Is there something seriously wrong with him?

Yes he wanted a private life and now that he has it I really cannot understand why he speaks about things that he has left behind.
He was traumatised by his earlier life but he seems to be traumatizing himself him now

Did anyone else think Meghan looks very pregnant in that first photo?

Cam77 · 19/04/2020 21:39

I feel sorry for the bloke. He didnt ask to be born into the most fucked up of families. Think about the shit that Diana, Charles, Andrew etc went through/ have gone through in front of a billion people.
By the way, I can't fucking stand the monarchy, its a ridiculous anachronism. But I have a small grudging respect for Harry for getting himself and his family out of there. Maybe he can at some point enjoy something approaching a normal life.

fascinated · 19/04/2020 21:43

Well, he did do the whole dress up/ nazi thing when he was younger ... that didn’t exactly endear himself to folk. He’s a bit dense.

Oh trust me, there are many many even more fucked up families out there, some horrific stuff.

It doesn’t give you a pass to behave in an entitled arrogant way,

Harry, we'd like to begin to miss you, but you won't go away.

ssd · 19/04/2020 21:57

All this the nations in it together, if he feels like that tell him to go be a scriptwriter for Mccains oven chips adverts and leave it at that.

Dogwithanovenmit · 19/04/2020 22:06

They hate Meghan for the crime of not being white.

I disagree. I think Meghan and Harry’s ‘crime’ which many have run out of patience about is their hypocrisy (private jets, intercontinental baby showers, tennis match spectating while lecturing about carbon footprints, ethical travel to and sustainability ); whining about not being ok and not thriving (South Africa tour stood in the grounds of a centre for rehabilitation of land mine victims), lack of commitment (talking about hitting the ground running and then buggering off after 18 months because the Royal Family are a stuffy, stifling, emotionless mob who are ruining their lives, hating the press yet courting it with pap walks and PR stunts, crassness - pontificating on what’s going on in lockdown UK and talking to members of the UK public re lockdown. Do they want to be working royals or do they want a private life in the US? Meghans colour has nothing to do with why she is disliked. If it was there wouldn’t have been such an outpouring of support and goodwill around their wedding imo.

Dirtystreetpie · 19/04/2020 22:08

So obviously talking about the community spirit and the positive kind things people are doing, not all the rule breaking that the media focuses on. Why does everyone always want to jump on him? It’s clearly taken out of context. People are so stupid!

Spanglishness · 19/04/2020 22:11

Cannot stand him

cherry2727 · 19/04/2020 22:19

Thanks for the replies all! Very interesting perspectives. I always liked what I knew of Harry and I still do. I just wonder whether he is a bit vulnerable as he has been badly affected by the absence of his mom. I do agree that he shouldn't have left the royal family the way that he did which brings me back to the point of vulnerability. I feel great empathy and pity for him.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 19/04/2020 22:38

I cannot believe from these replies that some people still believe that Harry left the RF for a quiet life and to "protect his family". He has moved to Hollywood, the glitziest place on the planet, where he is trying to create a Beckham type family brand so he can fund the lifestyle he wants and is used to. He has to speak to promote the brand but unfortunately because he is so stupid he is incapable of saying anything sensible.
I save empathy and pity for people with real problems which are far too many in these troubled times.

BubblesBuddy · 19/04/2020 22:55

There are many very disadvantaged people who miss their mothers. He has had access to the very best in care and attention. He chooses to have a go at the press and then lives in the city which survives on gossip and the star struck press. Diana liked the press following her when it suited her. Harry has never said he would go on a Royal tour without the press entourage following his every charitable or glitzy move. He could have done. The Royal reporters are pretty fawning.

The press didn’t drive him out of the army. The army offered him a desk job. He’s very lucky he didn’t get blown up like hundreds of others. He’s largely now disappeared and left them to it. He’s clearly besotted with Meghan but she needed to support him. Not keep saying how awful her life was.

Jillyhilly · 19/04/2020 23:22

Maybe he can at some point enjoy something approaching a normal life.

You think LA is where they’re going to find a “normal life”?

ArchePenguin · 19/04/2020 23:28

He talks about how people should be “selfless” and to start volunteering.

Perhaps he should have been a bit more selfless and stayed in the country he is preaching to, rather than branding us racist and toxic.

JaniceBattersby · 19/04/2020 23:29

I think he’s missed the mark here. He’s had some bad press in the past but attacking the media over their coverage of covid is just plain wrong. There’s been acres of coverage about Tom Moore, loads of stories about the huge community efforts going on, about the heroic efforts of our healthcare professionals, about those putting their lives on the lines for the good of their country, about the country’s response each Thursday to the appeal to clap for our NHS. Media pressure has helped push the government into waking up to the situation in care homes and to the lack of PPE in some hospitals. So many issues have come to light because of pressure from reporters during this crisis.

His dig at the media this time is off key and ill-timed. You can’t start attacking the media when you’re not even in the same country anymore and your tipping off the paparazzi about your altruistic visit to deliver food to the needy.

Inspiralcarpetry · 19/04/2020 23:31

I think this was discussed on a previous and extremely interesting RF thread, but Harry had a really traumatic and tragic experience, which has clearly messed with his head (understandable.)
William had the same thing happen to him and seems to have managed to take a different path. I truly believe this is in part at least due to the personality type of the woman (and their family dynamics) each son chose to marry.

LetTheCabbagesDie · 19/04/2020 23:42

He talks about how people should be “selfless” and to start volunteering.

Sorry to let the side down Hazza, but I'm a single mum with a full time job and I'm also homeschooling a 4 year old. Volunteering would be delightful, but I'm awfully stretched at the moment

MissEliza · 19/04/2020 23:52

@Inspiralcarpetry I remember my dm saying when Will and Kate got married that Will was the lucky one marrying into her family.

peppermintcapsules · 20/04/2020 00:09

What cakeis said. He's an utter divvy, and a hypocrite and a spoilt, petulant manchild into the bargain.

No wonder they want shot of it all.

Ha! No, they don't. They want attention on their terms only, and money. They got pissed off they didn't get fawned over so spat their dummy out.

KaronAVyrus · 20/04/2020 00:16

He’s as thick as mince.

peppermintcapsules · 20/04/2020 00:28

He's definitely not the brightest light in the harbour.

ArchePenguin · 20/04/2020 00:36

He is definitely two butlers short of a picnic.
