The royal family

Harry & Meghan - to hope the Royals answer back?

I think the allegations in the Oprah interview are serious enough that protocol should be breached and the Royals should have a voice to give their side too.

@Blacktothepink

The rf will start leaking bits to the media, I suspect.

Re Harry’s titles, I think she can take away Duke title, but as a son of the heir he will automatically be a Prince.
I read the other day that removing him from succession is for Parliament.
Happy to propose that - they can remove Andrew too.

The Royal Family will continue to be the bad guys unless and until they put their house in order. Not saying extradite Andrew as we know that’s always a one way street, but full cooperation from this side of the Atlantic should not be in question.

I have a question. The clip I’ve seen Meghan just says there was a conversation about how dark Archie’s skin would be but she doesn’t clarify what was said. Has she explained further?

As it’s conceivable that someone simply said to Harry that he would need to be prepared for some difficult reactions from some members of the public / media if Archie was darker skinned, and comments on parentage. Which I don’t think is a horrendous thing to say, it’s unfortunate but sadly also accurate.

Unless I’ve missed it and she’s clarified what was actually said, why are people assuming that ‘conversation’ = racist comment?

They are happy to protect the paedophile prince behind a wall of silence, so I really doubt they are about to expose the racists among them. And they are (unfortunately) secure in the knowledge that half the public and most of the press agree with them anyway. Sad

It would just turn into a he said, she said.

I don’t understand why they’ve done this?
What do they hope to gain?
He must know the family aren’t going to engage in a public tabloid slanging match.
If what they’ve said is absolutely true then that’s sad for all concerned but how do they think laying it all out for the gawking masses is going to help? It’s not going to get the press to leave them alone? Not for a while anyway.
I haven’t watched it and don’t intend to. I have no issue with them and completely respected they’re choice to live where and how they choose.
This public debacle seems pointless and shit stirring and it’s beneath all of them.

Agree that their actions regarding Andrew stink.

So far as Meghan is concerned i haven’t really formed a view on it as it’s essentially a load of unsubstantiated comments on both sides but M&Hs very deliberate vagueness re: the conversation does make me inclined to disbelieve them.

Well I dont know about you @Slumpington but, in my experience, people of colour are pretty damn good at differentiating between genuine concern and racist intent. Indeed, it is really only white people who seem to have a problem doing this. Hmm

Do you really think that a mixed race woman needs someone to point out to her that racism in the UK is a thing?

I never thought it was Philip, I assumed it was Andrew. Or Princess Michael of Kent.

But if it wasn't Philip, I wish they'd clarify it. He's been a mess in the past but if he was blameless in this particular regard, then I don't think it's fair to have people assume it in what's probably his last year of life.

I would love them to put out a statement.

I live in a Republic so no undivided loyalty to the monarchy but I think H & M are vile. I think they are come across incredibly entitled, very damaged, manipulative people.

I don't have any sympathy for them and think they should now give up their titles and have absolutely nothing to do with a family and institution they despise so much. You know so they can't make money of the back of said institution they hate and should now focus on their energy on coming up with more meaningful rubbish to spout out publicly for the rest of human kind to learn from.

I think their need to be heard and their living in a prison narrative is completely insulting to your know the billions of people around the world with actual problems.

They are completely and utterly tone deaf to their privilege and if he was my brother or son I would want fuck all to do with him.

I haven’t watched the interview. Only the clip re this comment. I believe she says the conversation was with Harry, not her.

So no, I don’t find inconceivable that one of Harry’s relatives might have had a conversation about this issue out of genuine concern for his welfare, at some stage.

It’s equally possible that someone made a horrendous racist remark to him.

We have no clue as H&M have chosen to bring it up without giving any specifics. But the coy use of ‘there was a conversation’ makes me question whether it might have been the above, that’s all.

£££ for the interview?

They weren't paid and Oprah's already made of money.

This wasn't about money it was about being allowed to give their account of what happened to them and why they left.

I would love to know what the comment was. When I was pregnant we speculated if my baby would have red hair as husband has reddish brown hair and red hair strongly runs in his family. When my friend was pregnant she openly wondered what he babies skin colour would be because her partner was of colour and she was very pale so she used to joke about it. Maybe something was said but I do feel these they are quite defensive and sensitive to people's comments so I hope it wasn't just a breakdown in communication.

I suspect this will make M&H in the US and they will be more unpopular in the uk but they don't care. This is about fame and income in the US.

No strong views about M&H or the RF.

I don't know what the interview has achieved except more speculation.

Waste of time, mediation or private meetings involving those concerned would be so much more professional and possibly resolve the issues, or at the very least give and understand each other's points of view. This resolves nothing.

there should be, their comments don't stand up to scrutiny.

they were desperate to keep the Sussex Royal brand, and the patronages, this is all a giant strop for not getting everything they want in the way they want it.

I don't blame Charles for stopping taking calls, he's quite old and probably got sick to the back teeth of the constant demands. Was he not taking calls when he had Covid? boo bloody hoo.

meltinthemiddle quite. I am ginger and freckly and my husband is mediterranean and people often say how 1 child looks like him (darker skin and hair) and 1 takes after me (pale and burns). I've never felt offended. I think MM looks for issues.

Everything is about making more money to them. They'll rake in contracts and sponsorships off the Poor Me act interview.
