Harry appointed senior exec at $1bn startup

Just seen that Harry has been appointed Chief Impact Officer at a billion dollar valued Silicon Valley startup.
This feels so unfair. I know people who have worked for years first qualifying then gaining experience in their field, without a hope of a job like this. Harry of the 2 A levels and zero formal work experience outside of the army. He can bleat about the hardships of privilege all he wants but he’d never get near a job like this as a private “normal” citizen.

I really wish the likes of the Daily Mail would. They won't. It's clickbait for them.

Yes, agree Ricki.

Many, many start ups pay six-figure sums to “well-connected” people, to turn up 1-2 days a month, meet prospective investors, and generally attract cash.

In London, these are generally extremely posh public-school educated men in their 50s, with a background in some kind of banking, who have access to other rich people. In DH’s last start-up, it was a knighted multi-millionaire who could invite VCs up to his lovely Scottish estate for some grouse shooting of a weekend. As far as I know, that is the extent of his domain knowledge/contribution to the company. But he brought in millions of pounds in funding from his rich mates, so very much paid his own way.

Go and google the CVs of some members of the boards of directors of successful start up companies. They are not hard-working tech geniuses, in the main.

@Itsalonghaul

Erm, if it is none of our business please can someone stop Harry's office from the relentless 'press releases' every single day.

We don't care, we are not interested. Please stop telling us every last detail of your life and just get on and live it.

I also wish sky, BBC etc would all put real news at the top of the agenda rather than vacuous updates about the Sussex HQ. It is beyond boring now.

Really yesterdays' news

@Itsalonghaul - how are you seeing this news everywhere everyday. The most I see is headlines - but mostly new daily MN threads. If it really is tedious for you Why can't you ignore the headlines? you really don't have to click on them the more you click the more they come up in your feeds/cookies as naturally it appears that you are interested despite writing otherwise on MN !
redspecial · 24/03/2021 18:23

But that hasn't happened so why is that relevant now? coming from Rousette, who has used Edward VIII, Cromwell, and "a king who was beheaded for treason" (think she meant Charles I) to make her point, dismissing something that Harry was actually demanding not a year ago and forgetting their 'Sussex Royal' half-in-half-out strop is very funny.

Its relevant in that this is what they tried to strongarm the monarchy to do. Its a huge part of why so many people think they are demanding, spoiled, self entitled chancers who haven't moved/left because they've been badly treated, rather they've left because they've not been able to have EVERYTHING all their own way.

Are you being deliberately obtuse for laughs? Its really coming across that way.

Roussette · 24/03/2021 18:46

Would you like to link me where I talked of Cromwell or behading on this thread?

Nope. You can't.

So please don't accuse me of 'being obtuse for laughs'. That's a little more up your street!

On another thread someone talked about Harry being guilty of treason. I answered that.

Nice try!

Roussette · 24/03/2021 18:47

*beheading

redspecial · 24/03/2021 19:00

yeah OK @Roussette you mentioned treason on another thread and didn't understand my reply then either but whatever.

nice try imaginative comeback. not heard that one since high school.

Marmaladeagain · 24/03/2021 19:48

Slight problem with that list of very important people from Kings to Cromwell etc is they are all very, very important people in our history.

Harry is a nobody. He never was going to be anybody in the monarchy or the future history of the monarchy. His name is forgotten in just one generation - gone.

He's not in line for anything, he's the younger brother and every generation there is upset that they don't feel special anymore and jealous of the new family line going (in this instance now going dow through George).

From Richard III and some young princes - to Harry - there are always siblings that think it should be done their way.

It isn't a big deal resigning (he isn't in line to be on the throne, and no-one would want him if he were).

He needs to the get the hell out properly and stop using the HRH etc

It should be noted William has made it known that he doesn't feel trapped by the idea - it's a role he's been preparing for etc.

To see the look of fury on Harry's face when he has to step behind William is shocking. Harry is furious that he isn't as important as William and his family, instead of coming to terms with that - he is embarrassing everyone and telling his wife it is racism.

The whole world are indulging Harry in his meltdown and upset at being the younger brother - some are believing it, I'm not - he wanted the "important" role.

If he can't have it, then he'll break the toy so his brother can't play either. He is that infantile. I see no evidence of anything other than a horrid selfish person that doesn't care about his family let alone the wider world's mental health.

Where in the name of all that is holy did you get that from? Shock 😮

Your post is gobsmacking. Not in a good way.
So much hate.

Are you over invested in this?

Scoobydoobywho · 24/03/2021 19:59

Harry has also got another job as a commissioner to stop misinformation. I wonder if he will point out the misleading headlines from their Oprah interview.

Harry did look in a strop during his last engagements before stepping down but it’s hard to know the reason behind that.

I do agree his actions come across as infantile and selfish. He has always been indulged and is now purely a product of his own, dysfunctional, upbringing.

It had to be difficult to know you were born for a purpose (as a back up, which is an important role) but as time goes on you are less and less relevant. Give Harry another couple of decades and unless he turns things around, he will be as entitled and disgraced as Andrew.

SoWhyNot · 24/03/2021 20:01

I feel someone is having a joke with the two jobs he had. Ashamed of his wife’s mental health and a public liar. At least nobody should be worried about getting a job post COVID with the clear lack of qualifications, integrity or ability needed.
SoWhyNot · 24/03/2021 20:03

Actually I take it back, he has the ability to gain headlines and that’s probably all the companies want. All publicity is good publicity and all that.

redspecial · 24/03/2021 20:05

Theworldisfullofgs not at all. just personal amusement. Its only the internet. Nobody is keeping score and nothing we say on here either way makes a blind bit of difference or changes a damned thing. We're mums (most of us probably) talking over current events. There have been some good points raised and questions asked which are turning out to be more interesting than H&M are, they're pretty boring if their 'interview' was anything to go by.

I doubt H&M give a crap about what any of us think either, their behaviour strongly suggests otherwise. Although if they're upset they can always get some therapy, if only they knew how to go about getting that.

Marmaladeagain · 24/03/2021 20:05

yes the misinformation job is hilarious.

Perhaps first point of call would be giving the US a factually accurate version of how the monarchy works and why he is moving sideways, downwards and out of the picture.

It isn't because his wife is mixed race, same thing happens every generation.

That should keep him busy for quite a while unpicking that pretty pickle he created all by himself.

Paquerette · 24/03/2021 20:12

@redspecial

Yes, that's a million-dollar question! A person who took part in a world-wide interview full of dishonesty is going to lecture ppl about misinformation?

indeed. they also use a PR bot army to influence opinion. wonder what Aspen make of that? (probably the same as BetterUp that he was embarrassed & incapable to pick up a phone to a doctor when his own wife says she was having MH issues).

the comedy just keeps writing itself.

This.

In terms of jobs to announce after that interview, this is pure comedy gold. 😂😂😂

Marmaladeagain · 24/03/2021 20:13

Yes red the most important raised by all of this is freedom of speech.

Some saying certain things should never be questioned or critical thinking employed. Ha haha ! Yes lots would like that, but luckily the UK haven't swallowed any of it in quite the way the US may have thought we should all bend under the pressure of "shame" etc.

Truth outs in the end and the lies start to unravel and the rats desert the sinking ship....same old, same old.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 24/03/2021 20:25

I'm ready to hide his thread now - I'll pop back again on the next H&M thread in the next day or two ✋ ✋

Marmaladeagain · 24/03/2021 20:32

Well the headlines today seem to be unpicking the misinformation H&M spoke in the Oprah infomercial.

Then Harry in true Spinal Tap mode saying:

in a statement on his new role, Harry said: “The experience of today’s digital world has inundated us with an avalanche of misinformation, affecting our ability as individuals as well as societies to think clearly and truly understand the world we live in.”
www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/mar/24/prince-harry-joins-us-initiative-to-tackle-fake-news

Spinal Tap scene 1 act 1 - I think H's written Act 1 scene 1 for the Spinal Tap "Royals tour the US" movie.

CathyorClaire · 24/03/2021 20:38

I thought Harry wasn't part of our "constitutional system"

In that case maybe he could stop reminding us he's a duke and that he's sixth in line to the throne or even better renounce his title and claim.

We don't care, we are not interested

Speak for yourself. I'm utterly fascinated and have much appreciated the endless and unwittingly inventive entertainment provided by Harry and Meghan during the longest and dullest year in living memory.
