This apparently is one of the problems between W and H the fact that H will have to ask his brother for money

So William doesn't have to automatically hand over millions to Harry, who of course won't need it because he'll be financially independent.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Harry and Kate with these scenarios. As someone else has said upthread, Harry bangs on about his military life and how important it was- but faced with a choice, he chose a film premiere over a military commitment. That says a lot about his priorities.

We don’t know why Kate didn’t turn up. But William is the one with the ceremonial office attached to the regiment. They went on a tour of India 2 weeks after the event, and in the days leading up to it Kate had been in London for various events- maybe she just did want a few days at home with her small children before she had to leave them? I’m not fussed by it at all tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wolfgirrl, however bonkers, is very good at getting everyone to talk about what she wants to talk about. This is what happens every time she arrives in a thread.

At the time, there was a rumour of a security threat so Kate stayed home with the kids just in case.

Many women with a 10-month old at home wouldn't need to phone their employer to ask for time off, they would be off anyway (maternity leave).

I do think Wolfgirrl has a point about Kate not sticking to the commitment with the Irish Guards. I remember reading she had a hair appointment that day, but I don't know how true that is. I also read the Guards were extremely disappointed and felt very let down. It was certainly poor form.

I think people have to be fair..it does feel at times that H&M is criticised for everything (and I don't like them at all, believe me) whereas people are more willing to excuse K&W. That isn't right.

So is the book available for pre-order ? Think I'd rather read the new Twilight one.

I haven't heard of Kate missing engagements like that before so I would hope it's a rare thing. It is a shame they were let down though.

I can see why the Irish Guards felt let down but the fact is we don't know why Kate wasn't there. So it's difficult to judge. She may have had good reason that she didn't want to publicise, she may not.

On the other hand, we know exactly why Harry didn't attend the Marines anniversary and I'm not surprised it rankled with the military. It was a disgrace, and the video of him touting for work for Meghan instead of honouring fallen colleagues was excruciating. I'm not military, but I've visited war graves with active members of the services and veterans and have seen just how remembrance is taken very, very seriously by them.

H must be well and truly under the thumb to have thought attending the premiere was more important.

TBF to Kate, no one knows if she had been unwell either (small children, at least 2 at that stage, who knows what she had going on?). I'm sure the Irish Guards were a bit disappointed, but not as insulted as the Marines would have been. Missing the 30th anniversary of Deal : really really "poor form" to quote a pp.

Even if you think Kate got an unwarranted free pass, that does not make Harry’s actions in jettisoning a commitment even remotely acceptable.

Though Kate doesn’t appear to have done it because something better came up - she wasn’t seen out and about at the time PW kept the engagement

I concur, yolo. It was shocking poor form of H&M to go to a Disney premiere (not even mentioning how corrupt that company is) to hawk for work rather than attend the Marines anniversary.

Please don't get me wrong...i cannot abide that pair but K&W don't walk on water and I think it's just fair to point out their mistakes too if we are gonna do that for the other two. That's it...that's all my point was.

Well if Harry had gone to the Marines thing and Meghan the Disney thing, that would have been different. They would have been honestly accountable.

Willian WENT to the Irish Guards thing. Kate stayed at home and we don't know why.
