Meghan and Kate

I only watched about 25 mins and then switched off. Am sure MM felt exactly as she described. But what I did feel was odd (apart from the whole Archie should have had a title so he had protection when none of the Wessex or York kids have government protection - it was withdrawn a while back) was her comment on the Kate situation. She said “Kate was upset. Kate made me cry. Yes it was about bridesmaid dresses.” Then a story came out 7 months later about how MM had made KM cry which was apparently false.

As soon as she relayed the story it made me think - but why was Kate upset? Had you (perhaps inadvertently) upset her? Maybe the story was true - you had made her cry. Obviously what was missing was the fact MM had been made to cry by Kate. But I don’t think the story that was being peddled was necessarily incorrect.

Did anyone else think the same?
@SirChing you keep proving your numb nuttery, the nanny would have been close protection trained and there would have been police in/ around the house and internal alarms that would have their own response team
A nanny is not a close protection police officer. That's hilarious! It takes YEARS to train as one. You really think the nanny os trained as they are? Grin

And again, the child may have reasons to have to LEAVE a house with the nanny.

And you think I am the numbnut?!? Grin

I'm not reporting you for personal attacks because I wouldn't want to deprive others of the hilarity of your posts. But it's very childish. Seriously, calm yourself down. It's not a good look.

SirChing · 09/03/2021 22:13
@SirChing noone's stopping them. They're just calling out their CFERY of wanting to use limited public money rather than deplete their own, even though they are no longer in public service. Laughing at the bitter comments Grin
Erm, they don't. They have said they are happy to pay for their own security now they aren't working royals. As said earlier in the thread.....

Anyway, I don't engage with people who seem unstable or seem like a child who has access to their parents mumsnet account, so I shall leave it here.

have a nanny who came from Norland they have an extremely high level of training re defence and combat. I know what I am talking about

But not well enough to understand the difference between domestic staff training in security and close protection duties.

Malteser71 · 09/03/2021 23:36

Where on earth did you read that?

nimbuscloud · 09/03/2021 23:39

The story surfacing in the Times

Have you a link ?

Malteser71 · 09/03/2021 23:40

Yes because it’s not on their website....

Chloemol · 09/03/2021 23:49

MM upset Kate who had just had the baby etc etc. Kate apparently made the first move by taking her flowers, but the article I read says MM slammed the door in her face

I don’t believe the press behaved any worse than they have with any other member, Kate and her family had it bad as well

I don’t believe most of what Meghan said, and indeed she contradicts herself on a couple of occasions

I am now not taking any more notice

Andylion · 10/03/2021 00:05

It's hard to escape the fact that the RF will change the rules to prevent a mixed race baby from being a Prince,

Charles has been planning a slimmed down monarchy for a long time, well before Harry met Meghan.

Allusernamesalreadyused · 10/03/2021 00:09

Was the row not over royal protocol of flower girl wearing tights and Meghan didn't want that. Not sure where I heard that. Kate will go by the rules but she not long after having a baby. Megan was probably up to ninety. Look they are two women pitched together in the extremely difficult world of british royalty. Good luck to them both. Mind your wee babies and just forget the nasty in mediaFlowers

hotclothbuns · 10/03/2021 00:26

How come she knows all of this when she doesn't read the papers/google anything apart from how to curtsy? And whoever is relaying the information on the stories, why are they not telling her all the main stories but only some. Why didn't they tell her about the hand on the bump story? Hmm

LIamaDelRey · 10/03/2021 00:34

Daily telegraph in Australia were carrying the Megs slammed door in Kate's face story revealed by ''insiders'' but tis stuck behind a sodding paywall...

LIamaDelRey · 10/03/2021 00:40

Tis either tights protocol or Charlotte's dress not fitting and needing further appointment. Kate allegedly went to cottage with flowers but Megs not having any of it Confused

scottsdc15 · 10/03/2021 05:13
@SirChing that 10 million was very well invested with advantageous tax arrangements and was valued at around 40 + million when he came of an age to access it. Also, they could have bought a much more modest mansion in a more secluded area. Any which way you spin it, they 'ain't on the breadline and never will be!
This a million times over.

Also Archie is not the only baby that deserves protection. Every baby does, but Harry and Meghan have more than enough money to provide security for their own child, with their existing wealth. It beyond hilarious for them to claim that they left because they needed to earn money for Archie’s protection since their multiple statements revealed that they felt entitled and fully expected to continue to receive tax payer funded continuing protection in the first place.

Nice revisionism on their part.

MammabearX1 · 10/03/2021 06:49

Even when Kate was young & had just starting seeing William no one has ever spoken out about her or said she was mean, unkind or bitch. Kate moved schools due to bullying. Everyone has said she was sporty, studious, kind & fun in school.
Meghan has so many detractors.. Everything her sister said about her before & after the wedding is unfolding before our eyes

RaggieDolls · 10/03/2021 06:57

Surely the tights thing is to do with the fact the little bridesmaids were bare foot in their shoes rather than protocol over being bare legged?

I wouldn't have wanted my DD to wear enclosed shoes with no socks or tights at that age. My DD had little frilly socks when she was a bridesmaid at the same age.

I'm not saying I'd have fallen out over it but I can see how it could quickly escalate when the discussion was being had by two stressed out people.

MammabearX1 · 10/03/2021 07:02

@goodbyestranger

I thought Kate cried, or was more prone to crying, because she was still wobbly about William sleeping with Rose while she was pregnant with Louis. Allegedly. Also, she was - allegedly - jealous of the attention being given to the - again allegedly - much more attractive and charismatic Meghan. Obviously, not a good cocktail for Kate, to be completely fair to her, even without being postpartum.
Wonder if the whole story was leaked much later to cover up or detract from Williams indescretions?
Windchangeface · 10/03/2021 07:03

@frazzledasarock

What’s wrong with M&H trademarking things William and Kate did it as well

Hmm W&K can do this because they are working royals who simultaneously do the work, charity and obligations which come with that! It’s a trade off of benefits vs obligations. They earn a massive amount for the country (much more than they cost) and do fantastic charity works.

They do the job and in return they collect the pay/benefits that’s why it’s fair. What MM & H have done is decide they want to be free of all the obligations, control and work that comes with being royal ... but cash in on being royal regardless for their own benefit!

Hmm If you quit the job you don’t expect to keep getting the pay and benefits! That’s just very entitled.

SomethingWitchy · 10/03/2021 07:03

Yes, it's a very odd thing to claim categorically that she (Meghan) did not make Kate cry. Purely because - how would you know?

Just because she didn't cry in front of you doesn't mean it never happened.

I can understand her feeling aggrieved if only half a story was told but that utter denial about something she couldn't possibly know (and at a time when Kate had only just given birth when she must know it's even more plausible) does speak to me if someone very self-focused at least.

The whole, "she brought flowers and owned it and apologised and I've forgiven her" struck a similarly wrong note for me too in that it's very one-way and designed to not-so-subtly cast Meghan as injured innocent graciously dispensing forgiveness rather than acknowledging any part she may have played.

Wouldn't it have been far more gracious to say, "emotions were running high with a big stressful wedding coming up and Kate having only just given birth and there was some upset for both of us which was quickly forgiven and forgotten on all sides. Kate even brought me flowers afterwards which was lovely"?

snowcoveredcampsies · 10/03/2021 07:27

@Windchangeface they absolutely do not earn more than they cost. This has been dispelled many times.

pabloescobarselasticband · 10/03/2021 07:34

Ahh but people are not allowed to have an opinion on Meghans character because it's immediately dismissed as racism! They couldn't possibly have formed an opinion of her due to her reported behaviour, her family/ex friends all saying what she is like, what we have actually seen with our own eyes! Nope it must only be formed because of the colour of her skin.....utter bollocks if you ask me! I think Harry is an unintelligent, spoilt brat as well, is that because he's ginger! It's actually laughable!
Meredithgrey1 · 10/03/2021 07:39

@pabloescobarselasticband

Ive not read the whole threat so sorry if it's already been mentioned. The story surfacing in the Times that MM didn't actually tell the whole story, yes her a kate fell out, yes kate took flowers to her the next day, to which MM responded by shutting the door in her face and throwing them in the bin. So not gracefully accepting the apology like she insinuated on the Oprah interview!
So press which reported that it was Meghan who made Kate cry are now reporting, seemingly without a hint of self awareness, that yes it was actually the other way round, but that now some other source says Meghan didn’t accept the apology graciously?
RosesAndHellebores · 10/03/2021 07:39

Things I know about MM:
Divorced (ex has stayed quiet)
Has fallen out with her father and half sister who have both behaved with little grace.
Successful and strong willed
Has little respect for protocol
Was introduced to Harry by Eugenie
Wedding plans meant Eugenie had to delay her wedding
Turned up at Eugenie's wedding having dressed her bump to show and announced pg at the wedding stealing the bride's day.
Overshadowed birth of Eugenie's son with announcement of her pregnancy photo showed Harry can no longer afford shoes actually I think the bare feet were a sign of emasculated vulnerability.
Detests press attention yet appears on Oprah.

It seems to me that every action is designed to direct the spotlight.

Had H&M insisted on a title for Archie it would have appeared incredibly crass bearing mind two children of the reigning monarch hadn't. Harry is a younger son of the Prince of Wales.
