Correction:
He did two charity treks to the poles and one had a well received documentary on it.

Andylion · 27/09/2020 18:14

In all videos I have seen of him with non famous people, he interacts with all sorts people really well. He has Diana's ability to put people at ease, connect with them and her easy charm.

Although I am one of those who does question what he has to offer Netflix in terms of skills, and I am critical of his election video, I thought he came across very well at the closing ceremony for the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017. He seemed to be a natural when addressing the audience.

Chatnotnet you've annoyed the self appointed MN thread police who can’t stand anyone having a different yet perfectly reasonable (and not racist) ideas that from what I can tell seem to be shared by the majority of people in this country. I don’t know why MN are letting these threads be dictated by these people (not just this, there are other contentious subjects that were not really allowed to talk freely about). And it also makes these threads about as engaging as debating with a short plank of wood 🙄

Sorry I made a few typos there! Hope it still makes sense.

Maireas · 27/09/2020 18:20

All those things quoted above about Harry are true. What went wrong?

stairway · 27/09/2020 18:21

Are they actually paying for their security though? I can’t believe we are not somehow still paying for some of it as the bill must be enormous. They can do what they like as long as they pay their own way, and don't either embarrass the royal family or this country. However anyone can have an opinion on what they do or say regardless of these conditions as they choose to make their public.

QueenofAsgard · 27/09/2020 18:21

He has had a non royal job: he lived and worked in non luxury in the army

He was an officer. The way officers live and are treated by Other Ranks, is usually with respect and deference. Have you ever been in an Officers Mess? Very different to how the other ranks live. Service and customs more in line with that of some kind of upper class club. He did active service when yes, he would have been roughing it a bit but I don't believe he was ever at an outpost was he, where there would be no segregation between the ranks and he could expect an "authentic" day to day experience. He was an officer wherever he went and would have been treated and would have lived as such. Plus the fact that he was "Prince Harry" would have always have impacted on how he was treated even when he and everyone were pretending he was The Same As Everyone Else.

I don’t know why MN are letting these threads be dictated by these people

What people? Confused And how are those people 'dictating'?

As always there are those who seem to think some posters can delete posts, threads, and ban posters.

I've just had a look... last time I reported a post was 6 weeks ago, so if a post gets deleted it doesn't have to be reported, it can be a MNHQ decision. Quite rightly

SwordfishShashlik · 27/09/2020 18:49

Who did you report Rouseete and what did the post say?????

You sound very defensive about you being the reason posts are deleted. Surely anyone who is signed up to the forum could be responsible or it could have automatically flagged up. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Roussette · 27/09/2020 19:04

Eh?
Six weeks ago? No idea but there would've been a good reason
Why are you asking?

I normally prefer a post to stand by a poster's name. Especially insulting ones

Roussette · 27/09/2020 19:05

Sunbathing
Not defensive at all but you take what you want from it

Thanks @Ninjava yes threads get very boring and dull if posters can't engage in healthy debate. I stand by what I said, there was nothing of any offence. I've been reading and er enjoying mumsnet for nearly 10 yrs, left my account to close when hacking was going on yrs ago and only now re joined again - shouldn't have bothered!!!!!!! Yes @Ninjava there are other forums available too.... 🤣🤣🤣 best not bother with mumsnet. I prefer to chat with my mum friends
TheNavigator · 27/09/2020 19:56

If a post is deleted then it must have breached the Mumsnet guidelines. Mumsnet HQ make that decision so it is a bit silly to blame other posters if you can't stay within the guidelines.

Roussette · 27/09/2020 20:20

I wish that was realised. I and other non anti's must have super powers! We seem to be able to delete posts and threads and ban posters!
No

HarryDaylight · 27/09/2020 20:54

Non anti's? What's that?

Roussette · 27/09/2020 21:01

Posters who aren't straight up anti M&H whatever. Non Anti

HarryDaylight · 27/09/2020 21:08

OK. Is that a term that you've made up?

LaMarschallin · 27/09/2020 21:11

At least it's not spell check mangling "non-entities".

SwordfishShashlik · 27/09/2020 21:14

Are “non antis” like non-wireless headphones then?

Roussette · 27/09/2020 21:19

Yes. It's a term I've made up. To avoid the 'haters' word. Tell me what you'd prefer and I'll use it.
I'm actually trying to be polite but of course you won;t see it like that.

Pro... Anti... that type of thing.

Personally I would prefer that there was no derogatory name calling and that all posters were treated with respect, no matter what their opinion, but I bow down to your superior knowledge.
Roussette · 27/09/2020 21:36

That is why I've avoided calling anyone 'haters'.

I have no superior knowledge.Have you?! I am not calling anyone derogatory names.

Unlike other places.

Don't you understand? You don't need to label or call anyone names. You may not regard your made up name as derogatory, but the person that you have labelled may be deeply offended.

I don't know what you mean by "other places". Are you talking about other forums? I thought that was breaching MN rules?

Ninjava · 27/09/2020 21:51

Just using ‘antis’ as a direct synonym for haters - why should anyone see that as being any better? It’s still name calling, as HarryD says.
