I wonder if MM misses her old life in Toronto where she was just famous enough to feel important but still enjoyed peace and privacy.

Oh, please, of course she doesn't. No one forced her to go out with Harry. She machinated the entire meeting.

MadameXX · 21/05/2020 00:35

Haven’t rtft

Nikhedonia · 21/05/2020 00:52

Have they got an IG page now?

Where are these videos being released?

StartupRepair · 21/05/2020 01:12

I think Meghan was advised to let bad press wash over her and just play the long game. This is her reference to 'stiff upper lip'. In her mind she couldn't understand how there were cheering crowds but also negative press and the Queen couldn't make it stop.

Teddy1970 · 21/05/2020 01:25

I think they've gone from the frying pan into the fire, the LA paparazzi are ruthless (as we've seen).

BalloonSlayer · 21/05/2020 07:08

I have posted this on Royal threads before , I read somewhere that the Queen and PP understand all the crowds and adulation are for the Crown, not the individual. It doesn't matter who is King/Queen, the adoration remains the same. (Charles is criticised now but he won't be anything like as much when he is King, mark my words.)

The problem is (say HMQ & PP) that newcomers - like Diana and Fedgie, and now Meghan - assume it is personal, that the crowds are cheering for them personally because they love them. That's why they take it so badly when there is from time to time a negative backlash.

Once a member of the RF can detach and think "they are not cheering because they love me. They would cheer any eejit in a tiara," they can see it for what it is, detach, get on with the job, and enjoy their private life behind the facade of the Crown.

Oldbutstillgotit · 21/05/2020 07:52

@ BalloonSlayer that’s a very interesting post and , up to a point, I agree with you however a lot of the criticism towards Fergie was about her weight / clothes/ love of holidays . I remember Diana being referred to as a “ clothes horse”. Neither of them had 100% support from their DH ; POW because he was in love with someone else and PA because he spent most of his life on the golf course .
M on the other hand has 100% support from H but seems to be incredibly thin skinned and unwilling/ unable to put up with any criticism. When it happens she moves on and dumps the people who no longer adore her.

NewNNsoShootMe · 21/05/2020 08:25

MM’s biggest gripe seems to be about Kate having preferential treatment but the fact is, she simply wasn’t around when Kate was getting her own baptism of fire.

Kate “earned her stripes” so to speak and Meghan doesn’t seem to really understand the concept. I don’t entirely blame her though. Having spent a number of years in California, the “good job!” culture regardless of whether you actually did to a good job is one you either embrace or you’re viewed as a miserable git.

WindsorBlues · 21/05/2020 08:46

I don't think M will come back after the year review her pattern of behaviour is to move on and don't look back.

However, previously she has always had upward momentum when moving on and with the Corona Virus, their snooty attitude towards to Queen during megxt and the current preception of them on both sides of the Atlantic I think she's finally hit the glass ceiling and has no where else to go, I think she's peaked a being 'Harry's Wife'

MadameXX · 21/05/2020 09:06

Being “Harry’s wife” is a bloody good peak.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 21/05/2020 09:08

I suspect there will be a spike of interest when the book comes out, followed by a slew of articles in the media. They are probably working on how to ride that wave and "launch" themselves. Not an unwise move if you think about it,

I agree with much of your post Coffee except the bit about worrying about how they will sustain their lifestyle financially. H has no idea what it is to worry about money, and MM knows they can count on PC, especially now they have Archie.

Teddy1970 · 21/05/2020 09:15

For any normal person it is MadameX, but Meghan wants to be an adored international superstar and being Harry's wife isn't giving her that right now, if it ever will.

Nanalisa60 · 21/05/2020 09:19

Poor Harry I’m going to get out my teeny tiny violin out!! because that’s boys been play like a fiddle!! By a very good player 😂😂😂

ButteryPuffin · 21/05/2020 09:48

I'm surprised by how naive Meghan has been about the workings of the media as a global industry. It's like the mythical Hydra - cut one head (story / newspaper) off and other grows somewhere else. Court action against one newspaper or non cooperation with several newspapers was never going to work. Even in the days of the abdication, while the British press kept quiet papers elsewhere were printing the lot, and rumours eventually leaked out. Today that happens in an instant.

timeisoftheessence · 21/05/2020 09:48

Does anyone else ever wonder if Haitch/Meghan/Kate or whoever actually read this thread themselves? Or perhaps even post on it?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 21/05/2020 09:59

I very much doubt it, timeisoftheessence. They may have "people" who scan social media for them and MN might feature in that, but I would be surprised if they bothered with it.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 21/05/2020 10:01

And I must say, although I would love them to absorb some of the very sensible perspectives that are voiced here, sometimes the comments go a bit far and I wouldn't like to think of them reading stuff that was hurtful.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/05/2020 11:16

Wise words there, BalloonSlayer; the only bit I'm not sure about is the criticism easing when Charles becomes King
Certainly there'll be an initial flurry of "see - isn't he wonderful?", but when the meddling continues, Camilla fails to step up on more tours and the insensate self-indulgence comes into sharper focus it could be a different story

7Worfs · 21/05/2020 11:20

CAC will be late 70s/early 80s probably when PC ascends, I really don’t expect them to step up yours then Grin

WAK will do all the travelling I expect.

7Worfs · 21/05/2020 11:21

Step up tours, what a silly typo! Shock

callmeadoctor · 21/05/2020 11:21

Im so disappointed by the pair of them, it was a new updated royal family and really could have worked. Undoubtably they could have led a quiet life in the first couple of years, exactly like William and Kate did. I can understand that Meghan would have felt homesick, but they had the money for her to fly back and to plus have her mother stay in Uk whenever she liked.
They could have had it all......... so sad really.............

Apparently Harry reads everything about himself, and presumably about Megz 'n Arch too. Someone has too much time on his hands...

MadameXX · 21/05/2020 12:20

And there lies the road to Hell ...

StartupRepair · 21/05/2020 12:21

On their Australia tour they breezily told a group of young people that they didn't engage with social media and didn't miss it. Shortly afterwards they launched their Instagram account with great fanfare.
It is clear from their DM court case that they analyse every word they see about themselves. It can't be good for their mental health.

EthelMayFergus · 21/05/2020 12:21

W&K will do all the travelling I expect I think I read on one of the threads here that Camilla has a fear of flying?

H & M could have led a quiet life for the first couple of years, if the actual heir could manage a private life when newly married there's no way it would've been more difficult for Harry. I've been down various rabbit holes since taking an interest in the royal family roughly two months ago and I've been really surprised by some of the photos of Harry that haven't made it to the press. I don't want to say too much but some of it would be unbecoming of an 18 yr old newly famous reality star, let alone royalty. He was so protected by the RF PR people (and the press?).
