I thought we could have a thread for latest news. MN did say they didn't mind one or two threads. And no rules except stick to MN guidelines. It's Meghans birthday today I just read. And the Queen has wished her a very happy birthday on the royal Instagram page according to that popular Oracle the DM.

@ BillieEilish I agree I know we aren’t supposed to speculate but MM does look different . When she first appeared on the scene I thought she was absolutely stunning however something has changed .

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 15/08/2020 16:13

I agree she looks very different and not in a good way , I think it’s the hair, it looks like a wig. her hair was lovely while she was in the royal family there is just too much of it now, it overwhelms her.

Shabooma · 15/08/2020 16:14

@WinnieTheW0rm

Keeping quiet and cutting ribbons is exactly what I meant by the duller worthy duties.

Things they do often go unreported, but they are still valuable. For example the Countess's trip to South Sudan barely had a mention in the mainstream media

royalcentral.co.uk/uk/wessex/the-countess-of-wessex-marks-international-womens-day-on-her-historic-visit-to-south-sudan-138825/

"The Countess of Wessex is the first member of the Royal Family to visit South Sudan which was recognised as a sovereign state in 2011. Her trip focused on issues related to the rights of girls and women and co-incided with International Women’s Week. On International Women’s Day in 2019, the countess detailed her commitment to the UK’s efforts in the Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative and during her time in South Sudan she has met survivors as well as those offering them support.

"During her time in the country, Sophie has also met female politicians and discussed ways to bring more women into politics as well as ensure greater female participation at the ballot box. She has also met men working to bring greater gender equality into their local communities as well as meeting military personnel who are involved in outreach programmes supporting security for all"

I think it was the Times that did a lengthy article on the Sudan trip, worth having a look if you subscribe.

That’s because it is, indeed, a hair piece.

@Viviennemary

So does the book say which tiara she wanted.
It's explains how she didn't demand a tiara as the article in the sun said but then it goes on to say how the Vladimir would have been perfect.

This is the next page, the highlighted section is deserving of an eye roll. We're treated every few pages to paragraphs like this showing Meghans awesomeness in every situation.

Thanks Windsorblues. My bet is that she did want the Vladimir as it's very grand and showy. I probably would go for that too given The choice. Grin The aquamarine one hardly gets an outing. That's very big and showy too. Not sure if I believe the Russia story. Its probably partly true I suppose.

Oh wow - I couldn’t read that whole book just those two ones were enough to make me nauseous. They are basically painting MM as some kind of saintly figure and then had a sneaky sneer at the QUEEN for knowing how to put a tiara. The mind boggles. This is so Meghan biography using her diary it’s clear as day.

Midlistauthor · 15/08/2020 17:00

@KatherineParr4

Its easy to read on Kindle and then return for a refund within two weeks. I am absolutely convinced she gave her diary to Scooby.
Namechanged for this post. Please don't do this, especially as we are speaking of "integrity" here. It's virtually stealing. Like going to a dress shop, buying a dress, wearing it once, and then returning it.

Remember that authors get only a small percentage of the cover price of every copy sold. Granted, this particular book is already a best-seller and one or two "steals" won't hurt the authors.

But if you do it to other, less successful, authors, you are literally taking money out of their pockets. You have bought the book, used it, and demanded your money back. AND spreading the word so others can do the same. What if it becomes a habit for Kindle readers?
If you want us to keep on writing, you need to let us keep the money even if you didn't like the book. Just like you won't get money back if you didn't like a movie. Please be honest!

There's always the "sample" you can download to get an idea of the writing. Or even if you do buy a book and with the first few pages. discover you don't like it, that's the time to give it back.

Not to buy it with the intention of returning it, used. That really is dishonest.

evolution as a feminist advocating for women across the globe

What the hell?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/08/2020 17:16

It's such an opportunity squandered

To the rest of us perhaps, but the concept's based on valuing the opportunity they were handed and committing to its success in the first place

If either or both never intended to give things a chance, you could argue that a home in the sun somewhere else with others picking up some of the bills is the best "opportunity" of all

halfbakedkate · 15/08/2020 17:17

@KatherineParr4
I also snorted at that bit. I haven't read the book, that snippet enough has put me off. What a load of twaddle.

Marlboroughdreams · 15/08/2020 17:19

Fairly sure Princess Diana never wore the Grand Duchess Vladimir tiara.

MangoFeverDream · 15/08/2020 17:33

It’s definitely the hair, it’s just too much. She looked much better (and more relaxed) with the messy updos.

WindsorBlues · 15/08/2020 17:33

My last snippet to remind you all of Meghans power before heading off for my Saturday night pizza 🍕

Literally speechless! Please, more snippets!

Packingsoapandwater · 15/08/2020 17:40

I think I'm going to have to read it. From the excerpts I've already read, it seems like a very peculiar book.

Catsup · 15/08/2020 18:04

'what was different was that Harry tagged along' 🙄 yes, yes because due to MM's previous role in 'Suits', she was always invited to select her choice of crown jewels without PH (tagging along) 😳

Catsup · 15/08/2020 18:16

It's basically a book about how Megan did this, and Megan did that.... and then there was Harry skulking in her shadow like some creepy hanger-oner whilst she talks to the people she's only met via him being a royal 😳

I really don’t like her hair now. It drowns her.

Thank you to those who have shared the actual pages. The newspaper coverage hasn't done justice to how nauseatingly cringeworthy it is!
