Meghan and Kate

I only watched about 25 mins and then switched off. Am sure MM felt exactly as she described. But what I did feel was odd (apart from the whole Archie should have had a title so he had protection when none of the Wessex or York kids have government protection - it was withdrawn a while back) was her comment on the Kate situation. She said “Kate was upset. Kate made me cry. Yes it was about bridesmaid dresses.” Then a story came out 7 months later about how MM had made KM cry which was apparently false.

As soon as she relayed the story it made me think - but why was Kate upset? Had you (perhaps inadvertently) upset her? Maybe the story was true - you had made her cry. Obviously what was missing was the fact MM had been made to cry by Kate. But I don’t think the story that was being peddled was necessarily incorrect.

Did anyone else think the same?

Yes this is the British media showing Meghan love and affection.

So not racist the UK 🙄

DreamyDays77 · 10/03/2021 13:52

@C8H10N4O2

The Duchess of Pork title was definitely also a dig at her weight, whatever else it may have been about

It may have been both but if it is true that she made that comment about bullimia whilst Diana was actually suffering with bullimia then its a pretty disgusting comment to make.

I disagree Fergie had it worst of the marry-ins. The ruthless exploitation or position for advantage by both of the Yorks was astounding and has continued after the divorce. Note also how Andrew has kept all his titles and privileges and not been subject to investigations by the palace whilst H&M should apparently be hung drawn and quartered.

Bastion of white, male privilege displays white, male privilege. No surprise there.

I think it’s because he’s the Queen’s favourite son. Not about anything else. Like all mummy’s with favourite boys getting away with things. I do think the press should re focus on what’s going on with him again but this has become a massive distraction
cyclingmad · 10/03/2021 13:58

Because if it qas about spending too much money on clothes most royal family members have had bad press about that. But these are specific direct comparisons of behaviour only commented on two specific family members.

MammabearX1 · 10/03/2021 13:58

Link above, just breaking... Meghan Markle formal complaint to ITV today re Piers Morgan....
I thought she never listened to or read her own press🤔🤔

DreamyDays77 · 10/03/2021 14:02

I mean Eugenia and Beatrice have had an awful time from the gutter press for their looks, dress sense and working attitude etc

While Kate can do no wrong.

It’s just what the press do. You can google tonnes of articles on various royal family members and the gutter press will stick to villain or hero. The only reason is to wind people up enough to sell papers, it’s not racism

But with the other members did they for example say anything positive or negative about them touching their bumps? For you to be able to say its not coming from a place of racism?

Or the candles and scents in the church.

If the press don't like other members then I'd also expect to see the same comments on them but they haven't.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 10/03/2021 14:17

@DreamyDays77

I’m not naive, it’s been very evident over the last year that it exists but there was no racism towards her evident from press or anywhere I could see when she started dating Harry. Sure there were a faction of racists not happy , same as when Obama was made president there would have been - I’m talking about the majority here , not the narrow minded awful minority. When she started acting like a diva then people turned on her. When Harry acted like a hypocrite and turned on his family people started disliking him too. Actions not racism. I also don’t read the dailyfail ! I know their view is warped
You can deny it, or think you aren't, but you've just proved your naiveté by posting this.
Iamdobby63 · 10/03/2021 14:33

Why does it have to be racist though? Why can’t it be down to a very poor relationship with a very vicious press?

DreamyDays77 · 10/03/2021 14:33

@cyclingmad I do remember there being a lot of issue that fergie chose a private hospital to give birth while Diana chose a maternity ward. They were pitched against each other constantly just like Meghan and Kate are. Why?? Because pitching two women against each other sells papers! Diana was the hero and Fergie the villain. All corresponding articles from gutter press fed that. I’m old enough to have seen it happen time and time again.
I can’t say about specifics like church candles and baby bump holding - you can’t even look online that far back to 90s to see anything. But yes they were constantly compared and in a similar way I remember.
Eugenie and Beatrice don’t really have any counterparts to compare with but have always been picked on due to aesthetics.
I’m just trying to point out it’s not racism.
@IstandwithJackieWeaver no idea what your point is sorry

UsedUpUsername · 10/03/2021 14:36

Wasn’t there a story years ago that Kate made Eugenie cry at some event? This was before her marriage I think, so we’re talking over 10 years ago. Who knows if these things are true or not....

Any way I’m sure I’m not to convince two of you and I’ve been on here loads today ! I need to go and work/ eat Grin I won’t be coming back on as these debates just go round in circles

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 10/03/2021 14:38

Bye!

DreamyDays77 · 10/03/2021 14:41

@IstandwithJackieWeaver see ya 🥰

milveycrohn · 10/03/2021 14:46

Kate had just had a baby (matter of weeks). Very emotional, hormones all over the place; could easily have cried.
Meghan possibly fraught with trying to get everything just right. Large weddings are fraught for anybody, but on such a scale, with all the drama over her father, etc; could easily have cried.
The question is, why is it so important to anyone. Who leaked the original story? Who else was there?
Maybe they both cried.
However, Meghan DOES seem obsessed about Kate, which is strange. There is no reason why two sister in law should get on well.

PurpleBiro21 · 10/03/2021 15:01

Re Meghan being fraught about the wedding, she alluded that this spat (or whatever it was) occurred when it started kicking off about her dad.

She wasn’t just stressed over a public wedding.

Meredithgrey1 · 10/03/2021 17:42

Does she? I don’t think she was really mentioned in the interview except for this incident, and Oprah bringing up how they went to Wimbledon together.

ittakes2 · 10/03/2021 18:04

Wasn't Kate pregnant at the time? I think there is more to the story. In my opinion it's likely they were both upset and both had tears. It is clear that Kate despises Meghan. Kate is usually very good at managing her emotions but not when Meghan is around so it must go deeper than one flower girl problem!

How do you know she despises her?
Port1aCastis · 10/03/2021 18:16

Blimey you would have thought people had actually met these women!

BuggeringBugger · 10/03/2021 18:21

So Kate cries- it's Meghan's fault
Meghan cries- it's still Megan's fault. Interesting!

VanillaIce · 10/03/2021 18:23

I don’t think she (Kate) was really mentioned in the interview except for this incident, and Oprah bringing up how they went to Wimbledon together.

She was alluded to multiple times, also in the clips released the next day. The part about nobody explaining the protocols to her, no training “well, maybe for some people...” (that was a dig at Kate). Also the Australia tour and what a hit Meghan was - Harry definitely heavily implied others in the family were jealous of her popularity. Who else was he referring to if not Kate and William?

And in an extra clip released the next day, she directly talked about Kate’s relationship with the press. She said Kate had had years of rude press but that “racist and rude are not the same”, ie the articles about me were more hurtful.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 10/03/2021 18:49

I watched the interview and my goodness some of you heard and understood an awful lot more than I did!

pabloescobarselasticband · 10/03/2021 19:52

Posters who defend her always say that none of us know her personally, so how do you explain away the negative things that people who do know her personally or have had experience of meeting her say about her?
