Sophie is very deliberate in her action. Good for her. Grinning in church is just stupid and inappropriate. Ugh

FiveTwoFaster · 28/03/2020 22:15

I love Sophie. The clip of her on her birthday at some event and her interaction with W, K and Princess Anne whispering to Kate that it’s Sophie’s birthday, shows that they all really genuinely like each other. It takes time to get that with your in laws but the warmth of all their greetings was real - and I think shows, that if you are hardworking, can take the flack of the press and stay the distance, they are probably quite a nice family to be part of.

BelleharePenguin09 · 28/03/2020 22:17

I remember that birthday clip. She was so sweet and kept thanking W and K “Thank you” in ordinary voice. Delightful. The interaction was lovely.

DandyPenguin · 28/03/2020 22:18

You’re welcome.

It’s not the best quality video but if you zoom in you can see it play out in stages;

  1. They’re all watching the act that’s performing, probably on the big screen
  1. The camera goes on them and Meghan notices on the screen and immediately beams for the camera - you can clearly see the moment she does this.
  1. Sophie slowly swivels to give Meghan her a half-raised eyebrow “Really???? bitch-slap look
  1. Meghan sees on the screen Sophie is looking and instinctively turns to look at her
  1. Meghan sees from Sophie’s expression she’s busted and looks down.

Trust me, ain’t nothing accidental about THAT.

BelleharePenguin09 · 28/03/2020 22:18

an ordinary

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 28/03/2020 22:18

Yes, I see it now. It looks a lot more pointed in slo mo.

RosesandIris · 28/03/2020 22:19

Oh my goodness. Meghan looks abashed. Sophie is no fool.

Meghan is ever the actress seeking the camera.

DandyPenguin · 28/03/2020 22:21

Yes fleas it does and you have to know the context, that MM was watching herself on screen.

Inspiralcarpetry · 28/03/2020 22:22

Thanks so much for that clip. That was brilliant! I thought when I first watched the footage that Kate, William and Sophie were frosty with H&M. God I'd love to know what's really gone on behind the scenes, although what it looks like is H&M gone totally rogue and caused one hell of a lot of headaches and ructions due to their self centredness. Meghan looks so utterly false and undignified in this clip here.
I really love these royal threads Smile

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 28/03/2020 22:24

Sophie looked pissed that Edward was bending over backwards to chat to M as well. There's a bit when E is chatting and sophie's body is turned away and there's a stiff expression on her face. Certainly seems there's no love lost.

derxa · 28/03/2020 22:29

Certainly seems there's no love lost.
And no wonder.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 28/03/2020 22:29

I think Edward has natural good manners, so was making small talk. Meghan was focussed on looking amazing, as if everyone loved her. Sophie takes no shit, gives her the stink eye...
Wills and Kate meanwhile are in the front row so have perfect excuse not to look behind, or over their shoulders, apart from the people immediately behind them - who are E and S.

derxa · 28/03/2020 22:30

Sophie worked in PR. She's got the measure of Ms Markle

5LeafPenguin · 28/03/2020 22:34

I was looking at this from last year.. I didn't read it at the time, but given how things have turned out I thought it was interesting the focus given on the Queen making sure that Kate's position as a future queen was recognized.

www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/7695724/royal-wedding-meghan-markle-difficult-behaviour/

I thought Sophie and Edward were both working hard at the Commonwealth service and showed good manners.

DandyPenguin · 28/03/2020 22:35

She certainly does have the measure of her and that clip make it clear. And Meghan clearly knows Sophie has the measure of her - her reaction was not one of bafflement as to why Sophie was looking at her like that. Which proves to me that Meghan was putting on an act and playing to the cameras.

ARoseInHarlem · 28/03/2020 22:40

Marvelous clip. Thank you for finding it DandyP!

I don't subscribe to the full extent of vitriol against MM. Only the part that uses Britons and the RF to her personal advantage. Oh, and the arrogance in thinking that she alone, in two short years, could change an institution that has thrived for a thousand years (an arrogance which it seems she now wants to extend to the entirety of the human race with the sort of platitudes you see on the side of bottles of over-priced juices sold at yoga studios up and down the country).

If they both want to move to LA and join the overcrowded ranks of the wellness industry at a time when many people are trying to just survive (forget thrive), well why not?

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 28/03/2020 22:40

God I'd love to know what's really gone on behind the scenes

So would I, although at the human level that we can all relate to, I can imagine that some of it is along the lines of:

Increasingly fragile Queen is sad and stressed for some time over DOE failing health.

Queen further stressed by huge Andrew press coverage/drama

Then H&M use the opportunity to be bloody disrespectful to Queen without thought for any of that and the hurt it would cause/headllines

Force Queen's hand rather unceremoniously to deal with their arrogant demands.

Queen hurt but resigned over H, but W and PC have to step into help resolve crisis cause not fair to Queen

Then after bogging off, H&M return, but cause fuss over not being treated as full Royals in procession.

Everyone is pissed

Then to add insult to injury M grins breezily like a Cheshire cat in church and at screen and chats to Edward like nothing has happened and they're all good pals.

Janus · 28/03/2020 22:41

OMG, have you lot not got something more important to worry about than picking on these two? There’s people I think I don’t particularly like but then I stop myself or tell myself off if I get carried away because I remember I don’t actually know them! Stop this nastiness.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 28/03/2020 22:43

I guess, if you are as beautiful as M is - which she undoubtedly is - and have used that to your advantage to progress your career - which she undoubtedly has - it must be very difficult to suddenly have to fit in with the constraints of other, older, protocol driven people - the grey men in suits etc.

All those years of hustle (nothing wrong with that) and you marry into this potentially enchanting world, and discover that your husband's older bruv has the top job and you have to get on with his wife who has a very well hidden but admirable core of steel, and has also produced not one but three heirs to the throne...

Janus · 28/03/2020 22:43

And if you believe anything the bloody Sun writes you need to really look at how horrific their journalism is.

TeaLibrary · 28/03/2020 22:44

I feel sorry for the protection officers that are still having to guard them. Taxpayer funded bodyguards should be withdrawn as of 1st April when Mr and Mrs Mountbatten become private citizens. The pair of hypocrites are both still flying around on private jets. I'm not happy as a taxpayer to fund any aspect of their lives.

derxa · 28/03/2020 22:45

Stop this nastiness. Meghan and Harry are awful people. I wish they would just go away.

Janus · 28/03/2020 22:49

Have you met them or are you getting your information from our awful press?? You do know everything is twisted?
Can you just stop and try and ignore them if they irritate you?
Times are so hard now, just worry about the important stuff surely??
