on this video PC is seen saying to M and H 'standback, senior royals only', but weren't M and H senior royals at the time?
StartupRepair · 27/05/2020 01:16

I read that Tatler article thinking that the 'friends' who don't think they see the real Kate aren't actually friends which is why they are a) feeling distant and b) rightly so as they are running to the press.

Winterlife · 27/05/2020 02:49

I believe the other couple is David Foster and Katherine McPhee. Foster’s been trying to mount a Broadway production for years, and McPhee has appeared on Broadway.

WildCoastalWolf · 27/05/2020 04:51

The talented couple are David Foster and Katharine McPhee.. there have been several articles linking them with the Sussexes lately. He is a famous music producer and she is a Broadway star...

WildCoastalWolf · 27/05/2020 04:55

A misjudgment on their side if true though - foster has been touting himself on the reality circuit for years. He was married to one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for a while and often appeared on that. Had a lot of work done on his face...

LightWaterandTime · 27/05/2020 05:25

I can see why Meghan and Katherine McPhee would be friends though, they have similar backgrounds - come from nothing and worked hard to achieve a moderate amount of success and fame and then catapulted in to much great fame/prestige by marriage.

GlorianaCervixia · 27/05/2020 06:03

That Tatler article is just a rehash of everything the Daily Mail has ever written about Kate. Claiming she works as hard as a top CEO because she eleven engagements in a month is ridiculous.

It doesn’t make sense that if Kate is as polite and inscrutable as Tatler claims that she would also be having an argument about tights at Meghan’s wedding. It sounds completely implausible.

FromEden · 27/05/2020 06:52

David foster was also married to one of Caitlyn Jenners ex wives and appeared on the reality show that was a pre cursor to The Hills. He seems to like his reality TV stars and seems a bit desperate for attention tbh. Guess its just more loose lipped "friends" to add to the list

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/05/2020 07:01

Re that BG, I really doubt MM has any ambitions to sing. H made a passing joke about her singing in their engagement interview which suggested they both knew she was no singer.

Also I think the Tatler article is a load of rehashed nonsense. K's entitled to feel mightily pissed off with them but there is no way on earth she would let that be known. Her friends have had her back all these years, and yet now we are expected to believe they have decided to speak on her behalf? It's mischief making in a fallow time, royal news-wise.

The one thing it does do is raise doubt about the so called "friend" leaks from the MM camp because it seems unfair to doubt a leak from K's circle and yet accept without question those supposedly from MM's.

Or could they be the same "friends"? Curiouser and curiouser...

caperberries · 27/05/2020 07:49

Kensington Palace have issued a fairly stern rebuttal of the Tatler claims, especially re Kate being resentful of her work load.

WinnieTheW0rm · 27/05/2020 08:06

The rebuttal, suggests that the 'friend' was invented, or at least was talking without authorisation. And (again if real) might be about to be removed from friendship circle.

There is no sign of H&M repudiating what their friends say, or excluding untrustworthy ones . That's the difference. And one I wish did not exist.

Press wars by 'friends' briefings are always unedifying

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/05/2020 08:16

"Speaking to the Telegraph, a source familiar with the Duchess's work emphatically denied that she feels "exhausted and trapped" by her duties, saying the description was inaccurate and offensive.
They added: “Like many people across the country, the Duchess is juggling home schooling and work. But she's not also having to juggle being a front line worker. She is of course cognisant of that."

This sound much more like the DoC's style.

DateLoaf · 27/05/2020 08:53

And the final part of that ^ quote is: "That's who she [Kate] would much prefer the attention to be on."

That rings very true, but also I don’t feel it discounts what Tatler article says. I would feel so let down if I were in K&W’s shoes. I think K&W are only human and I think they do want to prioritise their own kids and make things ‘normal’ for them where they can, (though I’d expect their kids will be sent to board as teenagers, while Archie won’t).
It’s because I think anyone would feel resentful to have their daily lives affected by a sibling choosing to do something else (..what exactly is it?) over taking the expected path as a family. Even if in part they can see exactly where the sibling is coming from. It’s a bit like siblings sharing (or not) the caring for their elderly parents, as others have said.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/05/2020 09:57

That part fell off my C&P but you're right, DateLoaf.

W&K may well have been fizzing but they have given nothing away. And it is very much the DoC's way to deflect the focus onto the good work of others.

SunbathingDragon · 27/05/2020 10:25

I would imagine W&K are annoyed by it all. In recent years they will probably have taken on some of Philip’s and Andrew’s work as well as the Queen’s. Now they also have to take on some of H&M’s work as well as accept that it won’t be long before the Queen is no longer here and also it’s possible Charles and Camilla won’t be able to do as much. As a PP said, they are waiting for their children to be old enough and they will probably want to protect them from taking on very much at a young age.

I can see Bea and Eugenie taking on more. Their parents may not have good reputations but they haven’t done anything wrong that I’m aware of. Right now, the Royal Family can’t really afford to be too fussy especially since Anne still does a huge amount of work and is already past a typical retirement age.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 27/05/2020 10:32

Tbh I wouldn’t blame them if they were angry. I think they’d keep it to themselves though.

ButteryPuffin · 27/05/2020 10:40

It's not at all Kate's style to complain that she's got it tough. Never a word from her in many years now. Whereas most of what we hear from M&H - not only from friends, but as in the Tom Bradby interview - is how hard done by they are. The rebuttal shows that W&K are not tone deaf in this way.

SunbathingDragon · 27/05/2020 11:45

W&K have the very good Palace PR Team behind them and they follow the advice.

FruitPastillesaregood · 27/05/2020 12:01

I don't believe these reports at all. For one thing, there is no pressure on them at the moment , they're in lockdown like the rest of us. It is inevitable that they will both have far more to do as a result of H and M leaving when lockdown is over, but i don't for a minute think K would complain about it.

Hamsterian · 27/05/2020 12:21

I’m glad to see they did a formal rebuttal.

MangoFeverDream · 27/05/2020 13:22

So H&M leaving gives W&K little respite now AND no respite in future.. possibly until George and siblings are able to take on duties- which is more than 20 years into the future. That’s a hell of a burden when you think about it. I also absolutely understand why they had three kids now

It’s not a huge burden at all, they are close to 40 by now, one thinks they can get on with a part-time (at best) job without complaint. Honestly the cheek of these two

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 27/05/2020 13:47

I disagree Mango. I think it probably does look easy from the outside, but the pressure will be ramping up on them both and it will be relentless for the rest of their lives.

Meanwhile, HaM are sunning themselves, playing with baby Arch, and working out which A lister will help them the most.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/05/2020 13:58

Bit surprised originally about the Kensington Palace rebuttal - but then, apart from the Queen W&K are among only a few in the RF who look reasonably "clean" and they probably want to keep it that way

MangoFeverDream · 27/05/2020 13:58

the pressure will be ramping up on them both and it will be relentless for the rest of their lives

They can quit if they hate it so much. But no one ever does. Even H&M were basically kicked out, they didn’t want to leave (they just wanted to profit).

Tells me all I need to know about the ‘workload’.

ajandjjmum · 27/05/2020 13:59

I think to say it is not a huge burden shows a lack of understanding of what is involved in the life of the royals. And on the whole (unless you're Harry), you can't just jack it when you fancy a change, or get a better offer.

It's not just the hours you're on show, it's the prep work that you need to be on top of, and the total relentlessness of there being absolutely no escape. Even on Christmas Day!

There are massive benefits, of course, but anyone who things it's a doddle is in cloud cuckoo land imo.
