Is there something seriously wrong with him?

He needs to bore off. He trots around after that controlling wife of his like a robot with a chip in. He's a complete nob.

WinnieTheW0rm · 20/04/2020 08:27

Incredibly bad timing to release this. It's just so trivial given what the average person is facing at the moment

Good point!

Jillyhilly · 20/04/2020 08:27

God. That letter, its ghastly self-congratulatory tone, the photographed hand-in-hand food drops, Harry’s statements about Major Tom. Everything they do confirms their shallow narcissism. They are spending their pandemic obsessing about their press coverage, with no understanding of what others are going through. It’s truly fascinating.

TeaMilkNoSugarThanks · 20/04/2020 08:28

I wish they'd unbend sufficiently to hire a decent PR. Or even just a sub editor to edit down the word salad. They seem well-intentioned but way too caught up in their bubble to see how they're coming across.

But they won't, because No One Can Be Trusted.

ArchePenguin · 20/04/2020 08:28

I aim to please @Defenbaker Wink

So, Kate’s having another baby and it’s a girl? (Ibt article, link above).

😂😂😂😂😂

The thing is, I think HaM are doing us all a favour. My DH could be unemployed in 3 weeks time, but by God, those two are the gift that keeps on giving and are doing a fantastic job (said in a Trump voice, yes, they’re incredible) of distracting me from the shit and the fan. They are doing a public service by providing great entertainment for the rest of us. They don’t have to keep releasing these statements. They don’t have to pontificate on podcasts. They don’t have to spread their wisdom during Very Important phone conversations with Very Important Hoaxers.

If One really wants to be The One then Haitch needs to channel his inner Keanu, the ultimate A Lister who gives away a significant proportion of his self-made wealth to charity and manages to maintain quite a nice private life, actually, without banging on and on about three unbelievably tragic deaths in his life.

Harry. Be More Neo.

BarleylemonPenguin · 20/04/2020 08:32

custardbear - Great post Grin

RosesandIris · 20/04/2020 09:01

I just wonder what the public think in the US. Will they be seen for what they are, or will appearing on Oprah Winfrey etc make them seem like Very Nice and Important Peoole?

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 20/04/2020 09:02

Arche they really are the gift that keeps on giving. 🤞🏼 For your DH.

Atleastthedoglovesme · 20/04/2020 09:08

Why won't they just go away?

Dumb, uniformed narcissists.

"We are encouraged that" is very much a RF phrase. That's a Harry contribution.

astrogirl99 · 20/04/2020 09:41

Makes you wonder what these publications had on these two, that they're trying to 'get in front of' this week. The timing makes zero sense otherwise.

WickedlyPetite · 20/04/2020 09:44

Haha, that letter.

They're really struggling aren't they? Coronavirus has ruined their plans and made them irrelevant.

So now there's this drip feed of nothingness.

Nobody:....
H&M: "Archewell" blah blah, we feel "compelled" to tell y'all blah blah.

Nobody....
H&M: We're going to have "zero engagement" with these UK Papers, blah blah.

They just won't go away, will they. I await their next unprompted uninteresting announcement in approximately 2 weeks time.

Hoppinggreen · 20/04/2020 09:47

I have no issue with them at all, I think they were treated quite badly by the British press and that was partly down to racism. I also thought that if they wanted to go off to America and start a new life outside the Royal family then good on them, although I don’t think they handled it very well
BUT I really do wish they would just shut up and bugger off now - they want to be Private citizens or whatever but still want to be famous and relevant. It’s like they want to be left alone - until they don’t want to
As for feeling “compelled” to announce the Archwell Foundation (shite name) as we went into Covid lockdown, that was pretty crass and awful.
I really hope that if nothing else Covid will make people lose patience with this celebrity whining and attention seeking (looking at you Sam Smith)

Fefifofaff · 20/04/2020 09:56

I have a strong feeling the wrote that letter themselves and possibly just had someone sanity check it for them
Sadly whoever it was didn't do a very good job. 😂

Wheresthebeach · 20/04/2020 10:00

they’re like a couple of mean teenage girls that keep announcing who they aren’t talking to in the playground in loud voices. Pitiful, undignified, and narcissistic to the extreme. They are unravelling much faster than I thought they would.

miri1985 · 20/04/2020 10:01

Dan Wooton (suns royal correspondent) has said that Omid Scobie (bazaars royal correspondent) was one of the people who's been selling stories about them to the tabloids

RosesandIris · 20/04/2020 10:05

Interesting. I’d never heard of him before.

SkaraBrae · 20/04/2020 10:07

His systematic media attack is starting to sound Trump-like.

Most of the negativity in the UK press has been against the government's lack of preparation and strategy.
Should we just ignore it?

Packingsoapandwater · 20/04/2020 10:21

Harry, has been taught better I'm sure

I think the events of the last few years have shown that he hasn't been taught much at all. It's actually astonishing how disastrous their media engagement is. They are pretty much destroying their own brand singlehandedly.

I get the impression that Harry has been shielded from the reality of the sheer amount of work it must take Buckingham and Kensington Palace to keep the image of the Monarchy on an even keel. I suspect his only experience of this in-house public relations system is when it has prevented him from doing something he wants to do, so his feelings towards it are possibly slightly stroppy.

The thing is that one of the key tools the Monarchy has with the press is the ability to use the threat of restricting access to major stories in order to prevent other stories from being printed. With this letter, Harry and Megan have thrown the tool out of the window.

I actually feel quite alarmed at how the situation is unfolding. The two of them are way in over their heads in a catastrophe caused by the culture clash between Megan's naive ideas of the US media and the actuality of the British press. Everything they do aggravates the problem, and I don't think it will stop until it's beyond dire, at which point there really will be no way back.

Again, I'm really astonished how little Harry seems to understand about his position. I can't imagine the child of any other other major commercial, industrial or political family misunderstanding their family's business to this extent. He seems wholly blind to what the Monarchy actually is.

NameChangeInfinite · 20/04/2020 10:23

Oh dear, that letter ShockBlush

Tone deaf is a polite way of describing it. It’s as if they’ve taken the worst of stiff RF language and mashed it with the worst of California speak into a bilge of narcissistic nonsense. I’m cringing for them.

WildCoastalWolf · 20/04/2020 10:24

I wonder if they are worried about what's going to come out during this litigation with the Mail and getting in front of it with this letter- to remind everyone that whatever the tabloids print is lies and not to believe it. Or maybe they are looking for a settlement and not getting it. They tend to have knee jerk furious reactions when they don't get what they want.

The timing of this otherwise makes no sense. Who in the right mind, with their level of privilege and wealth would be publicly whining about themselves at a time like this. The self importance is staggering.

SkaraBrae · 20/04/2020 10:24

Meghan is supposed to be interviewed on Good Morning America today?
Apparently it is a prerecorded segments about her voice-over for Save the Elephants.
I'm going to sound like a h8ter here, but isn't it appalling timing?
People are dying all over the world and we should be talking about elephants?

RosesandIris · 20/04/2020 10:34

packing
Your post is spot on.
