Is there something seriously wrong with him?

Sorry to let the side down Hazza, but I'm a single mum with a full time job and I'm also homeschooling a 4 year old. Volunteering would be delightful, but I'm awfully stretched at the moment

Yep. And they clearly still have childcare as they have been pictured volunteering together. Presumably they still have staff for Archie (unless they moved her mother in?). Either way, surely it would be more charitable to let your nanny/mother stay home during a pandemic rather than deliver a few meals for a PR opportunity. It was hardly essential for them both to go was it?

YgritteSnow · 20/04/2020 01:08

It was hardly essential for them both to go was it?

Or gone separately and delivered twice as much. But then we'd have missed out on the obligatory Guiding Hand On Hazza's Back photo wouldn't we?

StartupRepair · 20/04/2020 01:12

There has never been anything stopping them leading a quiet, wealthy and relatively paparazzi free life. Pimping themselves out in LA is not the pathway to this.

miri1985 · 20/04/2020 01:13

Is this a flounce or something else?

They've released to the rest of the media a letter that they sent on Saturday to the Mail, Sun, Mirror and Express that they wouldn't be collaborating or answering anymore questions from them etc. It was on itv's website at midnight so I assume it was embargoed so it would be featured in the Monday morning papers.

They apparently don't mind negative coverage but won't tolerate lies

www.itv.com/news/2020-04-20/harry-and-meghan-cut-all-ties-with-four-british-tabloids-over-their-reporting-and-lies/

I thought we weren't going to be hearing from them for months after sussex royal shut down but I feel like I'm hearing about them more than ever and with the court case starting up they're going to be in the news more than ever

Blossom513 · 20/04/2020 01:15

It's just going to be drip drip drip of articles until they can announce their new brand.

catspyjamas123 · 20/04/2020 01:20

It’s pretty straightforward. If they don’t want publicity then they could live quietly and not seek attention. They could make a donation to a charity and not have to go out and be photographed. And as he has left the Royal Family nobody cares what he has to say.

Blossom513 · 20/04/2020 01:24

From that itv article

However, in light of the world’s current focus on the coronavirus pandemic, there will be questions raised about the timing of this announcement from the couple.
But with legal action against the Mail on Sunday moving forward in the High Court, the couple said it was “necessary” to set out their new agenda now.

This is the second 'necessary' thing they have had to release during the pandemic. People don't care what the name of the foundation is right now and people wouldn't even notice if they don't speak with the tabloids again. They will still report on you Harry and Meghan, if they are lies then they will continue to lie! So why keep releasing these statements to the public when the world is suffering a pandemic? People do not want to hear it right now!

StartupRepair · 20/04/2020 01:29

Does this mean Meghan's friends will stop feeding the media about how toxic and unkind the UK is?

Blossom513 · 20/04/2020 01:36

Probably not, because they've only said they won't deal with them directly. They didn't mention their friends Grin Honestly, I don't think much is going to change as far as the general public is concerned. The papers all pinch each other's stories anyway. The tabloids will also just get their stories and pics from the US.

GlorianaCervixia · 20/04/2020 01:40

He’s never been very articulate. Meghan seems far more intelligent and she’s certainly better educated and had more real experience of the world. He’s combined the worst of both worlds - her crusading nature with his thin-skinned, self-absorption.

He’s out of his depth on nearly every topic he campaigns on and it’s embarrassing to see. Cutting ribbons and shaking hands was more his level.

Defenbaker · 20/04/2020 02:09

"He is definitely two butlers short of a picnic."

@ArchePenguin Grin Loving your work!

LawrenceMarlow · 20/04/2020 02:24

They're triers, got to give them that.
Getting this letter out a day or so before their privacy case starts and a day or so after setting up pap shots that went exclusively to two of the tabloids they're wanting to do anything with.
Nice of them to share it with ITV though so we can all see it.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 20/04/2020 03:12

Sorry but Harry who? Grin

Phantom1 · 20/04/2020 03:25

He denounced the UK, the public and the Royal Family and buggered off. Now, it seems he wants to join in with what's happening here - like with the joy Captain Tom and his fundraising has given. He should leave well alone and stop trying to jump on our bandwagon.

Yester · 20/04/2020 03:30

Maybe juat maybe the Daily Mail also has a nasty agenda?Hmm

Blossom513 · 20/04/2020 03:47

Full letter to the tabloids...

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now settle into the next chapter of their lives and no longer receive any publicly funded support, we are writing to set a new media relations policy, specifically as it pertains to your organisation.
Like you, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex believe that a free press is a cornerstone to any democracy - particularly in moments of crisis. At its best, this free press shines light on dark places, telling stories that would otherwise go untold, standing up for what's right, challenging power, and holding those who abuse the system to account.
It has been said that journalism's first obligation is to the truth. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex agree wholeheartedly.
It is gravely concerning that an influential slice of the media, over many years, has sought to insulate themselves from taking accountability for what they say or print - even when they know it to be distorted, false, or invasive beyond reason. When power is enjoyed without responsibility, the trust we all place in this much needed industry is degraded.
There is a real human cost to this way of doing business and it affects every corner of society.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have watched people they know - as well as complete strangers - have their lives completely pulled apart for no good reason, other than the fact that salacious gossip boosts advertising revenue.
With that said, please note that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be engaging with your outlet. There will be no corroboration and zero engagement. This is also a policy being instated for their communications team, in order to protect that team from the side of the industry that readers never see.
This policy is not about avoiding criticism. It's not about shutting down public conversation or censoring accurate reporting. Media have every right to report on The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, good or bad. But it can't be based on a lie. They also want to be very clear: this is not in any way a blanket policy for all media.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to working with journalists and media organisations all over the world, engaging with grassroots media, regional and local media, and young, and up-and-coming journalists, to spotlight issues and causes that so desperately need acknowledging. And they look forward to doing whatever they can to help further opportunities for more diverse and underrepresented voices, who are needed now more than ever.
What they won't do is offer themselves up as currency for an economy of clickbait and distortion.
We are encouraged that this new approach will be heard and respected

How many times was the duke and duchess of Sussex mentioned in one letter. This is as drively as all their other statements.

Blossom513 · 20/04/2020 03:48

Ohh the daily mail hearing is on Friday! I guess we will learn some truths then.

PatchworkElmer · 20/04/2020 03:55

I think his comments have been taken out of context here- however, he really needs to stop talking for the time being. It’s doing them more harm than good.

HanaHeya · 20/04/2020 04:05

Dear Media,
Look, we haven’t been in the media much recently and we’re a bit worried that we are fast becoming irrelevant so we just wanted to remind you that even though we say don’t want to be in the media we haven’t been in the media so if you could just let the media know that would be great.
Cheers, H&M

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/04/2020 04:17

Ok, so they won’t work with some elements of the press because those elements publish lies. But they will work with certain elements of the press and are actually looking forward to collaborating with them.

Wait, wait, what happened to wanting a life of obscurity? Does that mean they were...... lying?? Do lies only count if it is not they, who are lying?!

As for their followers, do they not realise that some of them read and get their info on H&M from those papers? Do they not realise they have just insulted a chunk of their adulating fans?

Ffs. That letter oozes wealth and privilege.

Lynda07 · 20/04/2020 04:31

Context is all, Harry didn't say anything particularly controversial and definitely not how it has been reported.

He left to live abroad. So do many others. I don't blame him one bit.

@HanaHeya Grin Grin Grin

RosesandIris · 20/04/2020 05:45

Will we ever be rid of them? They’re paranoid and self absorbed to an embarrassing degree. Even during a Pandemic affecting the whole world all they talk about is themselves.
