To wonder why Harry doesn't drop his titles now he's free of The Firm

He and Meghan wanted the freedom to earn their own money and good luck to them there. He's confirmed two new roles and his new employers are introducing him as "Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex".

For his self respect, why doesn't he ask to be called Harry Wales or Harry Mountbatten Windsor. Then he'd know he's being hired for his skills rather than being used for his royal connections.

Because he is actually still Prince Harry by birthright. Just like they are still the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Queen gave them the title when they got married, therefore they never had to return that and still have the right to use the the title they were given. When they stepped down they were just no longer permitted to use His / Her Royal Highness, or Their Royal Highnesses, as they were no longer working members of the Royal Family.
Technically it is still who he is. Just like for example a divorced woman who was married to a man and who was known by the title of Mrs and took her husbands surname can still legally refer to herself or be referred to or known as Mrs Ex Husbands Surname, even though they are legally divorced and therefore she is no longer Mrs Name.
Hasn't he lost enough as a result of his family and their behaviour and outdated attitudes over the years as it is? Why should he have to give up even more? It's simply unfair.

He's a man who stepped up to support his wife and his child when it really mattered and who done whatever it took to protect them and make sure they were happy. If that makes him such a bad man then I think all men need to be bad men, just like him.

In the US his only 'marketable skills' are his title AND being Diana's son. Trading on the first is acceptable. Trading on the second is not (even in the US).

What I wonder is whether or not he truly realizes that he's being hired for 'name recognition' or if he thinks he really has the skill set in marketing & research to qualify for the job. In the end I guess it really doesn't matter though, does it?

He might have a lot of recognition right now, but they’ve got an expensive lifestyle and need to be pulling in the big bucks for years and years. or till he cracks and goes back

What would be the point? Like it or not, he’s still a prince of the realm and will be the son of the king. Still in line to the throne. It’s still his heritage and his family plus he never claimed to be leaving the RF, just stepping back.

Actually I agree. He's paid his whole life for the title, let him see some return on it finally.

Let’s be honest, everything else he had has had to be prized off him so he isn’t likely give up his title and prestige that comes with it.

He is a prince. It's what we trained him to be. It's his qualification. He should use it and we should get over the fact he didn't turn out the way you wanted doesn't work for us anymore.

Now he can call himself what he wants or legally change his name by deed poll to Paddington Bear if he wishes, but you cannot take away/strip someone of their legally registered name.
