The royal family

Harry has a lot to answer for.

I think Harry has a lot to answer for in this whole debacle. He's a 35 year old man brought up as a Royal who should know how the whole thing works and how to ensure his wife is fully educated in the rules and regs. of being a Royal. She was his wife, why on earth was she going to HR at the Palace for help with mental health problems? Harry has loads of experience and the knowledge of where to get help, what on earth was he doing? Harry knows full well that there is a rule about not being given a royal title when it comes to Archie. Why didn't he explain this to Megan? It has absolutely nothing to do with Archie's skin colour. Why is Harry moaning about having their security removed given his father paid £4m for their security after the tax payer stopped paying after they moved to California?
It is not the Royal family's decision whither or not someone has The Metropolitan Police fly over to do security duties.
Prince William sorted the press out when they were making disparaging comments about Kate, why didn't he put his foot down as his brother did?

@ Fozzleyplum. I think our Irish friends might disagree ....

eckerslike · 19/03/2021 09:07

@Roussette

Awful overnight posts. With absolute nonsense being talked. Meghan walked in front of someone, she announced the baby to the whole of Eugenie's wedding party, she did this she did that.

The walking in front of nonsense... there's loads of footage out there of the DM trying to besmirch MM with stuff like this. You look at it closely and it is just a nothingburger. Slanted to look awful in their campaign to paint her in the worst way possible.

Yet you demand of @rosetylersbiggun evidence of something. Of course you would. That's what you do all the time. I've had this. When I provide evidence of anything I have said, no one replies. You all disappear.

She's transparent
She's self serving
She wanted to be centre stage
She's a narcissist
She's a social climber

Where's your evidence for that then?

And you said William is racist?? Evidence? Otherwise this is totally unfounded smear. It's no wonder these threads get pulled.

Would you say this IRL to someone without evidence?

Fozzleyplum · 19/03/2021 09:09

My point was, in the context of this thread, that it is not to do with skin colour. That misunderstanding comes up again and again.

Oldbutstillgotit · 19/03/2021 09:13

@ Fozzleyplum
I never said it was ! I was referring to the fact that many Irish people find it unacceptable!

Anyway DD has just messaged to say she is in Labour and I am her birthing partner so must dash ! X

Teddy1970 · 19/03/2021 09:16

I grew up in the Diana years and yes she was frequently out and about, The Ivy was one of her favourite places to lunch, she was often photographed leaving the gym too.

eggandonion · 19/03/2021 09:16

Beyond the pale is hundred percent accepted in Ireland, the pale being Dublin and its hinterland.
I live far beyond the pale.

eckerslike · 19/03/2021 09:18

@eggandonion

Beyond the pale is hundred percent accepted in Ireland, the pale being Dublin and its hinterland. I live far beyond the pale.
thank you Eggandonion.

We cannot having posters on here jumping on supposed 'skin colour' remarks when they are nothing of the short.

Ian Hislop once explained what the phrase meant on Have I got news for you...and the audience were so impressed he got a clap!

Roussette · 19/03/2021 09:21

@eckerslike

No I did not say that.
Scroll back and get your facts right, and not address that to me.

As for not taking any notice of overnight posts from the US as they are pro MM. Completely the opposite

@Oldbutstillgotit

Fab! Good luck with your DD!

eckerslike · 19/03/2021 09:23

It was alleged on here that William is racist. No evidence has been supplied. I think that is very serious.

eckerslike · 19/03/2021 09:27

And here is proof of PW speaking out about racism:

"Being a chinless ginger isn't necessarily the side someone'd want to take after physically, is it?"

Nice.

Frezia · 19/03/2021 09:34

@Roussette Is this universally accepted that wondering about the skin tone of the unborn baby is always unacceptable? I have two POC in close family - DH and SIL - who both said (unprompted) that they see nothing wrong about such comments in the right context. In fact, they often instigate such conversations themselves (SIL and I are both currently pregnant).

Just to say I have no reason to doubt in this particular case the comment on baby's skin tone was made with racist implications, as I do believe there are many racist pricks in the royal family and in fact it seems to be part of their family legacy.

However, until relatively recently Harry was partaking in that racist culture himself, yet to the best of my knowledge, since he's found wisdom on racist matters he has yet to publicly acknowledge his own role in it. I heard a lot about unconscious bias 'we all have' and how he's tried to educate family members but from his words you'd think he'd never made those mistakes himself.
This is peculiar as other celebrities are held to a higher standard and their public apologies for past mistakes not only demanded but scrutinised for how sincere they are. Yet in the same woke circles Harry tends to get away with glossing over his past just by being associated with Meghan.

IrmaFayLear · 19/03/2021 09:44

Can we all ignore and not re-post things by a certain poster? I am sure both "sides" agree that making unfounded accusations constantly and going on irrelevant rants is tiresome and spoils what should be a "lively" discussion of what is a big news story and thus of interest to many.

Samcro · 19/03/2021 09:46

Being a chinless ginger isn't necessarily the side someone'd want to take after physically, is it? Versus taking after a Hollywood actress. I know which I'd prefer.
bloody hell. do people really think like this?

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/03/2021 09:46

I was also hoping to see the William evidence. Casting aspersions is serious as racism is a hate crime.

Rousette
I’m struggling to understand why you would say something like this and not back it up. You clearly abhor what you see as a smear campaign and have talked of the lack of evidence in the press. Why then post this comment?

IrmaFayLear · 19/03/2021 09:46

I agree that either the poster is in another time zone or a person driven mad with insomnia....

Confusedandshaken · 19/03/2021 09:46

MN is full of people advising others to man up/pull on their big girl pants/go NC with toxic families/read the stately homes threads.

PH and Meghan are doing all of that. They have decided they don't want to do things the way his family does. They are going their own way, speaking up for themselves and and earning their own money. They are not allowing their lives to be dictated by his grannie's advisors.

Those advisors are paid staff who have a vested interest in keeping the whole extended royal family circus under control. Everytime one of the royals branches off and decides to live the life of a modern celebrity the advisors become a little less necessary. With a bit of luck they will soon be entirely redundant.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/03/2021 09:50

Confused
NC doesn’t usually mean going on a talk show with the most famous host on the planet and stretching the truth... ore even your truth to the extent you are bordering on committing treason.

IrmaFayLear · 19/03/2021 09:50

But it's back to the old point of if they wanted to go that was fine. When they went off to Canada I thought, Oh, that's a shame, but good luck to them. I genuinely thought they'd be living a backwoods-type life - hiking and lakeside living, out of the spotlight and getting some privacy.

BUT - they soon did that SussexRoyal thing, which was anything but stepping back (apart from the dreary stuff) and now they're in California, doing Oprah interviews.

That is not going NC and certainly not seeking privacy.

BillieSpain · 19/03/2021 09:54

SoulofanAggron · 19/03/2021 10:01

@Oldbutstillgotit Break a leg Smile

@eggandonion As I understand it, 'beyond the pale' is seen as not politically correct (amongst those that are bothered) because in the past it was used to imply that people in that area weren't as civilized. That we say that something 'beyond the pale,' is not ok, is akin to using 'gay' as an insult. It's also a bit like saying 'bog Irish.'

But I don't agree with getting precious about everything. Smile

However, until relatively recently Harry was partaking in that racist culture himself, yet to the best of my knowledge, since he's found wisdom on racist matters he has yet to publicly acknowledge his own role in it.

@Frezia That's a good point. Aside from Prince Phillip's occasional gaffes, Harry partying in a Nazi costume is the most memorable racially dubious incident from a royal since the 40s or something maybe. Yet he doesn't do the self-flagellation thing most people in the public eye would feel they have to.

So it's a bit hypocritical, isn't it? Like H&M's going on about saving the planet while having 15 bathrooms and travelling in Elton's private jet.

ginghamstarfish · 19/03/2021 10:05

Whatever else MM may be, she appears to be smart and opportunistic. I can't imagine that she would not have gone into this in detail, by herself or with Harry's help, before the wedding. However it appears that the reality of them (her) being 'second fiddle' was more than she could stand.

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 19/03/2021 10:05

But they’ve over egged their pudding.

This. A thousand times. They had plenty legitimate complaints mostly involving the dysfunctional way the palace lets the press treat the women in the family and how they failed to understand the racist undertones actually needed dealt with.
But then she went and over did it for the shock American value. Oprah and ordinary Americans weren't interested in a diatribe on the British press. Unfortunately it just gives their opponents ammunition that they are exaggerating or lying.

Lockdownbear · 19/03/2021 10:07

@Confusedandshaken NC doesn't mean not wanting anything to do with the family business but still want bankrolled by it.

Read back to my fictional soup business family.

Oh Yeah Dad you know how I don't want to work for the business, soups boring and all that, I still want my kid to have shares in it.

Dad - Eh let me think, you want your brother to do all the work but your son to have a hand in the profit!?!
No Son not happening.

ginghamstarfish · 19/03/2021 10:09

the expression ' beyond the pale' has nothing to do with skin colour! Ffs!
