Gayle King is Oprah’s very long-time best friend.

ButteryPuffin · 21/05/2020 20:52

'Rumours are swirling...' yes, anchored by those pap photos from up in the hills that show them actually living there!

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 21/05/2020 21:25

So, they dont even know this Tyler Perry bloke then? How extraordinarily genorous of him, what on earth could he be expecting in return?

Justmuddlingalong · 21/05/2020 21:36

Maybe he's a sucker for a doe eyed smile. It seems to have worked for M so far.

bullyingadvice2017 · 21/05/2020 21:44

I think covid19 has ruined their plans

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 21/05/2020 21:47

Tbh I should be on bended knee thanking the pair of them for giving me something other than covid to think about.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 21/05/2020 21:53

ditto canIhave!

MissEliza · 21/05/2020 21:56

@CanIHaveAPenguinPlease indeed.

*Meghan Markle's experience as a 'B-list actress' on Suits wasn't going to prepare her for the global spotlight that comes with being part of the Firm, a royal expert has claimed.

Despite the Duchess of Sussex, 38, having a successful career acting in US legal drama Suits, royal commentator Katie Nicholl tells 9Honey that her fame wouldn't have helped her navigate her new royal life*

oof!

WinnieTheW0rm · 21/05/2020 22:12

That's sad yolo

I can remember thinking back when we were all first hearing of her as a serious girlfriend of Harry, how she sounded absolutely perfect for him. Is it the case that what we were hearing about her then just wan't true? Not so much where she was in the actors pecking order, but the interest in good works.

MadameXX · 21/05/2020 22:37

Let’s hope Aitch (as we call him) doesn’t read the comments below the DM article.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 21/05/2020 22:39

Much of what’s quoted in the article has appeared elsewhere - suggesting GK doesn’t really have an inside track and is just regurgitating old copy.

If Gayle King is saying something about Oprah, it comes with Oprah's blessing.

Winterlife yes, sorry, I knew of their friendship. What I meant, but expressed poorly, is that the sole reason for the article must have been to act as Oprah's mouthpiece, because there is nothing else in the article that isn't old news gleaned from other sources rather than from H&M themselves.

Has anyone seen the video of William and Kate being Bingo callers? High Five to them 😁

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 22/05/2020 00:15

I agree Coronavirus has finished any grand plans, I think what will pan out now is product endorsement, Meghan will bring out her own clothing line, perfumes, jewellery etc, and Harry will have to be her not so glamorous assistant.

MissEliza · 22/05/2020 00:52

It's interesting how some couples bring out the best in each other and some bring out the worst in each other. It's nothing to do with how much they love each other, just the dynamics of their relationship.

MissEliza · 22/05/2020 00:55

Actually, I don't mean it's down to their dynamics, it's when people share the same weaknesses. For example db and sil are both over sensitive and exaggerate every 'slight' into a major problem. Therefore they tend to escalate everything and hold onto grudges. I have that weakness but my dh has the skin of a rhinoceros and has taught me to calm the fuck down and get on with it!

Choux · 22/05/2020 02:34

That's a lot of hustle to stay in people's minds in a crowded market. And that's before you throw in corona lockdowns and recessions / depressions. That isn't an A list or an A list + lifestyle. That's work.

She has thrown away the best A list + opportunity she had by leaving the RF. and they didn't do it with enough grace and decorum to be able to slip back in. Whoever said Meghan had peaked was right. I wonder if she realises yet.

FannyCann · 22/05/2020 06:49

It's a shame the Queen wasn't stricter with them at the time of the wedding. All of that talk about hitting the ground running. The Queen herself has said that her happiest times were being a naval wife in Malta before her father became ill. Giving Kate and William time in their early marriage was undoubtedly something both Kate and William wanted, but I thought lessons had been learned from Diana and it was a wider, thought through plan rather than simply something W&K asked for.
With H&M the response to hitting the ground running should have been a firm No, that's not how we do things here. You can tag along with Harry a bit and stay home and have your babies then we'll see.

StartupRepair · 22/05/2020 07:06

I always thought a six month apprenticeship to Princess Anne would have been an eye opener for Meghan.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 22/05/2020 07:38

Noooo! Poor Anne, she'd lose her rag within 5 minutes! Good idea though Grin

TimeLady · 22/05/2020 07:57

You're right in hindsight, although she was a 36 year-old independent woman and I'm not sure if I would have accepted being told 'no, you're not ready' then either. C'mon, she must have thought, how hard can it be?

That blind about the original Africa plans has been bothering me. If there's any truth in it (and it all seems perfectly reasonable) then Harry really was misled big-time. I could see him being over the moon (and falling hopelessly in love) with someone also wanting that sort of future but it's a complete polar opposite to where he's ended up now.

As for any billionaire queuing up in the future - well, that didn't work out well for Jackie O, by all accounts.

FannyCann · 22/05/2020 08:03

Heh. 6 months with Anne. Starting with a walk through the wardrobe and discussion of thrift, wearing 20 year old clothes and how to dress like an air hostess (but with less makeup). Grin

IloveParmaViolets · 22/05/2020 08:04

I don't think any billionaire will be queueing up for MM, she's played her hand too openly. Everyone's got the measure of her now except for Harry or maybe H has realised he's been duped & that's why he looks miserable all the time.
