The royal family

Harry has a lot to answer for.

I think Harry has a lot to answer for in this whole debacle. He's a 35 year old man brought up as a Royal who should know how the whole thing works and how to ensure his wife is fully educated in the rules and regs. of being a Royal. She was his wife, why on earth was she going to HR at the Palace for help with mental health problems? Harry has loads of experience and the knowledge of where to get help, what on earth was he doing? Harry knows full well that there is a rule about not being given a royal title when it comes to Archie. Why didn't he explain this to Megan? It has absolutely nothing to do with Archie's skin colour. Why is Harry moaning about having their security removed given his father paid £4m for their security after the tax payer stopped paying after they moved to California?
It is not the Royal family's decision whither or not someone has The Metropolitan Police fly over to do security duties.
Prince William sorted the press out when they were making disparaging comments about Kate, why didn't he put his foot down as his brother did?

@Riv12345

For the people saying that Meghan didn't have a clue what she was getting into

Watch their engagement interview.
They both said they have had talks about what is expected of her etc etc

Yes but how much of the opening leisure centres in Bolton had been explained? Or the fact she’d have to curtsey to Kate...
eckerslike · 18/03/2021 22:52

It's a bit like a job interview, isn't it? Employer should be totally upfront re: the role; employee should ask the questions. But agree, we'll never know whether it was properly explained to MM.

Did MM accept the role in good faith? She may have done. Or did she always have an eye on taking the worldwide fame, the Prince and the dosh and hotfoot it back to the States?

customwatkins · 18/03/2021 22:59

She wanted to be centre stage, she didn't realise how low in the pecking order Harry actually is, and her children even lower.

Her face was always like thunder when her and Harry had to wait and walk behind the other royals. Lots of footage of her pushing in front of Harry and events and walking off leaving him in her wake. Taking over him in conversations.

I believe she thought she could win the public over, weave her magic and it just didn't happen. The press were horrible about her and people didn't warm to her. It must've been a crushing disappointment to a woman who normally gets everything she wants.

I believe a lot of her bitterness was directed at Kate, who makes it seem effortless and is so popular.

She's taken her family to America, where she is loved and does get what she wants. They will have a much nicer life than living in the other royals shadows.

What a pity they had to betray their family - I think they could've achieved it all without stooping so low and causing so much hurt. I think it's the narcissist in her that's trying to prove she's better, she's showing her true colours (is this why the British public couldn't warm to her? She's so transparent and self serving)

eckerslike · 18/03/2021 23:01

yes. All a result as a short courtship before marriage. If they'd dated for say 2 years or more prior to getting spliced the truth might have dawned on her.

Agree - they could have done a very gracious interview with OW - and that would have brought a lot of people onside. But no, they went for the jugular and it's coming back to bite them.

The letters patent thing could have been amended so that the firstborn child (whether a boy or girl) of the eldest son of the POW would be a Prince/Princess.
So if Charlotte had been born first then she would be HRH Princess & the younger siblings Lord/Lady just like Archie is entitled to be a Lord.
Then when Charles is King the rest of grandchildren get their upgrade to HRH.
As previously posted W&K wanted all their children to be treated equally so hence George/Charlotte & Louis being HRH Prince/Princess.

However the whole title argument could have been avoided by having letters patent that said all grandchildren of the POW get the HRH Prince/Princess or they all be Lord/Lady until Charles is King & then get their upgrade.
Personally if I was the Queen I would have created letters patent to title George, Charlotte, Louis & Archie as Lord/Lady with them all becoming HRH Prince/Princess when Charles is King.
Would save arguing.

@LittleBearPad

Oh gosh I didn't realise she had to curtsy to Kate.

Well yes of course. Kate will be Princess of Wales next and then Queen. She’s in a hugely different place to Meghan whose husband will fall further and further down the line of succession as the Cambridge children grow up and marry.

Lockdownbear · 18/03/2021 23:40

@didofido

Didn't the D of E say some time ago, "If they decide don't want us we'll go quietly"? Maybe his heart was never in it, but he's quietly walked behind for decades.
Possibly but I wouldn't say that's because his heart wasn't in it. I'd say that's more because of the way his own family fled Greece. He was very young but still it must have shaped him as a child and man.
SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 18/03/2021 23:42

I cant help but feel that if Kate were the one having to do the curtseying and the pecking order was reversed, that royal life would have suited these two just fine.

Second fiddle just didn’t feel good enough. 🎻

ImpatiensI · 18/03/2021 23:48

The curtseying business is ludicrous.

LittleBearPad · 18/03/2021 23:58

@ImpatiensI

The curtseying business is ludicrous.
But very real. Maybe when Charles is king or William it will be toned down but the Queen is likely set in her ways. She is 94! (Or 95...)
Lockdownbear · 19/03/2021 00:09

I must admit I didn't think they curtsey'd and bowed to each other in private.

I can get it going between different generations, or in public but really brothers bowing to each otherShock

You know that thing about Diana wanting her boys kept as equals, is that what she meant, didn't want 8 yo Harry to have to bow to 10 yo William.
I mean at what point does it become appropriate 18 & 20?
Or when one gets a different title to the other?

Lauren15 · 19/03/2021 00:12

It’s rather disappointing that the only specific criticism of a member of the royal family has been directed at Kate, from not asking M to come shopping (according to Omid) to making M cry when her DD’s bridesmaid’s dress didn’t fit. It’s quite disappointing to see Kate in the frame.

ImpatiensI · 19/03/2021 00:18

@LittleBearPad true she's 94 but this is still 2021! I thought she was the one who wanted the RF to be seen as more grounded. The idea of everyone still bowing and scraping is nuts - do they have to walk backwards out of the room as well??

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 19/03/2021 00:52

I think part of them doing it in private is so they don't forget to do it in public

I missed that, what did MM do to Eugenie?

LittleBearPad · 19/03/2021 01:22

Well she tried (and succeeded) in diverting attention from E to her unbuttoned coat on E’s wedding day. She was only 6/8 weeks or so. There was no need.

FuckYouCorona · 19/03/2021 01:38

Couldn't agree more OP. Spoilt entitled brats, the pair of them! Angry

Allington · 19/03/2021 01:54

Traditionally in private everyone bows/curtseys to the King/Queen the first time they see them in the day. The Queen did to her parents following the abdication, and to Queen Mary (her grandmother) until she (QE2) became Queen. Then Queen Mary curtseyed to her.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 19/03/2021 01:55

There are lots of strange taking the attention off special moments for Eugenie and swinging it onto her self. Like the one posted above or Eugenie announcing the birth of her baby. Then on the same day Me-gain takes to social media with the announcement of this second pregnancy.

I have no idea what is going on. Haz was close to Eugenie and Beatrice once I think. Fergie taught the wife to courtesy etc. All a bit odd.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 19/03/2021 02:09

Actually I should put a bet on about the new baby's name. As Eugenie called her son August. Me-gain will call her daughter July 😂
