Harry appointed senior exec at $1bn startup

Just seen that Harry has been appointed Chief Impact Officer at a billion dollar valued Silicon Valley startup.
This feels so unfair. I know people who have worked for years first qualifying then gaining experience in their field, without a hope of a job like this. Harry of the 2 A levels and zero formal work experience outside of the army. He can bleat about the hardships of privilege all he wants but he’d never get near a job like this as a private “normal” citizen.

OP posts:

oh the irony GrinGrin

RickiTarr · 24/03/2021 16:01

@MrsTreglowan

Who else would like all this shitty bullying when they were pregnant or at all.
This thread is about Harry.

In fact, as I said upthread, Harry was the royal and knew the system. Meghan was the incomer, and must have been lost in culture shock, as all incomers to the BRF are, they all seem to struggle, even Prince Philip.

So if we are looking at the whole fandango rather than yesterday & today’s job news, Harry is still the one who should have known better and handled this better.

VanGoghsDog · 24/03/2021 16:05

@NinePremium

It’s a made up title to get some amazing publicity for the company. Of course Harry won’t be doing any actual work because he’s far too dense to be able to contribute anything meaningful.
Lots of organisations have a Chief Impact Officer. All job titles are made up. Obviously.
VanGoghsDog · 24/03/2021 16:06

@Skiptheheartsandflowers

Ooh, he's like the (ex) royal George Osborne with all these jobs.

what is Archewell for if he’s now working for another social interest organisation?

That, to me, is the really interesting question. It's been a shadowy not-actually-doing-anything presence for a while. If Harry's raising funds for other organisations' good causes, that's all positive but what's the point of Archewell and where's its funding going to come from?

You can work for more than one entity you know. I do. I am employed and have my own consultancy. I do the latter evenings and weekends, or on a holiday day.
IrmaFayLear · 24/03/2021 16:08

Harry had better not spread himself too thinly. Obviously he is not going to actually do anything in these jobs, and it is his name which brings the value, but if he is appointed a “senior exec” at many more places it will start to look a bit hollow and devalue his worth.

I must admit it does look quite cynical to talk about mental health in their interview and then the companies announce his joining on the back of the publicity. If he started working in the chief impact role in January, why not announce it then? If it is a proper, lucrative post then why the bleating about no Prince Charles money? He could have said, “problem solved!” Also he’s joined the Aspen thingummy about disinformation which is a very well-funded company which I doubt is paying him tuppence ha’penny.

VanGoghsDog · 24/03/2021 16:14

If it is a proper, lucrative post then why the bleating about no Prince Charles money?

It would be well remunerated, in the UK probably from £150k to £300k plus bonuses, for full time. But that's not that much to him, is it?

He wasn't "bleating" about the money, he was stating a fact

You sound very bitter, why do you care so much?

RickiTarr · 24/03/2021 16:26

We are allowed to care about our constitutional system, our representatives, and the people who are trying to make us all look like a country of medieval arseholes @VanGoghsDog

Also, the media side of this is interesting.

VanGoghsDog · 24/03/2021 16:36

I thought Harry wasn't part of our "constitutional system", isn't that the point?

Leaves the UK, has his money cut off, gets a job, or two, gets criticised. I can't see why anyone should care what job he has.

cyclingmad · 24/03/2021 16:36

@ImpatiensI

As I said before, there are posters on here who are having to lie down with a damp flannel on their heads

to be fair I think cyclingmad could do with some of that treatment - sounds like they're going to blow a fuse! Grin

Perhaps you should stop speculating about people when you don't know anything and just making crap up about what people are feeling or thinking.

I'm not about to blow a fuse.

Anne1958 · 24/03/2021 16:40

It’s been announced Harry now has another job as well as the one from yesterday.

Anne1958 · 24/03/2021 16:42

Yes, that's a million-dollar question! A person who took part in a world-wide interview full of dishonesty is going to lecture ppl about misinformation??

Hear hear.

IrmaFayLear · 24/03/2021 16:47

@VanGoghsDog Confused. I was just discussing things, along with everyone else. Why on earth would I be bitter? It’s a news story. I don’t know why you’ve picked on me when I am only commenting and musing.

RickiTarr · 24/03/2021 16:51

Leaves the UK, roundly trashes his family and the institution that made him rich and influential, tarnishing his country’s image in the eyes of the world, and then starts monetising his royal status and fame.

Seems to me he wants it all ways.

If he started calling himself Harry Sussex, Harry Wales (which he was at school and in army, I believe) or Harry Windsor, I might give him a tad more credit.

There he is using his full title in the website of a SanFran start up, though.

redspecial · 24/03/2021 16:56

indeed. they also use a PR bot army to influence opinion. wonder what Aspen make of that? (probably the same as BetterUp that he was embarrassed & incapable to pick up a phone to a doctor when his own wife says she was having MH issues).

the comedy just keeps writing itself.

ImpatiensI · 24/03/2021 17:02

It seems the goalposts continually change when it has anything to do with Harry and Meghan. They wanted them to leave. They left. Their detractors complained that they had betrayed ,the RF

No, they wanted to leave, and left, with the RF blessing (and financial support from Daddy). And then stabbed the RF (and Daddy) in the back while kicking them in the teeth. Now that's what I call nasty.

RickiTarr · 24/03/2021 17:14

What I don’t understand is that he could pack up and flee to Canada but he couldn’t find MH support for his wife, despite having had therapy for himself, and having promoted MHcare with KM & PW. Surely he could have spoken to one of them? Or just made an appointment with a HCP? It’s not difficult.

I think my opinion of him just deteriorates with every choice he makes and every utterance he gives.

Now it’s got to the point that you need to do really complicated mental gymnastics to explain away all of; the Nazi uniforms, the disloyalty to his family, calling his army colleague a “p++i” calling the other one a “r++h++d”, not getting help for his suicidal wife, his hypocrisy about air travel, monetising his dead mother, betraying his brother & father, monetising his royal status. And so on.
@Legwarmers
Not sure whether your post was aimed at me or in general? If aimed at me, you are directing it at me wrongly!

I'm certainly not one of accusing him of announcing his job on the wrong day, I was being facetious to all the people on here who are!
Apologies @Rousette I didn't pick up on that but I really should have as none of your other posts were against H&M Thanks

redspecial · 24/03/2021 17:15

yeah they wanted to leave, apart from keep doing the luffly high profile glamorous stuff but less of being in fijian markets places full of poor/dirty people.

this is why their half in half out 'collaborating' thing would never have worked. good for him getting a job but who funds these billion dollar start ups he's hitched himself to? shell companies? foreign interests?

Roussette · 24/03/2021 17:20

@Legwarmers

No problem at all, the quoting on here gets a bit mixed up at times Smile

ImpatiensI · 24/03/2021 17:32

@cyclingmad - 'I'm not about to blow a fuse'

Circuit board maybe?

DioneTheDiabolist · 24/03/2021 17:39

That is no longer our business. He doesn't work for us anymore.

redspecial · 24/03/2021 17:44

That is no longer our business. He doesn't work for us anymore. err yes I know. you missed my point. they wanted to do this and still work for us, I was remarking on why what they tried to demand would never work.

Itsalonghaul · 24/03/2021 17:58

Erm, if it is none of our business please can someone stop Harry's office from the relentless 'press releases' every single day.

We don't care, we are not interested. Please stop telling us every last detail of your life and just get on and live it.

I also wish sky, BBC etc would all put real news at the top of the agenda rather than vacuous updates about the Sussex HQ. It is beyond boring now.

Really yesterdays' news

Roussette · 24/03/2021 18:01

they wanted to do this and still work for us, I was remarking on why what they tried to demand would never work

But that hasn't happened so why is that relevant now?

Itsalonghaul · 24/03/2021 18:03

So we should just stop giving them any air time. If they want privacy, we should give them privacy!
