After The Sun published a report claiming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex agreed to appear in a Netflix reality program, a spokesperson for the couple shot down the rumors.

"The Duke and Duchess are not taking part in any reality shows," the spokesperson said.

The streaming service also addressed the speculation.

"The couple already has several projects in development, including an innovative nature docuseries and an animated series that celebrates inspiring women," the company told NBC, "but we are not disclosing any of the programming slate at this time."

Earlier this month, E! News confirmed that Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, signed a multiyear deal with Netflix to produce films and series, including scripted series, docuseries, documentaries, features and children's programming. The focus of this work will be to shine a light on stories and issues that resonate with them personally and align with their nonprofit Archewell.

"Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope," the pair said in a statement to The New York Times at the beginning of September. "As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us."

They also told the newspaper Netflix's "unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action."

@Roussette

How, exactly, is this “bullying”? Serious question.

Please stop making things up. I did not say it was 'bullying'

I said I felt the way the RF travel expenses was reported in that article was unfair. With 9 paragraphs and huge photo of H&M and the rest of the RF down the bottom.

Do not say I have posted calling it 'bullying' when I haven't. I do not make up things about your posting, and I don't expect you to do that with me.

.

Your entire narrative on every single thread you post on regarding this subject is that Meghan (in particular) is being bullied & bashed by the UK media.

You even said the other day that you don’t really care about them but think the bashing is unfair. *I am paraphrasing...you may have used a different word from “bashing” but that was the gist.

Your referencing of the tour money story was more “evidence” for this narrative.

Now, that’s your point of view, and you’re entitled to it, of course...but I am taking issue. I don’t think they’ve been bullied or subject to unfair treatment at all. They are largely the architects of their own poor press and I think that can be demonstrated.

Iknowthingsthatwillhappen · 28/09/2020 17:52

Netflix do not actually seem to be denying the story completely? Confused

Zuluqueen · 28/09/2020 17:52

I’m not going to give examples of racism Meghan faced on MN. Mumsnet acknowledged this in the thread linked on here. Mumsnet zapped threads & posts that were racist were rightfully deleted. So no I’m not imagining that it happened. Being a POC and being compared to a disgusting dirty animal is not flattering .

SwordfishShashlik · 28/09/2020 17:54

Well, this has escalated quickly.

@Jaxsbum

And now we have gone full circle and are back to the bump touching!
No.

I am highlighting a case of “Meghan bashing” that wasn’t.

And who is “them”, precisely? How rude. I am one person.

WiserOwl · 28/09/2020 17:54

Kate was derided by the media for a decade before they cut her slack. No way was Meghan ever going to hack that.

People forget quickly though. I used to think, omg, how does she stick it, they give every single thing she does the most negative interpretation possible.

And then it ended. She's earned her stripes in their eyes by enduring a decade of being called waity katey etc, having her mother insulted for being a social climber (even though the royal family were looking down on the middletons Confused her mother was trashed for chewing gum, for having been an air hostess, for making their own money. The media went for every little thing they had on her. Not much. Even uncle gary couldn't be bought. The worst thing Uncle gary ever did was take cocaine in Ibiza and get fat and be papped in an unflattering white vest. But he never spoke to the media!

So........ Meghan should have done her research. She should have looked at what Kate went through. How she reacted. What made it end.

But she and harry both seem to have done the opposite of what would be the wise thing to do at every turn.

PainyRuddles · 28/09/2020 17:55

A Netflix spokesman told the Press Association: "The couple already has several projects in development, including an innovative nature docu-series and an animated series that celebrates inspiring women but we are not disclosing any of the programming slate at this time."

I fail to see how any nature docu-series could be any more innovative than those that have been done, incredibly well, by Sir David Attenborough.

Given that the Royal Family, and presumably at some point, Harry, have all taken part in hunting, be it foxes, grouse, or even Deer, I find the idea of Harry having anything to do with such a series, vastly bizzare. That is of course, my opinion.

I do not need convincing that Meghan has received racist attacks. I have seen them myself and they're vile. However there have been regular assertions on these threads that any criticism of her is based in racism and it has forced people off MN and lead posters being banned.

The moderators have removed post that have not been even faintly “racist”. So that’s hardly evidence.

I have never seen any racism whatsoever directed at Meghan on this site. I have seen lots of people being accused, and lots of people defending themselves.

And the accusers never, ever point to particular posts. Just like you haven’t.

Any human being can be compared to a rat. I don’t think that’s an exactly pleasant way to describe someone, but “racist”.

Being white and being compared to a filthy, disgusting animal is not flattering either.

WeMarchOn · 28/09/2020 17:59

I'm sure i heard on news she wants to run for president 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve seen them too. But elsewhere, never on MN.

I have been off these threads for quite a while, vaguely wishing H&M well. I just came back to check in due to the rumours of a reality show. I just wanted to comment quickly on the racism accusations.

I have never seen Rousette play the racism card (Unless she changed in the last 1-2 months, which I doubt).

There have been racist comments (some reported by me) which have justifiably been deleted.

There are also certain posters who are seeing racism absolutely everywhere. I have been told that I am racist. I have never made a racist post. I have been quite measured in my comments here and defended H&M in other places.

Why was I told I was racist? Because I posted on threads where there had been racist comments. Guilty by association Shock. Funnily enough, this was after I spent quite some time trying to see if there was anything I could do to suggest stricter moderation against racism and posted on that.

I believe anyone who comes to these threads with the assumption that all posters are racist, may take the racism card slightly too far.

Chatnotnet · 28/09/2020 18:11

@nofox well said👏👏

Roussette · 28/09/2020 18:12

@MoreHippoThanPenguin
Thanks

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 28/09/2020 18:14

Can I also clarify that the threads were H&M threads.

When I protested that I had never made a racist comment, I was told something along the lines “of course you are racist, you have been posting on the H&M thread. If you lie down with dogs, you get fleas”.

JaJaDingDong · 28/09/2020 18:17

Being a POC and being compared to a disgusting dirty animal is not flattering

It's not exactly flattering whatever the colour of your skin is, it's it?

Hence I still don't see it as racist.

@NoFoxToGive

Just because someone says something is “racist” doesn’t mean it actually is. Just because someone “reports” racism doesn’t mean it’s actually racism. And just because a post is removed, doesn’t mean it was genuine racism.

I have sat and watched, in real time, accusations made against “racist posts” that were nothing of the kind & yet they got zapped.

Accusing someone wrongly of being a racist or a misogynist is reprehensible. And any forum that allows such hatred directed at others with such impunity should not be claiming it’s “against personal attacks”. That IS a personal attack and should be seen as such.

Fab post
NoFoxToGive · 28/09/2020 20:18

Which of the following guidelines did my last post break? I would like to know. Seriously.

No personal attacks
No posts that break the law, including hate speech of any kind
No trolling, misleading or deliberately inflammatory behaviour
No trollhunting
No spamming

I didn’t do any of these things.

If you’re just going to make rules up as you go, why bother to link to the guidelines? It hardly clarifies the matter.
