@SenecaFallsRedux

I suppose we can hope that the press and society at large will have evolved in their treatment of women in 20 years' time. I am, however, not optimistic.
If only it could change now, imagine a world where women were not blamed and ripped apart, it would be a better place.
callmeadoctor · 14/06/2020 10:20

Going back to the garden party. They were invited (Harry gave a speech). I think I read somewhere that william was supposed to do it but change of plans. It looked to me like M and H possibly had another engagement after, and Charles was saying something like don't worry about us here, you go on to your other engagement. I certainly don't believe that there was any issue at all.

It's very possible there was no issue at all. But it's all meant to be being revealed in Lady Colin Campbels book. We all await with baited breath. Grin

Ironically the pandemic may have done Charles a favour as he will start to do more of the monarch's roles and people will become more used to the idea

That's interesting, considering he's been almost invisible so far; I believe there was one video and the "virtual opening" of the Nightingale Hospital, but the rest seems to have been picked up by W&K

FruitPastillesaregood · 14/06/2020 10:30

It does seem that W and K are increasingly acting for the Queen, not PC. In which case, William should be King, not Charles. It will be William acting for Charles all the time in any case, as Charles is already elderly.

He has had covid and if true that it was mild, it’s still quite feasible he has low energy levels. If it was worse than was announced, then a longer recovery is to be expected.

None of the royals seems to have done much that has been publicly picked up during the pandemic. I’m not sure if that’s because what they have done has been behind the scenes (I’ve seen reports of Sophie and Kate doing things that way) or that the media just hasn’t deemed it worthy of reporting considering all the articles on coronavirus, economy knock on, schools, the government etc.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/06/2020 10:40

FruitPastilles if we have to have a monarchy at all - and personally I'd rather we didn't - I'd also prefer that scenario. However I realise it doesn't work like that, even though several past monarchs haven't been "the one intended"

I'd have thought Charles's deranged support for his paedophile bishop pal should be enough in itself to move him aside, but somehow I can't see him wanting to miss out on what he's waited so long for

Viviennemary · 14/06/2020 10:47

Apparently M and H are delaying the launch of Archewell till spring 2021. I wonder if that means they won't be returning to royal duties after their year out.

If true, then I imagine it means either their year away has been extended due to covid or else you’re right and they aren’t returning.

I haven’t been following for a few days but this thread has some wierd, sexist, nasty posts.

So upskirted women enjoy it?! It’s OK to post upskirted photos?! What?

And taking the piss out of a woman with a disorder of sexual development which caused her pain and family rejection?
Or of how briefly her marriage lasted? (reportedly the husband had substance abuse issues). graziadaily.co.uk/celebrity/news/im-celebritys-lady-colin-campbell-intersex-intersex/

Samcro · 14/06/2020 11:28

i must have missed weird sexist post.

SunbathingDragon · 14/06/2020 11:45

@Samcro

i must have missed weird sexist post.
I think it’s been deleted but there are several quotes of it, which seems to defeat the point of deleting it really. It’s what EmpressMatilda posted.
FruitPastillesaregood · 14/06/2020 12:57

I don’t think there was any suggestion that M and H would return to royal duties. They’ve left. They aren’t working members any longer.

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 14/06/2020 13:02

DateLoaf, I thought it was established that if you post anything negative about Harry and Meghan (like how the exit was handled, funding questions or a certain hypocrisy in telling people to have fewer children and do their bit for the environment whilst taking multiple private jets in a week), you are a bully and subconsciously racist. Actually, just by posting on this thread, you are probably subconsciously racist as these threads have been going on for a while.

If it is anyone else (like Kate), many posters who scream murder about negative posts in Meghan will ignore that picture of her bottom is posted on this page (probably one of the most embarrassing picture moments in her life). Possibly we can discuss the legal implications.

Lady Colin is I believe free game. She is writing a (probably) horrid book about Harry and Meghan.

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 14/06/2020 13:04

@Puzzledandpissedoff, do you have any sources for Prince Charles support for the paedophile bishop? I have missed this. I believe there is a special place in hell for anyone who assaults children or supports and/or cover for paedophiles.

Viviennemary · 14/06/2020 13:17

As far as I understood it they were having a year to do their own thing and then the whole situation would be reviewed. Lesving the door open for a return.

Roussette · 14/06/2020 13:19

MoreHippoThanPenguin

Weird. I've never called anyone a racist. But have been on these threads, putting across my viewpoint which is what a forum is about.

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 14/06/2020 13:26

Roussette, I did not mean to say that you had used a blanket statement about racism. I know you haven’t. Unfortunately, others have.

I agree completely that all points of view needs to be put across (unless a post is racist or misogynistic in which case it needs to be reported and deleted).

Roussette · 14/06/2020 13:36

And I agree with that Smile

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 14/06/2020 13:38

I just wanted to post about the coat flicking by Meghan (I think this was a massive discussion a while back). Was this deliberate or not? I always scrolled by those posts as I thought they were uninteresting.

However for some weird reason, I saw some videos and pictures of this a few days ago.

I think it was totally deliberate. A deliberate action of a woman, heavily pregnant in a new country. Probably conscious of her big bump, hot, uncomfortable and with aching feet. Who knows that every awful paparazzi in the country will try to get an unflattering picture and who tries her best to look good in the picture. As she was probably told to do by the Royal Family. And then the papers made fun of her.

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 14/06/2020 13:39

Cross post Roussette Smile

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/06/2020 13:47

@MoreHippoThanPenguin here you go with info on the official criticism: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/05/09/prince-charles-criticised-official-sex-abuse-inquiry-misguided/

More extensive details of what Charles is on record as saying, and the housing he provided for Peter Ball after his conviction are here: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/07/27/prince-wales-told-paedophile-bishop-actions-against-monstrous/ details

And it's hardly surprising that you weren't aware of this, since it's hardly the kind of thing the RF will publicise; I'm only surprised they've not had all such references removed

FruitPastillesaregood · 14/06/2020 14:10

I think their financial dependence was going to be reviewed, but I never thought there was any question of them coming back. They’ve burnt their boats. Why would they be looking to buy a house in Malibu if they had any intention of returning?

FruitPastillesaregood · 14/06/2020 14:12

Isn’t there a history of cover ups amongst the Royal staff as well though? I can’t remember the details but one of the staff accused another of male rape I think, amongst other things.

Viviennemary · 14/06/2020 14:18

I must say I thought it meant they would have a year away to see how things went and if it didn't work they would come back and carry on as before. They could still have a house in Malibu. After all Andrew has had that chalet in is it Switzerland for a few years. Though it's now up for sale.
