Is there something seriously wrong with him?

Completely derailing the thread but genuine question- Has Harry always been hated by the British public or has this hate developed since his relationship with Megan? I'm actually really surprised how much hate has been thrown at him recently as I always got the impression that he was liked and accepted by the British? What have I missed ?

Clariana · 19/04/2020 19:35

Perhaps a better question would be, "Is anyone listening to Harry talking?"

I know I'm not.

Cannyhandleit · 19/04/2020 19:35

No @cherry just since he married an American actress and the daily mail made him public enemy number one!

2kool4skool · 19/04/2020 19:36

Piss off Harry

WickedlyPetite · 19/04/2020 19:40

He need to bore off with his "soooo proud of Britain" comments, from his celebrity bolthole in Hollywood.

BubblesBuddy · 19/04/2020 19:44

It’s because he’s not stayed here and has given up things he previously said meant the world to him. It looks very two faced and he should have stayed and supported the Queen. Most people don’t read the Daily Mail and truly wishes them well and welcomed Meghan. However it appears she didn’t really want her new role. He’s now given up virtually everything here for La La Land. He over-states the press intrusion. Yes there are some very poor examples but he takes way too much notice of it and could have built up a huge reputation for his work with the armed services - if he had stayed. He’s privileged. He had a job to do but he wanted something else so people don’t feel he’s one of us any more.

Hi Cherry. I thought Harry and Meghan were great at first and that she'd be good for the RF. Beautiful, accomplished and used to publicity. Then I started to notice some irritating habits that individually aren't much, but collectively grate. For example, hanging on to each other constantly, not meeting Trump (but attending Trooping) the same week, taking lots of extended holidays (from what!), announcing their plan to cherry pick what they wanted to do in the RF and seemingly not collaborating with the RF at any conjecture. Coyly 'hiding' Archie. Taking Frogmore Cottage when clearly they weren't going to live there.Ditching the military evening in favour of Harry on camera pitching for a Disney role for his wife. There are many more examples which involve collaboration with paparazzi and just everything they seem to do appears to be for their own gain.
Just my opinion, but I think the pair of them are a bit embarrassing - he suffers from lack of intelligence/judgement and she is a social climber of the highest order. Just what I think!Grin

Justmuddlingalong · 19/04/2020 19:59

Meghan could cure cancer and single handedly wipe out war and poverty
Really, they can't deliver a bag of bloody shopping without posting a photo to prove their relevance and saintliness?

Lordfrontpaw · 19/04/2020 19:59

I got the impression he was trying to be nicey nicey as the reaction to ‘see ya later fuckers, were off to LA!’ wasn’t quite as hoped. I just thought ‘who cares, do shut up’.

Gingerkittykat · 19/04/2020 20:02

Maybe he has been on Mumsnet and seen the sniping, covid police and panic mongers.

He is talking about the good in people's responses, especially in relation to the armed forces and not minimising the effects of the virus.

It didn't take the Fail long to get Megan and Harry back on their front page, maybe if people just ignored them they would go away.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/04/2020 20:04

@cherry2727
My feelings are about him right now. He massively disrespected his grandmother and his whole family. I felt terribly sad for him when his mum died and always wished him well. He’s turned into a spoilt impetuous child. He’s lost the plot. The what Meghan wants, Meghan gets mantra is awful. Look where he’s ended up. He wanted a quiet life.

@AngryRedhead
Yes that is the bs rolled out to try to silence people. Nice try. I was so looking forward to Meghan breathing something new and brilliant into the rf. Loved the wedding etc.

Nishky · 19/04/2020 20:13

I lost all respect for him when he spoke rudely to that reporter in South Africa.

Obviously he has very good reason to despise the press - the press ruined his army career - but to publicly humiliate someone who is doing their job is unnecessary.

ElspethFlashman · 19/04/2020 20:13

I just think he's turned very preachy and he's veering dangerously close to being a "don't believe Fake News thats critical of me" type of person.

I do think he has quite the ego. He desperately needs to be Important with a Capital I.

I also think that whilst he has the right to live wherever he wants and live as a celeb, it does feel like he wants to still claim the right to sound off like he's got a Union Jack running through his veins. It's always galling to be lectured by ex-pats from a great distance on a country you are living in every day.

I honestly don't think he's capable of not putting his oar in. He needs to be heard so badly. It's all feeling very Duke of Windsor.

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 19/04/2020 20:13

Bloody hell. Poor bloke. Poor Meghan.

Why is it a surprise to everyone that when you bring a child up in the public eye and treat them like some kind of god that they’re going to grow up believing that they are some kind of god?!

And as for Meghan, if you had to go to hundreds of charity visits where you’re constantly required to express sympathy lest you get labelled an uncaring bitch, then I’m sure you might get caught in a few fake poses.

No wonder they want shot of it all.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 19/04/2020 20:22

He really is empty headed. And I think very unhappy.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/04/2020 20:23

If she didn’t like the role she married into, maybe she should have tried social climbing with a sleb instead of a royal...

Inspiralcarpetry · 19/04/2020 20:27

Trouble is, they don't want shot of the money and the status/titles. Not for nothing have they been nicknamed cash and carry.
They are still to my understanding, taking public purse money for security and being financed by his father. Crown money has an uneasy historic link with being taken over the last how ever many years from the nation's people.
I just think as a PP said, they are definitely in Duke of Windsor territory in terms of a lack of any definitive role and taking 'an allowance'.
I'd have respected them more for leaving everything (including the titles and the allowance) and living quietly just as Meghan and Harry, making their own money NOT off their connections and titles.

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 19/04/2020 20:32

Maybe she genuinely liked him. Maybe she had a ridiculously naive idea of what it would be like. Maybe it’s human nature to take money when it’s offered to you.

Maybe she thought she could do the job then realised she was shit at it.

None of these human traits warrant the vitriol that either of them get.

Gregoria67 · 19/04/2020 20:54

I agree with a lot of what Inspiralcarpetry has noted, but also to add to it - it was odd that she refused to meet Trump (and we all heartily understood why not) but that she then held a private audience - except widely reported audience - with Hilary Clinton.

Surely if you're going to dip out of politics, you dip out of politics? No exceptions.

Easilyanxious · 19/04/2020 20:55

The media are behaving shockingly at the moment he's right what he said

PerpetualCircle · 19/04/2020 21:09

I thought he wanted a private life, wasn’t that the point if leaving the BRF? You would have thought that the worry of his father contracting Corona would have made him more sensitive about the situation.

LetTheCabbagesDie · 19/04/2020 21:11

It's getting pretty tedious. People constantly say that anyone who has an issue with MM has an issue with her because of her race.

Toilenstripes · 19/04/2020 21:13

Better question is why are you reading the daily mail? Is that where you get your information? Tsk tsk.
