The royal family

Harry & Meghan - to hope the Royals answer back?

I think the allegations in the Oprah interview are serious enough that protocol should be breached and the Royals should have a voice to give their side too.

Aspiring matriarch people object to being lied to. Particularly when the people spreading those lies are trying to claim the moral high ground.

I think that the Queen should ask the Archbishop a few questions about this?
I honestly think it was a rehearsal and Harry probably told her it was the 'real thing ' as whatever Meghan wants etc
He was more interested in feeding the chickens and giving Oprah some eggs than listening to her. It was bizarre.

I'm glad someone else thinks the henhouse conversations were weird.. Oprah even looked at Harry to include him in and he barely made eye contact. He certainly didn't enthuse.. Very odd. And I'm very much on their 'side' wrt leaving etc. The dysfunction of being brought up Royal is also very obvious, where he is so incredulous at having been 'cut off financially'!

Out of interest, was William being constantly trailed by security while at university?!

The80sweregreat Meghan's an intelligent woman in her late 30s. To imply Harry told her it was a real wedding and she believed him is ridiculous!

This was the woman baptised into the Church of England using the Lily Font reserved for royal baptisms. Part of the Crown Jewels.

Yes, I think he did have security at university. My friend was there at the same time (different year, different course). She said she wouldn't ever have noticed him hanging round except she always saw a big van with tinted windows parked up. Then she would see him walking by.

I think it's clear it was an exchange of vows, which obviously meant a lot to them personally. I'm struggling to see who that hurts or how it invalidates or disrespects the subsequent wedding, which absolutely was a spectacle for the world (a lovely one). And Harry did confirm it in the clip I've watched. Two ceremonies is not even that unusual, my sister did something similar although the first (smaller) wedding was the legal bit.

I liked Meghan and watched her wedding and thought it was fantastic, a complete breath of fresh air. Then the announcement she was pregnant, happy days. I was so looking forward to seeing the royal baby.

Then they decided to be secretive about the birth, the announcement, the god parents, the christening. I didn’t understand why all the secrecy and this is the point I became wary of their agenda. They didn’t seem to want to follow royal protocol and I’m going to be honest, that’s when I went off both of them.

Queue the stepping back, fair enough. But their SussexRoyal page announcements felt like they were purposely making digs at the Royal family. It was at this point I decided I didn’t actually like them anymore. The tabloids had no part in my opinions of them.

I’m glad William had spoken out, he knows his brother best

This I agree with

It was rather unthinking to talk about it in the interview though. As people got very invested in the wedding. Like telling kids about the tooth fairy

Basically a mixture of unthinking Harry and stage managed Meghan seems to grate on people 🤔

@Aspiringmatriarch because she said we got married , not we had a private wedding practice or a practice if vows
If thats all they wanted , why not just have a small wedding , that would if been allowed.
Don't think william as heir would of been allowed a non public wedding but M & H could of
Also if the were able to pick up phone to archbishop so easily , then some of the other claims about not being able to arrange anything don't ring true ?
There are some holes in the stories, whilst I don't doubt some is true I think other things are a bit ambiguous and very much only from their perception

This pair have shown themselves to be ungrateful, tacky, grabby whingers. Most families would surely have someone who might speculate on what a child will look like when the parents have different colouring - as PPs have said many times. I guess this has been twisted to be 'racist'. Re the giant 'spectacle' wedding inflicted on this precious pair - as a taxpayer I'd be grateful if they repaid it. Pair of self centred idiots.

Yes that's fair enough, I just don't see why people are quite so outraged. It's all so over the top.

Why is it ridiculous? According to her she had never ever googled one of the most famous men in the world when she first met him and knew nothing about Royal protocol etc etc! She was a bit clueless about many aspects of his life , he might have said 'it's a British thing to have two weddings' and as her internet searching seem patchy at times she might have fell for it? I don't know, it's just a theory.
The Archbishop is a ' mate' apparently and important enough to convince her maybe?
Whatever went on there many other people are questioning it too as a bit odd.

No I haven’t changed my mind because security was taken away after they stepped down from royal duty and move to America.

Think we need a follow up interview to answer all the unanswered and for h&m to smooth it over. Like do you actually mean u didn't want that wedding you didn't enjoy it. You didn't like doing your job it was all a front but at the same time you still wanted to serve the queen so which is it u loved your work or it was fake? If it was all fake smiles I've gone off them a bit but I don't think they didn't love their work I think Harry is just crap at explaining he should have said you can have moments and days you enjoy but when you get back behind closed doors and experience the unbelievable lies and bitching from media you feel all alone again. Where did he get his therapy from what mh help did she actually want that she couldn't get from googling like she did for royal protocols who exactly refused and are you telling me that this is the first the family have heard of these mh struggles because "it's not a family conversation we would have" cos if it is then it's all a big fuck up noone knew the truth cos noone communicates and they can all make up n live happily after the end

Well a Q&A statement then just answer my questions without cameras that will do and will go a long way to diffusing the situation I think

I wonder if there was somewhere specific that Meghan wanted to go for help that was deemed too public/visible and advisors were wanting her to accept therapy provided within palace walls, so to speak. It would seem odd that nothing would be offered.

It was all for us obviously. The loathesome British public. Give the plebs a glimpse of royalty/ Hollywood glam. Plus the opportunity to invite all their seemingly new Hollywood royalty pals (who are stepping up to defend them now).

I didn’t watch it...

Meghan wanted to check into somewhere, like the priory for instance. Now the person who told her it would look bad was actually doing her a favour because in the uk checking into rehab is generally associated with having an issue with alcohol or drugs. If the press had discovered she was in somewhere like that they would have had an absolute field day at her expense! Meghan just chose to misconstrue what was said to her!

so it's spiteful of the uk public? Not so spiteful when we paid millions for that wedding though were we?

@pabloescobarselasticband
Of course it's not spiteful of the British public. The British public has no say in what money goes to the monarch and absolutely no say in how it is spent.

It's spiteful of the RF itself not to provide funds for security. After all, the paragon of virtue Andrew has security which is bankrolled by his mother.
