Are we not allowed to link to Blind Gossip on Mumsnet?

Not on Meghan and Harry threads. It’s part of the unwritten rules for these threads that are arbitrarily enforced.
Oldbutstillgotit · 10/10/2020 09:49

It’s quite easy to find .

Well he's going to have to leave the USA for a short spell soon to not fall foul of visa regs. I expect he'll arrive back under the radar, hunker down somewhere for the required amount of time and quietly fly back.

He may already be here for all we know.

Agree, but you've forgotten the "secretly visit some worthy cause with a photographer in tow and release pictures a week or two later".

JaJaDingDong · 10/10/2020 10:49

Ah yes! To be released the next time a significant family member has a birthday/baby/significant accomplishment

ajandjjmum · 10/10/2020 11:08

Isn't Charles' birthday in November - would work nicely! Smile Actually, wouldn't it be lovely if Harry and Archie came over to celebrate with him.

JaJaDingDong · 10/10/2020 11:14

Megs isn't going to allow Archie to come to the UK with his father, without her. Even though she's happy for her and H to travel together but without him.

We haven't had a zoom lecture for a few days. Surely we warrant another one soon?

I thought she didn’t read anything about herself, whether it was positive or criticism so how would she know?

Oldbutstillgotit · 10/10/2020 20:09

Good point @ SunbathingDragon I don’t think many of us believed that !

Roussette · 10/10/2020 20:13

I'm going to leave this here. And won't be back. But perhaps some people on here - and elsewhere - could look to themselves and just think you are spreading hate about someone who really has done nothing to you.
So... Harry didn't fit in with his family, he was unhappy, he moved elsewhere with his baby and the woman he married. Is that so bad? With what's going on in the world?
No.
Good on them.
They've done all that's asked of them except give up their titles which is a constitutional process and can't happen just like that

I will not contribute to someone's mental health suffering. I will not troll someone in order to make myself feel righteous. Just be kind and let them go. And when you talk about them 'lecturing', if it offends you that much, don't listen. To a lot of people, it's not lecturing.
Some people appreciate what they're saying.

Anyway. Here it is. I expect a backlash here and everywhere because it's 'Roussette' posting here. Copy and paste all you like, I'm immune, I don't care a damn, do your worst. I won't respond to trolls and those that hate.

SunbathingDragon · 10/10/2020 20:15

I certainly didn’t believe it. Grin

It also appears that Meghan was wrong and owes an apology to Adele and Gemma. It’s a shame that once again what could have been beneficial for others has been overshadowed by Meghan making something about herself and not those intended to be helped. These won’t be the headlines charities will want, especially if they are also paying her to speak.

Harry and Meghan - everyone still being respectful please
Oldbutstillgotit · 10/10/2020 20:21

@ Roussette as always , I respect your views however have to take issue with the titles thing which is what bugs me most . They can voluntarily give up their titles . End of .
It only becomes a constitutional issue if they refuse and the UK Govt gets involved .
I don’t hate H and M. I wish them well but would like them to drop the hypocrisy, stop the lecturing and get on with living the private lives they claim they want .

OP posts:
GingerScallop · 10/10/2020 20:46

To be fair, she said she was told, not that she read. No matter their mistakes they haven't deserved daily criticism. Must take a toll on their mental health. Im a critic of some of their actions but they deserve to be left alone to get on with their lives

Trut · 10/10/2020 20:53

@Roussette, I am with you. I read some of the mealy mouthed comments and wonder why do people do this? Does it make them feel better about themselves?

This whole thing about privacy. It seems fairly straightforward, people are entitled to privacy in their private lives (eg photos of their child, letters to their father) and share these only with those they would want to. Eg, if Kate share photos oh her children with newspapers that’s fine. No one says she is desperate for publicity? And obviously we respect her choice.

But just because someone wants privacy in parts of their private’s life, it doesn’t mean their whole life has to be private. That’s just silly. If you have a public facing job, you obviously need publicity for that. Doesn’t make anyone a hypocrite.

And I don’t see why they any of us should ask them to give up their titles. Paying for a Monarchy is just that, it has nothing to do with merit or ‘work’. We are paying for them because of whose vagina them came out of. End of. And if you think people should be paid based on ‘what they deserve’ and how much work they do. Well then, you really should be supporting a Republic.

smilesy · 10/10/2020 20:58

It may well take a toll on their mental health, but no one is asking them to keep putting themselves out there to comment on the latest issues, which seems to be what they are determined to do. I am sure many people would be willing to let them get on with their lives but unfortunately they do not seem to want to go away and do this. The alleged trolling she received was not “almost unsurviveable”. This is hyperbole and frankly an insult to people who have been pushed to the ultimate limit by their mental health issues. She is being melodramatic. As are some posters on this thread.

Trut · 10/10/2020 21:20

@Roussette, thanks for sharing the link. I usually don’t read anything about the Rf (or newspapers in general, too much negativity). This comment from H resonated with me

He said: "Hate following has become a thing, you dont need to do that. Just as much as we worry about, be concerned, and take notice of what we put in our bellies as a diet, the same applies for our eyes and our mind, what we're consuming is affecting us.”

So true. When I read some of the comments on this thread I feel a bit sick. And I used to wonder why, because I really do t give a fuck about anyone in the RF. I think it is because of the relentless negativity about another human being, and reading negative stuff does have an impact

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 10/10/2020 21:43

@smilesy. That’s my take as well. I genuinely assumed that they wanted to live a private life, away from the media glare, because it was so awful. Fair enough.
But they seem to be using their Royal status to carve out careers in the public eye- rather like a Rockefeller or a Kennedy trading on name recognition. That’s something else entirely. Hmm.

The trouble is that they position themselves as global justice warriors. It's probably sincere, but neither of them have done anything to warrant that status by merit. It is entirely because of the connection to the royal family. They're putting themselves in a very strange situation. Public interest is necessary for their aims, but there is a problem with negative press, which they find threatening and/or upsetting. I genuinely don't know how they can move forward on this because it seems unsolvable. Yes, I will be critical of zoom lectures with word salads. I'll listen to David Attenborough or Malala Yousefzai or Michelle Obama. They speak from a position of achievement and merit.
