“In my lifetime we have seen global wildlife populations decline by over half. Africa’s rapidly growing human population is predicted to more than double by 2050—a staggering increase of three and a half million people per month. There is no question that this increase puts wildlife and habitat under enormous pressure,” the prince said in his speechh*.

Although i'm fascinated by this subject, I'd be happier if we didn't see or hear about Meghan and Harry for a while. I just want them to find their own house and focus on Archie for a bit. I wouldn't blame Meghan if she stayed in Canada and didn't come back. Corona virus and all that. Let the drama die down.

FizzyLimes · 01/03/2020 16:33

Williams speech was about flora and fauna conservation and urbanisation.
He wasn’t telling people to have fewer children.

Encyclo · 01/03/2020 16:38

His comments were construed as a warning about the terrible effects of overpopulation. Considering Prince William is expecting his third child with wife Kate Middletonn*, many were quick to criticize the royal for being “hypocritical.”

He got a lot of backlash form that speech on overpopulation.

I can't find a single quote from Harry's alleged speech at camp google.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/03/2020 16:41

I wouldn't blame Meghan if she stayed in Canada and didn't come back

Neither would I, derxa; as said on the other thread, I'm really not sure what the point is in her being here at all now it's clear her interests lie elsewhere and it's unlikely she'll be engaging with the British end of things

Just let them both go, so they can decide if what they've chosen is going to work for them long term

PelicanPie · 01/03/2020 16:46

Oh, just found this! i started another one so now we've got two going!

Checking in

Following on from the discussion on the last thread

Duchess of Cornwall will not be known as Queen when her husband Prince Charles ascends the throne, the palace has confirmed

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-8062263/Duchess-Cornwall-known-Princess-not-Queen-Charles-crowned.html

Wise lady.

FizzyLimes · 01/03/2020 17:23

That’s interesting that the Camilla title issue has been addressed Today; given it was only being discussed a couple of days ago on the last thread.
The RF are definitely covering their arses.

MrsJoshNavidi · 01/03/2020 17:43

Also checking in Grin

DandyAF · 01/03/2020 17:49

@PelicanPie hope you don’t mind me starting this, you weren’t on the thread at the time so I cracked on! Happy to delete if you want to use yours?

Interesting wording -
Clarence House confirmed she'll be known as 'Princess' when Queen steps down
I thought the Queen would never step down - maybe she's having a re-think. If so, I don't blame you Ma'am!

PelicanPie · 01/03/2020 17:59

dandy No that’s fine. Just so long as there is a thread I don’t one mind who started it! 😁

DandyAF · 01/03/2020 18:08

Yes I noted the press coverage on Camilla - interesting timing!

As for H&M not brining A to be fair if she's only here for a short while I probably wouldn't subject a small child to a long flight/jet lag.

More generally I agree they are best staying in Canada/the US for a while, stop the press leaks and dial down the drama.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 01/03/2020 18:14

Interesting statement - are these threads being followed?

Thank you for the new thread.

WinterCat · 01/03/2020 18:19

I thought that about Camilla as well. Interesting the Palace felt the need to address it. I wonder whether people really would mind if she was queen in the way that (perhaps) there was more apposing at the time they married.

DandyAF · 01/03/2020 18:32

You’re welcome Tiara.

Interesting timing indeed. Perhaps a Daily Mail journalist is following these threads, saw that question and then asked the palace.

That's very interesting timing on the Camilla question

Clarence House confirmed she'll be known as 'Princess' when Queen steps down

That does make me suspicious of how the question was asked and answered. The Queen won't 'step down'.

If she was going to step down she'd have done it by now. She believes in God's plan for her life and she won't go against that

ajandjjmum · 01/03/2020 18:48

I always thought that too lyra - but I just wonder if at the age of 94 (shortly), with all the grief and hassle she's going through, and no longer with the physical support of her husband, she's just had enough. I don't mean that in a 'couldn't give a damn' sort of way, but physically and mentally she's just worn out.

It would seem odd for Clarence House to say 'step down' when they actually mean 'dies'.

lyralalala · 01/03/2020 18:49

I think it’s more likely it was someone who couldn’t bring themselves to say the word “dies”

I firmly believe that she wouldn’t step down, or if she did we’d be told of a regency due to failing heath. “Step down” just isn’t a phrase she’ll ever want associated with her reign

DandyAF · 01/03/2020 18:50

‘Step down’ is more diplomatic than ‘dies’ Grin
But it might be sloppy reporting.

I agree, the timing is strange.I wonder if something is afoot?

ajandjjmum · 01/03/2020 19:00

I'm sure you're probably right. I'm just over-thinking. I understood that all Royal statements are checked and double checked for stuff like this. I would have expected it to say 'when PC accedes to the throne, Camilla will be known as.......', so my mind is now wondering whether they are trying to quietly hint that abdication may be something that the Queen is considering.
