I thought we could have a thread for latest news. MN did say they didn't mind one or two threads. And no rules except stick to MN guidelines. It's Meghans birthday today I just read. And the Queen has wished her a very happy birthday on the royal Instagram page according to that popular Oracle the DM.

'The Glow' post was funny. Also, does anyone remember a poster saying Kate had nice legs, followed by a furious post containing several photos of Meghan's legs in stiletto heels, oily shiny legs and posed photos, compared with Kate in trainers just doing her thing and not posing? Ah, crazy misogynistic days, I'm slightly sad the defenders have gone, some of it was very funny. (Not the mean stuff about Kate though, there was no need for that, same as in the book.)

Oldbutstillgotit · 17/08/2020 06:53

I am ploughing my way through FF and have yet to find a positive comment about Catherine. Bit different from the gushing engagement interview .

EthelMayFergus · 17/08/2020 07:09

I upset someone on here by saying I thought Meghan was jealous of Catherine, yet I think the book makes it fairly obvious. Thanks for the above link, it's odd that Meghan didn't think that her feminist credentials would be at odds with buying Mr Grishin's house. I just don't see the self proclaimed 'whip smart' in her behaviour.

I don't think MM is jealous exactly, but she is deeply competitive. I think what looks like jealousy is in fact her frustration at not being able to improve her position and be more popular and influential than Catherine.

I think H is very jealous of W.

Samcro · 17/08/2020 08:05

It’s odd all the many MM supporters that were always on these threads aren’t here defending book, especially since some were very vigilant about the ridiculous rumours that had been in the papers are blind sites which are now repeated in the book.

just needed to say something about this.
the real reason you won't see "supporters" on here is because they most likely (like me) be fed up with having their posts screen shot and posted else. where also some (like me) will be fed up with the re writing of history and being blamed for deletions and bans.
the way posters who don't want to pull M apart have been targeted and had their posts ripped apart has been awful. Its happening to Roussette right now.
its bad enough when it happens on here. but when it happens somewhere where you have no way to defend your self it becomes a bit "stalkerish" and very unpleasant.

WinnieTheW0rm · 17/08/2020 08:07

I think it's because you can be simultaneously supportive of them as individuals, who you hope will find happiness in their chosen way; and utterly dismayed at how counterproductive this book is to what were their original aims.

Serenster · 17/08/2020 08:28

@WindsorBlues

What I find odd is the Harry and Meghan supporters line of defence about FF mainly is "Meghan and Harry had nothing to do with it" instead of defending them against the authors about the blatant breach of privacy.

Especially odd since there were posts on previous threads with supporters being outraged at leaks, stories and breaches of privacy from "Palace insiders" about their behaviour which have all now been confirmed by the book.

Agreed, Windsor Blue, I find the cognitive dissonance telling. When the stories now being set out in FF were first reported on in the press and gossip sites, they were angrily denounced as vile smears deliberately being put out by courtiers/William and Kate/racist royal reporters to tear Meghan and Harry down. Now the same stories are being set out in a biography co-authored by their pet journalist and with the imprimatur of the couple, what are we left with? There were no “smears”, just different perspectives on the same facts? Everyone is breaching privacy hand over fist so there’s no longer any reason to criticise palace sources for it? There’s a telling silence on that, along with a telling silence on any views that the authors have joined the ranks to the vipers smearing the couple in the eyes of the world by repeating these untrue and unfair stories.
LaundryBasketOfHell · 17/08/2020 08:45

I don’t quite understand your post Samcro? Where is this somewhere else that you speak of?

BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 17/08/2020 08:49

How can people still be saying that they didn't have anything to do with the book. Unless the book is made up how did the authors know the fine details of what M ate a certain day, what time the Queen has her bath, how they were feeling etc.

OVienna · 17/08/2020 08:53

Oh dear, it appears Scobie has even been giving interviews on this topic to none other than....Loose Women. Remember that vile programme that was supposedly a mouthpiece of the evil Mail?

WindsorBlues · 17/08/2020 09:41

I'm confused as well - this hasn't happened in any threads I have been on with rosette?
LaundryBasketOfHell · 17/08/2020 09:46

Surely everyone has the right to defend themselves on here. I don’t understand at all.

mrscampbellblackagain · 17/08/2020 09:49

So will Scobie be called to give evidence in the MM v AN case? The judge has already referenced him and surely if co operation can be proved this book shows they don't want privacy at all, I mean even MM's toilet habits are discussed!

I would just add that you can also be supportive of them as individuals and wish them well while actively disliking some aspects of their behaviour.

Sometimes on the H&M threads it appears that some people can't accept that any critical posts don't arise from hate.

jessstan2 · 17/08/2020 09:53

I'm quite enjoying the book. Some of it I already knew but things about both of them are fleshed out in the book and of course there is new stuff. I did have the wrong idea about it though, I thought the couple themselves had written it (with a ghost writer), and that isn't the case. However at least it isn't nasty, there's nothing far fetched about it and the writers do appear to have a lot of decent information unlike similar books. People looking for controversy will be disappointed (though no doubt some will rake around and find some, using hyperbole).

Scobie is an interesting character - and looks about 15!

Where are your posts being screenshotted? You are being very coy.
KatherineParr4 · 17/08/2020 09:58

@Roussette

If I’d continued to be a fervent H&M supporter you until the release of Finding Freedom, I would be feeling very embarrassed and let down by them right now

Just to let you know... not the slightest bit embarrassed nor let down. Pass it on.

Not prepared to have a pile on from you all for that comment so won't be responding , but wanted to make that clear. They didn't write the book and we don't know how much of it came about. And there are many who are not attaching the huge importance to it that you all are.

Anyway... enjoy your thread. Smile
As you were....

Have you read the book Rousette? You really have to read it to make any sort of judgement. I have. It’s hard work to get to the end without feeling very nauseous.
KatherineParr4 · 17/08/2020 09:59

@StartupRepair

Agree that the whole tone is for an audience of teenage girls. Next instalment - beautiful Meghan takes on Hollywood/politics with her dashing prince by her side.

Samcro The deletions, bans, suspensions and accusations of racism for any poster that didn't think Meghan was wonderful were bizarre. I've never seen such sensitivity on other threads. It's hardly surprising that posters wanted to discuss the injustice and were left with no option but to do that somewhere else.

Personally, I was uncomfortable with a man (Michael) deciding what he would allow women to chat about on a chat forum, and him accusing a woc of being racist and sexist deserved a thread of it's own.

BottomOfMyPencilCase · 17/08/2020 10:29

The lack of honest engagement from certain quarters is disappointing. I would respect them much more if they said 'the book is appalling. It breaches everyone's privacy and I hope H&M sue the authors and if H&M are proven to have been involved then I'm disappointed.'
It's not difficult to say or type. It doesn't mean they are 'bad' people. It doesn't mean
M didn't struggle to adjust or H didn't do enough to help her. They're not the first royals or celebs to get involved with a misguided book. Their supporters would lose nothing from criticising it and would gain some credibility.

wizzbangfizz · 17/08/2020 10:56

Harry really doesn't come out of this looking good at all Shockwhilst she comes out calm and elegance personified.

Thisfucker · 17/08/2020 11:12

Ah yes, breaches of privacy. Security too, how about the reference to the exact time Her Majesty the Queen has her bath when she's using the Royal Train.
Where on earth could that information have come from? How could it be verified by two separate sources? Anyone who thinks that Harry and Meghan didn't cooperate with Scobie is not the brightest.
I just hope that terrorists don't take advantage of this little gem. Could be a major incident.
