Is there something seriously wrong with him?

He’s right about the press. But then the posters on this thread are predominantly Daily Mail readers so are automatically going to lap up all the hate the DM stands for, towards anyone.

It’s simple. Those people who don’t want to read about him, stop reading the Daily Mail.

If you didn’t read the tabloids you wouldn’t be hearing anything about them. There are many on MN who only learn about what Harry and Megan are up to from the Daily mail supporters on these types of threads.

ukgift2016 · 20/04/2020 06:18

I used to like Harry AND Meghan.

I am now though disappointed Harry moved to LA to live it up as a celebrity. Yet he is still trying stick his nose into UK business. He has now lost all credibility and the sooner he realises that the better. Trying to hold onto past glories will just hold him back in his new American life. Move on Harry.

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/04/2020 06:26

AlternativePerspective
Not true. A number of sources have been quoted in past threads. Certainly not just tabloids. This one just happens to be a tabloid.

The irony is that you are so busy defending Harry that you failed to comprehend that a medical professor and oncologist finds his comments outrageous. Do you think Prof Sikora has been brainwashed by mumsnet and the daily mail too? 😂😂

RosesandIris · 20/04/2020 06:42

alternative

Posted two other non DM sources above. There are many, many more. Just look.

WinnieTheW0rm · 20/04/2020 06:54

Not a DM reader. And I think making assumptions about people's other preferences because they think a (still drawing from the Duchy purse) Royal has hit a bum note; is lazy stereotyping and can easily be interpreted as a slur.

I think today's statement (as reporters by BBC) about no longer coooerating with tabloids extraordinary. Three main reasons:

  • because there has been no sign of cooperation in ages (indeed the opposite p, they have been open in condemnation for months now and have initiated a number of legal actions)
  • it's redundant a) because it's part and parcel of the stepping back and b) it doesn't need announcing anyhow, just do it
  • it misreads the public mood to,an utterly staggering extent.
PatchworkElmer · 20/04/2020 07:01

That letter. Wow. It comes across as incredibly egotistical and utterly tone deaf.

RosesandIris · 20/04/2020 07:02

- it misreads the public mood to,an utterly staggering extent.

This, a hundred times. They’re living in a privileged bubble, with nothing to do apart from pick over perceived slights and grievances, whilst living on Duchy money.

Blossom513 · 20/04/2020 07:03

The latest news was actually reported by ITV news first and I believe Harry and Meghan went directly to the Guardian with a statement. But I've not slept so may have misread that.

KatherineJaneway · 20/04/2020 07:06

Whoever advises them is doing an incredibly poor job. He is simply embarrassing himself now.

I used to like them. They are just becoming a ridiculous now.

The pandemic came at the worst possible time for them. Celebrity just isnt what it was pre-pandemic.

They didnt have time to become the power celeb couple they planned on. Yes they were famous, but the hadnt established their new roles and people are increasingly less bothered by celebrities.

They left, good for them, I think it was the best thing for them. But that goes both ways. William and Kate are doing things in relation to the pandemic. The Queen addressing the nation and then again on Easter Sunday, has given the royal family attention in a way thats relevant to the pandemic. They are fully aware that if they had stayed, for a few more months there would be loads more attention on them as part of the royal family.

They left and didnt get to do all the attention seeking events they planned but the Royal Family are getting attention.

Those photos of them delivering meals were staged. To get attention.

Their problem is that if they step out of the spotlight for the next year and stop trying to get media mentions, then trying to become that celebrity couple will be much harder.

If they has waited it out and stayed a few more months, that wouldn't have been an issue.

I dont blamed either of them. I feel bad for him that he lost his mum in such a public way. But let's be honest, he is a grown man. He is worth a fortune and can seek any help or support he needs. I dont think this is why he is doing this. I think as a couple, they believed their celebrity, out grew the Royal Family. That they could have the benefits, but not the downsides.

I think it would have worked, had the pandemic not hit. During these times theres more focus on the Royal family, not less and they are missing out. That's what it comes down to.

They need to be very careful about they manage this period, because people are becoming I increasingly bored with celebs attention seeking during this period.

NuclearWinter · 20/04/2020 07:24

Rights or wrongs of the change in media strategy aside - that letter is appallingly written. Does no one bother writing public statements properly any more? I blame Trump for lowering the bar for professional public announcements Smile

Ughmaybenot · 20/04/2020 07:26

Honestly, I used to like Prince Harry. I felt sorry for him, and he seemed like a guy who was kind and liked to have fun, but also one who could and would make mistakes sometimes, how very relatable. And then Meghan came along and that was very nice, and clearly they were besotted and got married and lovely jubbly.
Unfortunately it’s got to the point now for me where if I never heard anything about either of them again it would be too soon. This whole pathetic charade or hating the media but also loving it but also ‘leave us alone but also we’re doing charitable stuff, come look at us’ has done my head in. They’re both entirely tonedeaf as to the best way of moving forward or as appearing in any way likeable, and seem to choose their next moves by studying what they said or did last and choosing the polar opposite of that.
Annoying, self absorbed people who really bring nothing to the table of life.

TimeLady · 20/04/2020 07:27

So have they sent a letter to organisations such as this too?

Meghan Markle Shock: Harry Reportedly 'Begged' Wife To End 2-Year Feud With Kate Middleton

It’s really interesting that they are using the same photography company for the staged pap shots of them delivering food as her dad used for his ‘suit’ photos.

Hamsterian · 20/04/2020 07:45

They are embarrassing!
That letter is appallingly written, their typical word salad. And of course they are still referring to themselves as the Duke and Duchess, even though they consider the whole institution outdated and toxic...

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 20/04/2020 07:49

It's hilarious. They complain the tabloids distort and make things up about them so their plan to combat this is not to engage with them. Thereby ensuring that anything published is distorted or made up.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 20/04/2020 07:58

Oh dear. Will they never learn?

WildCoastalWolf · 20/04/2020 08:05

I have a strong feeling the wrote that letter themselves and possibly just had someone sanity check it for them. It does not read like anything that would be produced by a law firm or any other kind of professional agency.

I think they are living in an echo chamber and are surrounded by people telling them what they want to hear.

Incredibly bad timing to release this. It's just so trivial given what the average person is facing at the moment.

They keep on pulling that tiger's tale don't they. The best way to get the press off your back is to ignore them, become boring and beige.

COVID couldn't have come at a worse time for them. No met gala, no charity fundraisers, no speaking events...

Lordfrontpaw · 20/04/2020 08:10

They need to get the Arla PR team on the job!

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/04/2020 08:13

Their just normal people now. Making food parcel drops in Porsche’s while nanny looks after the baby.

Their life mirrors mine now 😂🤔.

custardbear · 20/04/2020 08:20

I don't follow these guys much, I do recall
Someone saying Meghan gets bored after 2 years, which has happened and she's FO'd the responsibility she took as a member of the RF within moments of saying I do

So effectively, within 2 years she's moved to the U.K., hooked up with someone to elevate her status, as she apparently said she would! on her own she managed to get one fair TV role on a Netflix show that is a bit popular in pockets (like many others, I'd never heard of it, or her, before she showed up draped on Harry), but I don't think thst managed to get her any better roles (?).

In all honesty, looking from a long way back, to me she seems to have used him to try her best to spring board herself into a world leading feminist and people/world problem saver, except that failed tragically because she herself doesn't bother with her own spoutings. So now she's FO'd back to Tinseltown, with a quick lily pad stop in Canada so it doesn't look too much like she's running home / back to being an actress because she can't handle it/doesn't like the way people realise she's hypocritical and are not buying into her lies and hypocrisy, but has ripped her little puppet out of his homeland and responsibilities and still he's bleating on even though they don't want to be involved anymore -
Fine,
Go
Then!

Harry, has been taught better I'm sure, a RF role isn't meant to be something that reflects a 'me, me me, look at me' approach, but this has happened, and he has changed over the last few years. Again, self serving, puppet to jettison Meghan's career no doubt, and he's fallen for it, and messed up his own life/'career'. The RF see through it all, using the RF name to make money (so overtly!) isn't the done thing, but they STILL don't get it and continue using it. Mind you the whole Hollywood bollocks is likely to buy straight into that 🙄

Harry/Meghan the people don't buy into your uneducated and self-serving insincere crap, the Tabloids know this and throw it back at you, hence you throwing your toys out of the pram ... just step away, become Harry and Meghan Windsor and keep out of the way of professionals, particularly when it comes to reporting important things you've no clue about

SoupDragon · 20/04/2020 08:23

Ah yes, the Daily Fail. That bastion of unbiased and honest journalism.
