Is there something seriously wrong with him?

I've watched all of Suits. She seems very similar to her character, Rachel.

I'm sure I read somewhere that amongst the cast she was the one they all agreed was most like her character.

I think it's classic soap acting, they don't play someone too different to themselves so they seem more believable.

True, but she does a decent job nevertheless. What we don't know, because there is no evidence, is whether she can play anyone other than herself. She might be phenomenally talented and versatile, but it's surprising this hasn't been spotted before, especially for someone so driven.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 26/04/2020 16:46

I doubt it was 36 days. That's only what we know of.

Diana and Charles' courtship consisted of not much more than a dozen meetings until the day of their wedding. I can't remember the exact number but it was surprising few. Obviously they had met before.

CallmeAngelina · 26/04/2020 16:47

Re: the Westminster Abbey gig, didn't someone on here say that lip-reading experts reported that she said to him, "Big smiles," as they arrived? Well, she certainly ran with that. Him, not so much!

CallmeAngelina · 26/04/2020 16:48

Diana and Charles' courtship? Yeah, and look how that turned out!

Nikhedonia · 26/04/2020 16:48

It's not a compliment. Her and Mike were both pretty awful people in that programme. Completely hypocritical.

In the TV series, Mike was breaking the law by pretending to be a lawyer and yet the both looked down on anyone else who broke the law. It was just absurd. They were happy to sell others down the river if it suited their agenda but made out it was a noble cause because Mike did so much good. I was thrilled when they left the series. Poor actors and pretty shitty characters as no one ever caller them out on their hypocrisy.

FannyCann · 26/04/2020 16:49

Re the 36 days I seem to remember Diana claimed a mere 12 ?dates ?meetings with Charles before their engagement was announced. I assume she didn't count the odd meeting in a ploughed field when she was a child watching shooting parties at Althrop. Don't quote me though. I don't claim encyclopaedic knowledge even if Diana was accurate.

Talking of Althrop I feel his Uncle Charles Spencer might be able to give some advice whether marital or the problems of living in exile. He should reach out to his blood family.

FannyCann · 26/04/2020 16:51

Cross post Fleas Grin

Nikhedonia · 26/04/2020 16:55

And to be clear, by similar to her character I meant the arrogance, perceived importance and that they seem as a couple not to be able to identify their own hypocrisy.

Not the committing crime stuff, obviously!

ArchePenguin · 26/04/2020 16:55

You mean Charles Spencer? He of the three wives?

CallmeAngelina · 26/04/2020 17:03

I wonder how much contact Harry still has with Diana's sisters now. I think one of them was in the Christening picture. But now?
Or has he cut out both sides of the family that Meghan never had.

KayakingOnDown · 26/04/2020 17:06

Just watching that Westminster Abbey footage - Harry looks like a serial killer, consumed with rage, not even trying to put on a front. It's embarrassing. Meanwhile Meghan is by his side grinning like a Cheshire cat. So utterly fake. It makes their relationship seem very artificial.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 26/04/2020 17:08

I agree with Nikhedonia that the Mike and Rachel characters in Suits were quite annoying. However, it was a great acting job for her to secure after presumably years of trying.

Rachel/MM was very attractive but not exceptionally so amongst a cast of similar women. Which leads me to believe that it's the royal glow that people are seeing now. It has a transformative effect.

FannyCann · 26/04/2020 17:11

You mean Charles Spencer? He of the three wives?

Exactly. WinkGrin

KaronAVyrus · 26/04/2020 17:12

Harry behaved like a 12 yr old at Westminster. Most adults are perfectly capable of hiding the fact that they are in a bad mood for a couple of hours. I manage for 8 hrs at a time every time I go to work 😂

Lordfrontpaw · 26/04/2020 17:14

It’s part of the job isn’t it? Smile and wave, smile and wave...

FannyCann · 26/04/2020 17:14

He moved to South Africa to avoid the UK bad press didn't he? Life in a gated compound.
Then again I believe he likes to read and study and write books so he might not find that so limiting.

RosesandIris · 26/04/2020 17:24

They seem a terrible mismatch. Like Charles he needed a calm, stoical, practical and good-natured woman with a sense of humour. He is not remotely academic, he is the sort of person who needs to burn off stress with outdoor activity, and have fun with someone. Meghan seems so far removed from that person. She is very driven and has a huge ego.
I really cannot see Harry being happy in Malibu*

Yes to this

RosesandIris · 26/04/2020 17:26

Charles Spencer lives at Althorp. He has done for years. He moved back from S Africa a while ago. His fourth (?) marriage is happy . He seems to have taken a long time to find himself, maybe like Harry. I think Harry is quite close to the extended family, but keeps it quiet.

BalloonSlayer · 26/04/2020 17:34

36 days together is not much but remember living together & really getting to know each other is relatively new in our society. It was practically unheard of when I was a child. And there were plenty of successful marriages.

FannyCann · 26/04/2020 17:35

I was being a little ironic in my suggestion RosesandIris He has had a chequered romantic history as well as life experience of running away from the British press to a gated compound overseas.
Probably not what he meant when he talked of Diana's blood family helping the boys so that their souls can sing openly.

"And beyond that, on behalf of your mother and sisters, I pledge that we, your blood family, will do all we can to continue the imaginative and loving way in which you were steering these two exceptional young men so that their souls are not simply immersed by duty and tradition, but can sing openly as you planned."

BlueChangling · 26/04/2020 17:35

I don't think Megham would like Harry reaching out to the Spencer side. Her MO seems to be to keep him all to herself as much as possible.

nuttymomma · 26/04/2020 17:37

In fairness to H&M, my Dsis and BIL had only met that many times before getting engaged. Their courtship was long distance via Skype and email and a similar amount of time between meeting and marrying. There are a few personality traits that we don't like about BIL that we weren't aware of before but largely they are happy.

peppermintcapsules · 26/04/2020 17:39

The other issue is her age. She's even older than Catherine, who's a few months older than William. She wouldn't have time for a long courtship because of course they had to have at least one child.

Jillyhilly · 26/04/2020 17:55

I liked Rachel and Mike in series 1. But wow, did those characters ever go downhill with their humourlessness and self-obsession. I still can’t believe I watched it through to the bitter end - what was it, about 40 series in all? Certainly felt like it. Also, the clothes/heels of the female characters were so unbelievably tight/high - I tuned in partly to see what insane outfits they’d be wearing.

But yes, M is a terrible choice for H. Sad, really.

SliAnCroix · 26/04/2020 18:12

wow the scowl on Harry leaving the church!
