I agree about the foot scar. Not something the public needed to know about.

RosesandIris · 05/05/2020 00:08

Foot scar? I missed that bit somewhere..

Mail article where they pointed out a photo of her foot looks like she's had a bunion removed. Pointless.

Scobie has made his name on the back of being known as their trusted hack. So this becomes interesting now as frankly, any statement that they did not cooperate with him will be implausible. I wonder if they will bottle it and not go for anything too damaging to the Royals, knowing that it will look massively ungrateful - and stupid - to criticise the Queen, Prince Philip or Prince Charles. What they can do, and have pretty much advertised that they will do, is go full throttle on the nasty mean press that ruined it for them. If Scobie ever wanted to rejoin the mainstream journalistic ranks, that might be awkward for him. But it looks like he's cast his lot in as faithful royal correspondent now, so I expect the papers to get the brunt of their wrath.

The other interesting grey area is how they discuss the Cambridges. Whatever's behind it, relations are not warm there at the moment. It would be prudent to keep William on side since he will eventually be in charge of the purse strings, but a) they haven't let that bother them to date and b) they may reason that it'll be 20+ years yet and another gravy train will have come along by then. But I will be very interested to see how emboldened they feel about portraying the Cambridges as the villains of the family.

I think this book is going to be a damp squib, I think a lot of people think it’s going to be a tell all like Diana her true story, all this book will be is some lightweight, fluffy, sycophantic drivel about how they escaped the shackles of a historic institution that were holding their woke, changing the world abilities back, and how they had to escape the revolting racist British public and media.

What we will not see (at this stage) is any of the real dirt, they are not going to play that card to early, certainly not before Daddy dearest has signed the huge cheque of financial support, no, that card will be played when they don’t get what they want, and it won’t be through some pamphlet, written by a nobody journalist that no one has heard of. When the time comes (and it will, just not now) there will be a huge reveal all done in secret with Oprah on prime time American tv. All we will see from this student production is a taster, it is a warning to the royals of what they could actually do if they pressed the nuclear button.....

StartupRepair · 05/05/2020 00:53

Or will the angle be about Harry's freedom from the mean family who made him walk behind his mother's coffin and celebrate his father's marriage to OW?

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/05/2020 00:53

*too early - I should really check before I post

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/05/2020 01:04

Not yet Startup it may be touched upon but a lot will be held back, when they do go nuclear, it will be a production, it will be theatre, way too soon for all that.....yet.

but H said 'she felt like she was in a family she never had'.

MissEliza · 05/05/2020 01:13

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't want to know about other people's feet!

StartupRepair · 05/05/2020 01:24

Just want to say I do feel for for Harry, not being flippant about his childhood trauma.

newbiefrugalgal · 05/05/2020 02:08

Won't buy it.

Wauden · 05/05/2020 02:09

Finding freedom from having a very expensive dream wedding, a free house converted to your specifications and expensive dresses???

Is this for real?

ARoseInHarlem · 05/05/2020 02:19

That DM piece about MM's feet is awful. Nothing to do with abuse of privilege - just mean and bitchy.

Winterlife · 05/05/2020 02:24

I think H&M better get used to "mean and bitchy" from the DM. Though really, who cares if a woman's feet aren't picture perfect beautiful? Does anyone judge MM, or any woman, for having less than "perfect" feet? MM obviously had to wear toe crunching heels (that I refuse to subject myself to) in her work. It has no relevance in terms of her, as a person.

caringcarer · 05/05/2020 03:02

I think it more likely that the public will read the newspapers account of her court case than the sicophantic Scobie book. We all know that book will be written by Megs as she always wants to put across her account as gospel. When they get one year review I wonder what Queen will decide.

caringcarer · 05/05/2020 03:18

PC should cut them off without any more handouts. How many people in middle age expect their pensioner father to pay their way in life, whilst they have millions of their own money in the bank? It is crazy.

TheClootieDumplin · 05/05/2020 03:33

It was my first thought when I saw the article.

WinnieTheW0rm · 05/05/2020 06:13

The original articles about it said that they had been interviewed for it

Links? I was wondering what the source/s are for that, and if they are in a position to know.

It would help if H&M would be clear about the extent of their cooperation (there must be some, as there has been no repudiation). Because the facts of that don't change, irrespective of what reception the book gets idc

StartupRepair · 05/05/2020 06:41

How can there be a book about their new life when they are so clearly flailing and floundering around to work out what that life is?
10 am phone rich friends to investigate borrowing their mansion.
11 am read every comment under the Daily Mail article and take notes about how wrong they are.
12 pm identify key date for a royal family member and plan to release a photo on that date.
1 pm phone lawyers about court case.
2 pm phone Sunshine Sachs to berate them about lack of positive exposure.
3 pm smoothies and yoga
4 pm plan outfit for pap walk with dogs.
This is not a life to aspire to.

RosesandIris · 05/05/2020 06:52

😁😁

I think the DM is just trying to fire a warning shot to MM to say look how low we can go - wait until the court case.... very much as MM firing warning shots to the RF

Winterlife · 05/05/2020 07:26

Personally, I believe Meghan, at least, did speak to Scobie.

I think there's a pattern with MM. A few versions of a story get leaked, and people try to figure out which one is the truth. The only other figure who does this on a regular basis is President Trump, who releases some BS distraction almost daily. So, we won't know the truth, unless the authors release that information.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/05/2020 07:47

StartUp
Grin
Also loving the comments about Ginge, Cringe and The Git. Writing them like this instantly put me in mind of the dreaded Biff, Chip and Kipper series.... fuck did they go on a bit! Archie obviously couldn’t be the git.... maybe Scobie could take the role. Published by Magic Money Tree perhaps? Endless title possibilities.

Lost In Bullshit
The Kensington Plot
Archewell Adventure
The Broken Bank Account
Woke Planet

.... The Git was having his weekly colonic when the golden egg glowed.

SunbathingDragon · 05/05/2020 08:20

I can’t see why anyone would write that book without cooperation and also I would imagine they were more or less told to do so. Otherwise, H&M just haven’t done anything worthy of note to write a book about, and they certainly haven’t found any freedom. They’ve gone from the confines of the RF where the media was more or less under control (unless you chose to sell stories to it) to LA where the paps and media can say and so more or less whatever they like to get their headlines and stories. It’s not freedom! It might well be what they want because they want and like the glitzy life, but it’s not a life most would choose.
