Yeh different situations, The Irish Guards don't look to Kate as one of their own.

I can't believe that Harry chose to go to the LIon King. His judgement is really poor. I feel sorry for him though. It was probably a tough decision and he did the easy thing which is going to leave him feeling a bit shabby and annoyed with himself.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep - I saw her in an episode of Castle where she was the baddie for about 30 seconds

I remember that Castle episode with the "Fairy tale" killer - where MM played Sleeping Beauty (an apparent victim) yet turned out to be the murderer in her big scene.

When she gave her dramatic "thriving not surviving" interview I realised that she had payed in in the same way as the scene in the Castle episode with big doe eyes looking up, the hint of a tear, helpless expression and a slight wobble of lower lip ..... the bam she switches to murderer ("the friggin bow!!!)
not great sound but a link to her big scene

*played it in

No Wolfgirrl, you have completely twisted my words and missed the point. This thread is not about the royal family, it's about H & M, and what I don't like about them is their hypocrisy. Harry pretends to care about the military, or perhaps he does, but his behaviour that night demonstrated that he only cares if it doesn't inconvenience him in any way and something better doesn't come along (premiere). I have never heard Kate waxing lyrical about the Irish Guards, how much she misses them and that her life isn't the same without them. Then snubbed them for time with her children. Big difference is I can relate to what Kate did, and she's not pretending to be something she's not.

Wolfgirrl · 04/05/2020 14:00

So? A commitment is a commitment. Should the royals get to duck out of commitments if the subject matter isnt that interesting to them?

Kate has a nanny. Her excuse was pathetic and you know it.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 04/05/2020 14:04

Are you a headmistress Wolfgirrl? It’s as if you are expecting everyone who posts to snap to attention. Most people, myself included, are just having a bit of a chat, albeit online. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Serenster · 04/05/2020 14:05

The situation with Kate and the Irish guards, and Harry and the Marines isn't comparing apples with apples, for two reasons. Firstly, it is the Colonel of the Irish Guards who is invited to the St Patrick's Day event. That is William, not Kate. Kate generally accompanies him. It was Harry who held that ceremonial role in relation to the Marines and so was the primary attendee at the Marines event. You'd need to be comparing William dropping out rather than Kate - except he hasn't, so you can't.

The bigger difference, however, to me is the reason for the non-attendance. Kate didn't attend, and we don't know why. It could be because a family member was having a health issue, she could have needed urgent dental work, she may have just fancied a lie in that morning - we can only speculate. Whether or not you then give her a pass for her non-attendance probably depends on your attitude to Kate in general. In Harry's case, we know exactly why he didn't attend - he prioritised accompanying his wife to a Disney film premiere, in the course of which he was filmed promoting his wife's voiceover abilities to Disney's CEO. So we are perfectly able to make an informed assessment about his priorities - he has made them quite clear.

I've no idea why Kate ducked that commitment but it COULD perhaps have been because one of the kids was ill, but that she didn't want to say so (because health issues are usually kept quiet). But she has since let it be known that one or other of them was ill when she didn't attend something, so maybe it's been decided that it is better to make it public than be slated for/perceived as being flaky.
As I say, that's just musing on my part.

CallmeAngelina · 04/05/2020 14:12

By the way, has Harry ever acknowledged the backlash he got for that? Tried to provide a good reason/excuse/justification? Or did he just ignore it?

EthelMayFergus · 04/05/2020 14:15

Are you in the Irish Guards Wolfgirrl? Because you seem really upset that she didn't attend that night. Were you hoping to meet her? There will be other times, I'm sure.

megletthesecond · 04/05/2020 14:20

Finding Freedom isn't a piss take name. It's on Amazon. Bloody hell Shock.

I've got the Sid Vicious version of "My Way" in my head now.

Lordfrontpaw · 04/05/2020 14:22

I misread that as 'fighting freedom'. Kind of fits.

TinRoofRusty · 04/05/2020 14:23

Wolfgirl, why not start you own thread called I Hate Catherine Cambridge instead of trying to derail every single RF one by bringing up Catherine Cambridge?

TinRoofRusty · 04/05/2020 14:27

By the way, has Harry ever acknowledged the backlash he got for that? Tried to provide a good reason/excuse/justification? Or did he just ignore it?

He ignored it. He can't take criticism now, can he? I mean, he is very hard done by, his life has been exceptionally difficult and he is now the first man to procreate, he has a family doncha know, and he, the alpha male, must roar to protect his pride and cubs. Poor thing.

SunbathingDragon · 04/05/2020 14:27

didnt kate snub the irish guards to spend time at home with her children?

William still attended though so it went ahead without an issue. Kate doesn’t have a background link to the Irish Guards. Perhaps one of the children were unwell or perhaps after not being with them for a while and imminently going abroad on a tour without them, she just wanted to spend time with them.

YgritteSnow · 04/05/2020 14:34

I am ex army. Kate not turning up to hand out ceremonial shamrocks to The Irish Guards because she was with her very young children can in no way be compared to Hazza choosing to attend a Disney premiere instead of a memorial for Royal Marine band members killed in their music training school as they prepared to attend music practice and training.

Even without being ex army I really would be struggling to understand how anyone can see any similarity between the two, and I am finding the attempts to equate the two rather disgusting tbh.

Honestly I am reading @Wolfgirrl's posts like Confused.

TinRoofRusty · 04/05/2020 14:36

She does the same thing on every H&M thread, Ygritte, shows up and posts, 'But what about Kate?! Kate did this and Kate did that!' Every one.

coconutpie · 04/05/2020 14:42

Mind blown at Wolfgirrl's poor attempt to try and compare Harry ditching the military event for a Disney premiere to Catherine not attending the Irish Guard event to be with her DC. How is that even relevant? It's not even her event, it's William's and she accompanies him. It's clear Wolfgirrl has a major issue with the Cambridges.

EthelMayFergus · 04/05/2020 14:45

I am too Ygritte. Bizarre.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/05/2020 14:55

She's been acting since she met Harry. The whole lovey dovey, smooching, draped all over each other routine. Did anyone actually think she was genuine?

I didn't, no, but I kept it down at the time knowing I could well be wrong

Unfortunately, that ship seems to have sailed

Justmuddlingalong · 04/05/2020 15:04

Harry smiles happily at his new fiancée as she gently cups his bollocks.
Meghan smiles smugly at her new fiance, just before she starts squeezing.
