Harry appointed senior exec at $1bn startup

Just seen that Harry has been appointed Chief Impact Officer at a billion dollar valued Silicon Valley startup.
This feels so unfair. I know people who have worked for years first qualifying then gaining experience in their field, without a hope of a job like this. Harry of the 2 A levels and zero formal work experience outside of the army. He can bleat about the hardships of privilege all he wants but he’d never get near a job like this as a private “normal” citizen.

Soon as they did take those trips, they were leaked to the press by 'royal sources' Infact from the looks of it, everything and everywhere they went was leaked.

Really? Because she disappeared for months before the birth of Archie, nobody got a snap of her at all. Nobody knew when she was in labour & had gone to hospital until a few minutes before Archie was born, and at that point she seemed to be back at home already. The only photos they seemed to get of her ‘off duty’ were the baby shower photos (US paps) and those ridiculous Wimbledon photos where she had her security intimidate the public for taking photographs of the tennis, and she had the box around her cleared.

Here is a link showing what was paid and wasn’t paid by the RF

I don’t really quite understand it but maybe some of you do:

sussexroyal.com/funding/

Well it’s quite a simple breakdown, but it is their interpretation of the issue - firstly the part about security is incorrect, as we now know, I get the feeling that they thought in ‘putting it to print’ it would force the Met’s hand in continuing to protect them. How?! Why should Met officers have to go and live in the States to protect them? It seems very selfish. Security is a perk of the job, if you leave the job, you no longer get the perks. The part about tourism revenue is a generous guess, it is impossible to quantify. They also missed out the cost of their wedding (unless I’m mistaken) which was by far the biggest expenditure and met by the sovereign grant (I believe).

I don’t really quite understand it but maybe some of you do:

Nothing on the site is clear, because its not designed to be clear:

Look at a sentence like this:

The history of the British monarchy is steeped in tradition and pride, as the oldest form of government in the United Kingdom.

Whether or not you believe in monarchy, it's difficult to divorce the British monarchy from things like colonialism and burning people for their religious beliefs. You might think there are some upsides, but it's a bit tricky to ignore all the down sides if your sympathies lean more towards statue tumbling.

Unless the website includes very detailed accounts (unlikely if the organisation was set up in 2020), there is no way to know how it is funded or how money is spent.

LittleBearPad · 27/03/2021 11:17

@Lockdownbear

Who would actually sign off the therapist?

If you think of the RF as the standard family firm. The board of directors (the family) and MD - the Queen,

Under them you have the staff PA, office staff, cleaners and HR to manage the staff etc.

HR say they don't have authority to book therapists for the directors. HR budget doesn't cover it and needs to be audited.

Who does have authority?
I guess it depends on who's paying for it. Pay it privately and its nothing to do with the business or try to get the business to pay.

Nobody needs to sign off the therapist. Harry (and Meghan) have money. One of Diana’s friends, Julia Samuel, is a therapist so it’s not hard to at least talk to her first. There were options. But frankly Harry seems to have been rather feeble about the whole thing - he let Meghan down there.
DioneTheDiabolist · 27/03/2021 11:17

Such a warm feeling from the kind people this morning, surely a day’s work has been achieved by 9am. Racism, bigotry and hatredtick and tick.
Surely - can go forth today with the self satisfied smile of the self-righteousall by 9am. If only I could be so kind, or rather blind to facts and inconsistencies, then I could feel smug all day too. Hey ho, I guess that’s the burden of critical thinking.

That's not "critical thinking" @marmaladeagain, that's Confirmation Bias.🤣

Viviennemary · 27/03/2021 11:35

I bet Harry hasn't even had to buy as much as a bar of soap in his life. I bet he needs about the equivalent of £12m a year just to break even. The staff, the security, the PR. The cost must be phenomenal.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 27/03/2021 11:45

Harry has lived in a gilded cage all his life, surrounded by people who would do anything for him that he needed, free. He has absolutely no concept of what real life is like. Meghan hasn’t ever been in a position to employ staff or deal with the world outside that of acting. She has no idea about the corporate world. They are two Babes in the Wood stumbling around. Sewn into their coats are all their riches. Lots of wolves and charlatans will be out looking for them and they won’t know who to trust. They’ll be promised all sorts and it won’t be long till heir coats disappear, never to be seen again.
Yet they wander around crying loudly and bleating about how unfair it all is in loud voices.

Goodness, sounds like a brothers Grimm story!

But yes I agree - they’re nowhere near as media savvy and influential as they think they are. People are ‘buying’ their notoriety and title, no more no less.

Once the public interest in them wanes, there won’t be any card left to play. Nobody that wants to go to a garden party/palace banquet/a gong will be going anywhere near them.

IrmaFayLear · 27/03/2021 11:56

I used to like Harry, but recent events have unmasked him as a petulant whinger, and has shown us just how privileged he is. Imagine never having to think about taxing the car, changing a lightbulb, looking at the best utilities supplier, booking a flight, queuing up for anything, and so on and so on.

Ok, so the rf are in a similar position, but, they have to perform duties (see Princess Anne and the bin factory) year in, year out - for life. And the Queen is in her 90s. Prince Charles is in his 70s.

CathyorClaire · 27/03/2021 12:02

Some changes need to be made. By coming out, pressure groups or a proper enquiry could help with the way forward. Make sure that the RF members are treated humanely. TBH, W and PC really need to get on board as this would help their grand/children etc. in the long run. They could all still keep the good traditions, but the generations to come do not have to put up with these draconian measures

Do you genuinely think the royals will get on board with any kind of enquiry that might shine any kind of light into their murky goings-on?

Only this week we have news of the queen's exemption from police searches into the provenenance of historical artefacts housed in her own properties and that's just the latest example in the royal smoke and mirrors game.

Charles cants on about a slimmed down monarchy because he thinks it plays well with the peasants while offering no threat of constraint to his own feather cushioned lifestyle.

Roussette · 27/03/2021 12:02

That could be applied to his Dad, his brother, the grandmother et al. Neither do they lift a finger to do anything. You can hardly criticise Harry for that given he was born into the RF.

I suspect Princess Anne and the bin factory is going to go down in history on here 😂

merrymouse · 27/03/2021 12:07

This all reminds me of Jade in Big Brother.

The public hated her then they loved her, then they hated her, then they loved her, but they didn't know her. They were just responding to directions from the programme editors and the media.

But they do. They at least work at being Royals. It’s not what any of us would call a job, but they do their beer. Harry had about a year doing actual Royal duties and then legged it.
GoLightlyontheEarth · 27/03/2021 12:12

Best

LookAChicken · 27/03/2021 12:13

Rousette (another slow day in lockdown here so) inspired by that I just googled Princess Ann bin factory.

It was a waste depot and she was thanking the bin men. (I give thanks regularly for the bin service round our wayStar)

I also found out New Balance trainers have a factory in Cumbria Shockand she visited and received a custom made pair.Grin

Can’t imagine PA in New Balance trainers!!
Maireas · 27/03/2021 12:19

I bet Anne wears trainers a lot. Very practical.

Lockdownbear · 27/03/2021 12:20

2019 Anne did 509 engagements.
I wonder how that's broken down between glamour stuff dinners / theater stuff and the less glamorous factory visits
And how many working days she actually had, like is she managing to squeeze 5 engagements into a day?

SpringTimeDream · 27/03/2021 12:22

Of course it's unfair rather than someone qualified in mental health...

But he is famous, a member of the RF and trades on that.

Hopefully he will do a great job and not embarrass himself.

There's a big hush up on the legal case where he is being sued for £6.7M over the Swiss chalet. Perhaps the Queen has paid it off Hmm[/quote]
I’ll have a look. Thanks.

@Mummy195

I don’t think they can assume that he would want to marry a woman.

That must have kept them up too from the sounds of intolerance the firm has.

I recall a couple of years ago that William said he would have no problem if George was gay.
