Watching on BBC 1. Wish Huw would shut up and let us listen to the bands/watch them March.

It's Queen, Andrew, Anne, Tim and Harry on that side

That's nice actually; two of their children on each side of his coffin.

Beakind82 · 17/04/2021 15:17

Amazing sound coming from just four singers!

StealthPolarBear · 17/04/2021 15:17

I know pupster. And tbh it would be a bit galling, the Queen is in the public eye but I know she's not the only one to have to bury her husband during lockdown.

LemonViolet · 17/04/2021 15:17

The Queen sitting alone is really affecting me!

She’s now technically a single adult household, surely she should be able to at least have one of the family groups to sit with her. I wonder if she isn’t due to still putting duty first and not wanting to show any favour to anyone in particular.

I’m glad Andrew is by himself in the back row though.

I really feel for them all doing this publicly.

Sadly so many people have sat alone in their grief over the last year. It is brutal. But it feels important that the royals are subject to the same constraints as the rest of us.

dignifiedfarewell · 17/04/2021 15:17

CNN are doing their best to be disrespectful - the background noise as the lesson read is just poor sound work - not present on any of the other channels.

dignifiedfarewell · 17/04/2021 15:17

Sticking with the BBC - very dignified and fitting

LadyPenelope68 · 17/04/2021 15:17

Dry touching the whole thing. The choir are amazing ❤️ The Queen looks so frail, bless her ☹️

derxa · 17/04/2021 15:18

So emotional. Those bloody masks though.

LadyPenelope68 · 17/04/2021 15:18

Very touching not dry touching!

ChessieFL · 17/04/2021 15:18

Quite a few are sitting alone - Andrew, Harry, Peter and Earl of Snowdon are all there alone as well as The Queen.

Aspiringmatriarch · 17/04/2021 15:18

What a shame William and Harry couldn't walk together. Very pointed.

The music is beautiful.

Roussette · 17/04/2021 15:18

The choir are magnificent.

They are having to sing elsewhere in the church because no churches allow singing at the moment. Well as far as I know, happy to be corrected on that.

StealthPolarBear · 17/04/2021 15:18

I'm guessing the Queen is in a 'bubble' with her lady in waiting.

ScribblingPixie · 17/04/2021 15:18

I don't think we should see close-ups of the family at all :(

SoupDragon · 17/04/2021 15:18

I bet the acoustics are amazing. There must be microphones though
SueSaid · 17/04/2021 15:19

'hope when they're not on TV the queen is being hugged. And Harry.'

I get the feeling the Queen will be stickler for the rules, to be seen to be doing the correct thing always. I imagine she gets support from all her close family.

This is all so beautifully done, it is very moving.

3CCC · 17/04/2021 15:19

The singers are wonderful. It's not easy singing to fill a space like that uo

JustLyra · 17/04/2021 15:19

@ChessieFL

The Dukes of Kent and Gloucester, Princess Alexandra and Countess Mountbatten will all be sitting alone as well.
StealthPolarBear · 17/04/2021 15:20

Guessing the Queen has her head down so we don't see her cry. I agree, televised funeral OK and long shots if those attending but not the close ups. Too invasive. :(

SueSaid · 17/04/2021 15:20

'don't think we should see close-ups of the family at all '

No, I agree. It is far too intrusive.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 17/04/2021 15:20

Funerals suck don’t they? You are on autopilot through aren’t you.

viques · 17/04/2021 15:20

@Chunkymenrock

The beautiful fell ponies, and the carriage with his cap, scarf and gloves was so poignant. Its so respectful and dignified. So sad.
That was unexpected, so personal, the old gloves shaped to his hands and the cap. Very moving amid all the pomp and formality.
LadyPenelope68 · 17/04/2021 15:20

Totally agree.

freckles20 · 17/04/2021 15:20

Wearing a mask at a funeral will stay with me forever. I couldn't approach my widowed friend sitting alone due to SD and could only try to support her with eye contact.

Maybe for the Royals it's a blessing to be able to hide behind them a little though.
