a blessing to be able to hide behind them a little though. Yes that's true

Pupster21 · 17/04/2021 15:23

@StealthPolarBear

I'm guessing the Queen is in a 'bubble' with her lady in waiting.
Very good point. I’ve been to a few funerals over lockdown and it’s been awful for the families with the rules and limitations. I can’t imagine the extra stress of having it televised. They’ve felt very very different to funerals in normal times, much more emotional. They obviously need to stick to the same rules. I just wish the Queen wasn’t alone, but I imagine she wants to look dignified and strong rather than have her lady in waiting there in place of a family member.
viques · 17/04/2021 15:23

@3CCC

The singers are wonderful. It's not easy singing to fill a space like that uo
The music is beautiful, I had not had the DofE down as someone who liked music, but if this is his choice then he clearly did because it is very beautiful and evocative. I am loving the choir, just four beautiful voices in an empty space, clear and thrilling.

Exactly.

Whatever you think of the Royal Family this is stunning to watch. Windsor looks glorious, the Land Rover hearse, the cap and gloves on the carriage, the music, it's perfect.

I agree. She's probably in "duty" mode and just getting through it. There will be time to mourn in private .

In your position, I would have felt guilty if I hadn't done that..... Flowers
Maggiesfarm · 17/04/2021 15:23

I'm watching ITV, was on BBC earlier. It's the same on both channels. We've moved past the marching bands, etc., and on to the real funeral service which I am finding extremely moving; I did not expect to.
