Harry & Meghan - to hope the Royals answer back?

I think the allegations in the Oprah interview are serious enough that protocol should be breached and the Royals should have a voice to give their side too.

I would love to know what the comment was. When I was pregnant we speculated if my baby would have red hair as husband has reddish brown hair and red hair strongly runs in his family. When my friend was pregnant she openly wondered what he babies skin colour would be because her partner was of colour and she was very pale so she used to joke about it. Maybe something was said but I do feel these they are quite defensive and sensitive to people's comments so I hope it wasn't just a breakdown in communication

We’re a mixed race family with members of the family coming from 4 continents. When a new baby is on the way we spend time wondering out loud as to which parent the baby will take after or will it be both. It’s even more interesting when a sibling is being born and we end up with combinations we never even thought of.

It’s no different to my British side of the family when someone is pregnant and both parents are white.

I suspect thats as far as the supposed conversation went

He has 10 million from princess Di and she is a reasonably famous actress so I can't be too concerned about them being financially cut off but perhaps they need to look at their outgoings?

Saying a black woman looks for issues surrounding race?? The MM is purposefully searching for racism? She doesn’t need to look, it is glaringly obvious in every aspect of her life the poor woman.

Tell me you’re white without telling me you’re white Confused How embarrassing and racist of you.

No - it's just more grist to the mill.

What they should do though as well as looking into bullying allegations is to review wider working practices on how they support new members into the family. A look at the Swedish model would be a good start (where they have Prince/Princess school before marrying in and are taught protocol, internationally relations, about the constitution etc and then decided if they want in or out).

Also their press policy. We hear about never explain never complain but that's not really true.

There are plenty of times they have issued statements refuting xyz "claims" but I didn't see any wrt M and the press she received.

It should be a period of reflection for the Palace not a tit for tat.

I'm not saying I think the interview was a good idea (I don't think it was) but it's done and feel unless the only winner is to be Oprah everyone needs to calm down a salvage what they can from this car crash.

I have never heard anybody speculate about what a baby will look like or take after before it's born. Afterwards yes, there's a shedload of 'oooooh he's got his father's ears'
I think this was a comment about race and they are right to take it that way. But that was a private family matter and should not be held over the head of the family like this. FWIW my money is on one of the minor royals making it of zero constitutional interest.
Wrong on both sides tbh.

I think PH and MM have wilfully ignored any kindness shown to them by the Queen and the RF.
PC walked her down the aisle in the absence of her father. Her mother was welcomed into the family and accompanied them on royal visits.
Just so petulant and spiteful to ignore the goodwill they both enjoyed.

You’ve literally never heard people speculate who a baby will take after?

They might have pause for thought, given how Harry and Meghan mentioned email and letter evidence.

For instance, why would Harry accuse Charles of lying about financially supporting them?

The Royals don't move that way anyway. They just throw mud via their journalist puppets like Dan Wootton.

I am on the fence as I am sure there are truths and untruths in what the said. The most striking things for me was that, ‘she still expected their security costs to met’ and that ‘she wrote to Royal Family about it’. Words from her own mouth.

Added to the ‘poor me’ from Harry. ‘We were cut of financially and only had the money left to him by Diana” 10million pounds!

I don’t think the family need to respond. If I were Queen, I would want to command everyone to shut up about it. It will die back soon enough.

Really? I would imagine the vast majority of families and their friends would discuss what a baby would look like. I did with my husband and relatives. We even had a list on the fridge of suggestions from people as to what colour hair and eyes baby would have.

Remember Diana shared that Charles was disappointed by Harry being ginger, let's not act like they are above considering the physical. Though obviously there are deeper implications when it comes to considering whether the child of a mixed race mother might be dark skinned.

We did in our family. Most was around ‘red hair’...

So many disgusting people on here.

You have to be a bit of a fool to believe the bile you read in the tabloids. They are a bunch of misogynists who go after anyone who doesn't give them what they want and perform how they demand.

So many lives destroyed by the press over so many years and still people buy into it.

Saying that black women look for issues surrounding race is very obviously racist. Saying this particular black women seems to do so? No I don’t think so, it’s a judgement based on her own actions and words.

I have a question. The clip I’ve seen Meghan just says there was a conversation about how dark Archie’s skin would be but she doesn’t clarify what was said. Has she explained further?

As it’s conceivable that someone simply said to Harry that he would need to be prepared for some difficult reactions from some members of the public / media if Archie was darker skinned, and comments on parentage. Which I don’t think is a horrendous thing to say, it’s unfortunate but sadly also accurate.

Unless I’ve missed it and she’s clarified what was actually said, why are people assuming that ‘conversation’ = racist comment?

If that was the case then surely they would pay for royal protection for Archie?

A near 40 year old man with millions in the bank, should not have to be financially supported by his father .

And this is how we know you are commenting from a position of ignorance. Because she has talked about and acknowledged those things.

Either that or you're lying to feed your narrative of hatred.

I keep expecting MM to say I'll scweam and scweam until I'm sick.

It's upper class Jeremy Kyle and I do hope the Royal Family don't even acknowledge the interview at all.

If Harry were one of my friends I'd be concerned about his change in behaviour and isolation from his family after meeting a new partner.

Comparisons to princess diana who ridiculously young when she got married are pointless. MM was mid 30s divorcee with a successful career, not a teenager Hmm

@Tippexy

They need to put out a statement about the fact that great grandchildren typically don’t get titles, at the very least.

I think the onus should be on us to understand how our royal family works.

What narrative of hatred would that be. I don’t know you, or them, quite a big assumption you are making there.
Anyway I won’t respond to any further comments from you.

In my view we've seen a narcissist (I have experience of this) who is estranged from her family successfully ensure that her husband is also estranged from his.

In mine, we've seen how weak Harry is. Saying that he's happy he finally got to escape his former lifestyle thanks to Meghan while she's just spoken about feeling suicidal when expecting their first child. Nothing was stopping him from leaving his role as a single man - except the lack of a handy female scapegoat. If he left Meghan today he'd be welcomed back home with open arms. Not his fault he got Yoko'd, after all those evil narc women are everywhere, right?

It also didn't escape me that he spoke about her as if she was an attractive business proposal - bringing diversity into the firm, appealing to the commonwealth Hmm
