The royal family

Harry has a lot to answer for.

I think Harry has a lot to answer for in this whole debacle. He's a 35 year old man brought up as a Royal who should know how the whole thing works and how to ensure his wife is fully educated in the rules and regs. of being a Royal. She was his wife, why on earth was she going to HR at the Palace for help with mental health problems? Harry has loads of experience and the knowledge of where to get help, what on earth was he doing? Harry knows full well that there is a rule about not being given a royal title when it comes to Archie. Why didn't he explain this to Megan? It has absolutely nothing to do with Archie's skin colour. Why is Harry moaning about having their security removed given his father paid £4m for their security after the tax payer stopped paying after they moved to California?
It is not the Royal family's decision whither or not someone has The Metropolitan Police fly over to do security duties.
Prince William sorted the press out when they were making disparaging comments about Kate, why didn't he put his foot down as his brother did?

just caught up Oldbutstillgotit - lovely newsFlowers, congrats to all (apologies for digression)

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 20/03/2021 12:04

@ImAncient

🌻 to you. Watching my sibling suffer with this (as well as other things) is unbearably hard to watch. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it is for anyone to live it. Sad

And don’t worry about momentarily making it about you. Better than reading about the two clowns who make it all about them when they don’t know how hard life can be.

To you 🌻

Lockdownbear · 20/03/2021 12:05

I think the contradictions in what they are saying and what they are doing is verging on funny.

Even the you need someone to sit with me. I'm sure someone from the palace staff could have made her a cuppa and talked.

Has anyone told them actions speak louder than words?

thecognoscenti · 20/03/2021 12:14

@ImAncient I know how this feels, too. Isn't it just so draining as well as being painful? Horrible. You have my sympathy 💐

Authenticchicken · 20/03/2021 12:16

Congratulations @Oldbutstillgotit Flowers

thecognoscenti · 20/03/2021 12:16

@BrieAndChilli

I don’t think H&M understand the hypocrisy of what they are saying!!

They said they didn’t want a public life, it was too intrusive.
Fine, if that’s what they want no-one begrudged them going off to Canada to lead a quieter life
But then they moaned about not getting security paid for them by a country they no longer wanted to serve or live in!!!
Now they are selling their souls and entire private life to the whole world in order to keep enough money for their lavish lifestyle!

If they had stayed in Canada, maybe invested in a couple of companies, done a bit of charity work of their choosing people would have a lot more respect for them. They are now basically trying to become Hollywood superstars with not real talent or skill base - so trying to be at the top of the A list without the years of grafting and working thier way up!

This is spot on. Private Eye have also nailed it as well. I wish the interview had been a bit more probing but then it just wouldn't have happened.
@Itsalonghaul

One can but hope.

She can go to fuck LA as well. Perhaps they can rent her their spare room. Or perhaps be their nanny.

One would think they’ve got good feckin practice with the nanny state they are intent on creating.
Oh that's lovely @Oldbutstillgotit!

Lauren15 · 20/03/2021 12:46

H said that he’d had two conversations with his dgm and his df about leaving, following which they asked him to put something in writing. In the interview he viewed this as something completely unreasonable. He thought they should have immediately agreed. However no one had ever done this through choice before and there were a lot of details to think about eg security. It’s also obviously a life changing decision so not one to be made in a hurry. His desire to push his dgm and df on agreeing quickly reveals him to be impulsive and immature. He is now facing the consequences of his hasty decision (paying for security and his family) and is blaming the people who wanted him to think things through carefully. Also why, in the 21st century, is it up to HIM to support his family. Both partners in a marriage have equal responsibility. Why was it so insulting to suggest MM go back to acting?

Wbeezer · 20/03/2021 12:48

I keep thinking of that now old-fashioned phrase "least said, soonest mended", i actually think its often a better approach than talking everything over.

ImAncient · 20/03/2021 12:52

Thank you everyone for your good wishes.

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell I think it must be harder to watch someone actually as you can’t do much to take the pain away. 💐 for your sister.

@thecognoscenti sorry you have it too. It’s pretty crap isn’t it & relentless? Yes and I’m so exhausted at the moment. The pain after so many days cos beginning to take its toll.

@ImpatiensI thank you.

Oh my that spectator article made me laugh 😆

GrownUpBeans · 20/03/2021 12:53

If you disagree on the facts ("recollections may vary"), it's probably the only approach.

Theunamedcat · 20/03/2021 13:00

I see he is no longer self isolating to come over to see his grandad shame really his grandad looks a bit frail

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 20/03/2021 13:03

But that would be actually showing compassion rather than just speaking about it theunamedcat

Oh for just a minute to speak to my grandas. Just to say how much they absolutely enriched my soul.

Just a minute.

Lauren15 · 20/03/2021 13:06

I don’t think he really was self isolating. I think it was just a story fed to the press to make him look a bit less heartless for doing this interview when his dgf is so ill. He’d still have to self isolate on arrival in the U.K. anyway so it would be pointless.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 20/03/2021 13:07

@derxa

We were all muddling along fine till Cameron and his fucking referendum. Now we've got Brexit, Megxit and Scexit.
fafadebelem · 20/03/2021 13:14

Not at all racist from me. What I am comparing is how one black woman, Michelle Obama, took on Public Service very seriously. She knew she could have a huge impact and visibility and sacrificed a lot to do a tremendous job.

The other one complains she did not get security paid for and that her PFB wasn’t given a title. Just saying...

redspecial · 20/03/2021 13:34

congratulations @Oldbutstillgotit.

comparison between MO and MM is not on. Really, just no.

MrsTabithaTwitchit · 20/03/2021 13:35

Although of course in the interview with Michelle Obama which is being quoted she was replying to a direct question about MM

fafadebelem · 20/03/2021 13:43

@redspecial

congratulations *@Oldbutstillgotit*.

comparison between MO and MM is not on. Really, just no.

Why not? MO gave her opinion on the PH and MM debate herself.
SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 20/03/2021 13:47

I don’t see why we can’t compare two women and what they’ve done with their platforms.

Two women married to very high profile men have gone about things very, very differently.

I’d be ruddy horrified if everything I’ve done with my life - good or bad - was somehow attributed to my colour.

ImpatiensI · 20/03/2021 14:12

That's the point - you're comparing one black woman with another as if there was some meaning to that comparison. Why not compare MM to Angela Merkel? Theresa May? Queen Silvia of Sweden?

For that matter why not compare her to any man as well, what's being a woman got to do with it?

It's pointless comparison and I stand by my comment of racist.

Itsalonghaul · 20/03/2021 14:35

old congratulations!!! I am very jealous you get to hold a newborn today. So lovely to be there too!

lauren I personally don't think it is insulting for MM to go back to acting, if that is what she wants to do, but the money won't be there. Nothing like the amount they will need - it will probably pay the nanny for a week if they are lucky. I hope they are good at maths, and have a strong stomach because they have really loaded up on the house and security, and as such are really committed to now to that kind of lifestyle.

Me, I would have rented somewhere initially, sorted out the revenue streams first and then committed to a life there.

Actually I would never have agreed to leave in the RF in the first place. I would have stayed and taken the place to represent the common wealth, and enjoyed plenty of distance from the family without throwing away all of the benefits! Perhaps I would have pleaded to have a more permanent home in common wealth country, and really worked hard to earn it if I were H&M. No way would I have taken the huge risk in not only leaving, but scorching all chances of ever going back. So unwise.

Be nice to people on the way up, because you will meet them again on the way down.

Never a truer quote than this in their situation.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 20/03/2021 14:50

Because M sees herself in a similar position of influence and power. So they are comparable in terms of what can be achieved and what sort ofI influence she thinks she has. She isn’t comparable at all of course, but she aspires to be in a similar position.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 20/03/2021 14:59

They signed with the same speaking agency as the Obamas did they not?

They hoped to have a similar approach with their charitable foundation as the Obamas and to host events highlighting social issues - or so it seemed.

So not unreasonable to compare the two.

I am often compared to a colleague. We have a similar approach to work. We have a similar approach to how we see things in the future.

We do have very different ways of voicing our opinions.

It is commented upon.

Should I call my boss out as racist because he compares us?
