@Oldbutstillgotit

@ SunbathingDragon thanks for explaining that . I have learned something new today ! BUT .... I though camera clicks were triggering ??
Yes, me too, but that only seems to be camera clicks for negative publicity...
JaJaDingDong · 09/10/2020 13:31

I wondered if she was pregnant. But I doubt that she would wait long enough for her to start

You're forgetting they are seeking a quiet life away from the press etc now Grin**

Janegrey333 · 09/10/2020 13:39

@Oldbutstillgotit

Think we all know the answer to that.
FromEden · 09/10/2020 18:17

As soon as I saw the photo I wondered if she was pregnant. But I doubt that she would wait long enough for her to start showing to announce it

Well, going by previous form, if there is an announcement it will be around another royal family occasion or event like a birthday/wedding/charity campaign etc, so maybe there just isn't enough happening right now

But wearing a jacket around the shoulders apparently is a thing now. I saw a woman in real life with a similar look yesterday. How do they get the jacket to stay in place though?!

DM now reporting a Senator is making an officisl complaint about Harry and Meghan's interference in the US election. Oh dear. Grin

I think that demonstrates that their speeches aren’t as well received as they would like and that the American audience is now also turning away from them.

For World Mental Health Day H&M are talking with Teenager Therapy tomorrow.

Viviennemary · 09/10/2020 18:49

It was a Congressman not a Senator. But it's about time somebody stopped them. They should not be trading on their royal name, I agree with every word in the letter. Politics is an absolute no no for Royals. Especially politics in another country.

Myimaginarycathadfleas · 09/10/2020 19:52

I can't see that letter going down well at the Palace. I suspect they will reiterate that H and MM are no longer working royals and were speaking in their personal capacity.

Increasingly I am seeing them styled as Prince Harry and Meghan. Perhaps that's the compromise.

Viviennemary · 09/10/2020 20:00

I think Harry could be more or less forced to stop using any titles. He wouldn't be Prince Harry in the same way as Camilla isn't called Princess of Wales though she technically is. And other like the Wessex children are entitled to be prince and Princess being the grandchildren of the sovereign but they are not known as such. I wonder how seriously the letter will be taken at the palace. A bit of an embarrassment I'd say at the very least. Harry should know that this is just simply not on.

Oldbutstillgotit · 09/10/2020 20:07

Today I saw them described as Prince Harry and Meghan , Duke and Duchess of Sussex .
Why not just Harry and Meghan ? Everyone would know who they are , like George and Amal .

I don’t thing the frothing of one Republican need be taken very seriously. Attention seeking U.K. MPs from all political persuasions are always coming out with ludicrous pronouncements and everyone just ignores them.

HeddaGarbled · 09/10/2020 20:26

Wasn’t it a Republican politician who nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize? It’s just sucking up to the boss.

I thought that about the way they are being styled so did quite a bit of Googling and it seems everything that they are doing where they have a say (charity, Zoom or book wise etc), then they are titled Sussex. If it’s something the media is writing about them, then typically it’s Prince Harry and Meghan. It’s made me think it’s the media who are trying to unofficially do away with the Sussex titles.
Viviennemary · 09/10/2020 20:41

Why not just Harry and Meghan? Because then they would be nobodies. And that won t suit their agenda of self promotion.

Myimaginarycathadfleas · 09/10/2020 21:25

@SunbathingDragon That's interesting. I've noticed the media are starting to use the D&DOS less too, in favour of PH and M. Perhaps it is a media move. Well, it's not a bad one.

OVienna · 09/10/2020 21:35

That twat in Missouri has much better ways to pass his time than penning letters on Harry and Meghan. Yeah, his dear leader is visibly going under: look over here at the Marklez!!! Fat chance, bird brain.

Viviennemary · 09/10/2020 21:40

At least he's been elected. Not like that pair.

Serenster · 09/10/2020 22:10

I've been looking at the Earthshot Prize, and thinking that it really does underscore that Meghan and Harry made a poor choice in deciding to leave the umbrella of the Royal family to set themselves up as philanthropists. William has managed to get together a diverse, starred and experienced Council for award his prize (list below), raise a £50m prize fund to pay for the five annual awards of £1m, secure the BBC as the broadcast partner kicking off with a five part series next year, and form a Global Alliance with Greenpeace, the National Geographic Society, the UN Environment Programme and WWF. And all in just over a year during a global pandemic. It's very impressive (Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have tweeted their support), and sounds like exactly the kind of strategic plan that the Sussexes aspired to when they left in January. Shorn of the Royal family link, however, they are signing deals with Netflix for fly on the wall documentaries about themselves, and wishing contestants on America's Got Talent good luck. Not quite in the same league!

Prize Council
Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah (Jordan);
Cate Blanchett – actor, producer and humanitarian (Australia);
Christiana Figueres – Former UN climate chief, responsible for the landmark Paris Agreement on Climate Change (Costa Rica);
Dani Alves – professional footballer (Brazil);
Sir David Attenborough – broadcaster and natural historian (UK);
Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim – environmental activist (Chad);
Indra Nooyi – business executive and former Chairman & CEO of PepsiCo (US & India);
Jack Ma – philanthropist, entrepreneur and UNSDG Advocate (China);
Naoko Yamazaki – former astronaut onboard the International Space Station (Japan);
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala – economist and international development expert (Nigeria);
Shakira – singer and philanthropist (Colombia);
Yao Ming – Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and environmentalist (China).

My feeling ( as a Brit living in the US) is that It’s more acceptable for Meghan, as an American, to comment on the upcoming election. It’s her country of birth, she has a right to vote and if she wants to sit on a bench and share her opinions on the election, I think most Americans would accept that.

But PH has only lived here since March and he’s not known for his expertise on American politics.

It’s all a storm in a teacup, but I think PH needs to learn to be more humble as he’s essentially a guest in the US, Most Americans couldn’t care less about his Royal “credentials..”

If Harry has US citizenship then he should be free to comment, I presume Meghan still had hers?

But if Meghan & Harry said 'Trump is a top bloke' I bet they would not try and stop it.

Meghan should be publicly free to say what she wants but has she gained instant political knowledge just by marrying Harry? Is she only being listened too because she knows what she is talking about or just because she is a celebrity?

I do not think she should be free to speak because she hates Trumped but if she loved him silenced? She should be able te speak regardless of her opinion

GingerScallop · 10/10/2020 03:48

The stupid US congressman is miffed because of their obvious anti-Trump stand not because of his concern for breach of protocol. Given where America is today it will make them heroes, protest warriors.
Am also happy for them for winning an apology on drone pics. Dreadful to pap a baby in his home no less! I just wonder what it actually means though. They get back part of legal costs but surely other news curators can do the same? Pap them, make money then refund them a bit. It's a tough situation for them and surely they wouldn't have to deal with that in the UK? They would have to deal with DM though. I feel for them and their mental health sometimes.
Overall given the difference to rich celebrities in the Western world and spreading, I think they will do well. They are good (as with many very visible celebrities) at jumping on the latest band wagon, and are friending the right celebrities. I bet they will do an African tour as soon as the world opens up. Nothing says I care more than visiting Africa, one pic with an animal two pics with dancing women. And a sentence in the press release on how it transformed your life!
