Harry and Meghan News thread

I thought we could have a thread for latest news. MN did say they didn't mind one or two threads. And no rules except stick to MN guidelines. It's Meghans birthday today I just read. And the Queen has wished her a very happy birthday on the royal Instagram page according to that popular Oracle the DM.

If I’d continued to be a fervent H&M supporter you until the release of Finding Freedom, I would be feeling very embarrassed and let down by them right now.

KatherineParr4 · 16/08/2020 20:14

@clearedfortakeoff

It actually reads like a parody.
I am reading it now. That’s exactly what I thought! I was seriously wondering if it is an elaborate joke!
Andylion · 16/08/2020 20:20

Who tucks a 6 foot fir tree under their arm?

This book looks like it was written either by, or for, teenagers.

KatherineParr4 · 16/08/2020 20:22

Yes it reads like a teenage diary. By a thirteen year old girl who hasn’t been out much.

Well posts are still being deleted so I suspect they're lurking...

This book for me just confirms the diary rumours.

Just to let you know... not the slightest bit embarrassed nor let down. Pass it on.

Not prepared to have a pile on from you all for that comment so won't be responding , but wanted to make that clear. They didn't write the book and we don't know how much of it came about. And there are many who are not attaching the huge importance to it that you all are.

Anyway... enjoy your thread. Smile
As you were....

It you aren’t me and I did say that if I had still been. My support of them begin to slide just over half way in.
yolio · 16/08/2020 21:22

We have not heard about our RF for months now, but I suppose we are still supporting them god love them.

We have lived without their mugs in our faces for nearly six months and the only losers are the tabloids.

Useless people in the long rung, what do they add to your life.

Nishky · 16/08/2020 21:26

@Roussette do you think they should speak out against the awful attacks on the Duchess of Cambridge in the book?

Just interested what supporters of the couple would say about that issue?

WindsorBlues · 16/08/2020 21:33

The whole book is a major invasion of privacy. It even goes as far as describing their private thoughts and exact words during occasions when it was only the two of them in the room.

It invades members of the RFs privacy aswell including a description of how Kate decorated her private home, a possible security breach of where the Queen keeps her jewels, they even tell us the exact time the Queen takes her bath on the train.

If H&M don't sue the makers of FF, like they have everyone else who has breached their privacy, it would confirm it in my eyes that they are behind it.

MangoFeverDream · 16/08/2020 21:41

As for smoking, so what if Kate smokes?

No one should, but you had pearl clutchers here aghast at the very suggestion 🙄

MangoFeverDream · 16/08/2020 21:42

Should read no one should care

Precisely.

StartupRepair · 16/08/2020 22:24

Agree that the whole tone is for an audience of teenage girls. Next instalment - beautiful Meghan takes on Hollywood/politics with her dashing prince by her side.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/08/2020 22:29

The whole book is a major invasion of privacy. It even goes as far as describing their private thoughts and exact words during occasions when it was only the two of them in the room

That's why logic suggests only three possibilities:

  1. The whole thing's made up
  2. Details were gleaned from someone else H&M told
  3. Info was given by H or M themselves

Personally I was going with 1. and trying to avoid 3. right up to Justice Warby's remarks about Scobie getting the case info ... which, let's say, changed things rather a lot

BottomOfMyPencilCase · 16/08/2020 22:40

I was listening to a podcast today from US fashion journalists/bloggers. In the past, they have been very supportive of M, and completely agreed with the 'nasty racist UK' narrative. However, they were very scathing of the book. They thought it made H&M sound whiny and they called out how critical of Kate it was. They also pointed out what a hard time the tabloids gave Kate and Camilla when they joined the RF too. They found it hilarious that H&M were saying they were moving to escape press intrusion but picked LA as their first base. They blamed H for a lot of what went wrong and I couldn't decide if that was their honest view, or if it was based on all the H negativity in the book or if it's because it's more acceptable to blame H because any criticism of a poc woman can be weaponised.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 16/08/2020 22:40

Anyone who doesn’t believe MM had a hand in this book - I have a bridge to sell you!

If only MM and The Queen were present, I highly doubt the Queen was the one running to Scooby Doo. But, then, the same people would have us believe MM is much more important than the Queen!

What I find odd is the Harry and Meghan supporters line of defence about FF mainly is "Meghan and Harry had nothing to do with it" instead of defending them against the authors about the blatant breach of privacy.

Especially odd since there were posts on previous threads with supporters being outraged at leaks, stories and breaches of privacy from "Palace insiders" about their behaviour which have all now been confirmed by the book.

Andylion · 16/08/2020 23:13

Many reviews do seem to think they had a hand in it. It is not just posters on this thread.

Viviennemary · 16/08/2020 23:24

Surely the book must be either a shocking breach of privacy or a pack of lies. I wonder which it is.
