Carrying on the conversation as the last thread finished mid-discussion.

I remember reading about the queen regularly spending her time with her great/grandchildren. Watching tv with them, taking them on pony trots and hiding a new toy for them each time they came to stay. One had no idea she was the queen until someone at school dropped the bombshell Grin

PelicanPie · 03/03/2020 10:56

I think Meghan is really angry with the rest of the family for whatever reason and is using Archie as a way to punish them. Just my impression. Also think they want to avoid any photos of Archie being obtained in any way.

SussexRoyalTies · 03/03/2020 11:03

What was wrong with my post? The child will have no close relationship with either family, cousins etc and then gets left behind. It’s all rather sad and I feel sorry for the poor little chap.

PelicanPie · 03/03/2020 11:08

Harry is supposed to have had a four hour meeting with the Queen last Sunday. At least he’s seen her.

Froq · 03/03/2020 11:20

Also think they want to avoid any photos of Archie being obtained in any way.

I think this is the main reason. We’re going to see a spread in People or Vogue etc for his 1st birthday with a huge price tag on those exclusive photos.

WinterCat · 03/03/2020 11:27

I agree about wanting to keep Archie out of the public eye in order to make money from him and his image.

GracefulHippo · 03/03/2020 11:59

I believe Froq is right. I had a very stern, strict grandmother (I know nothing about the queen, but can imagine that she had to be quite strong and made of stern stuff to have done the amazing work she has).

When my grandmother got older and more towards the end of her life, she got a stronger love for buds in spring, family and indeed babies. I think it was a sign that life went on. I think the queen would have loved to see Archie. She looks like she loves Harry very much in all the photos I have seen.

GracefulHippo · 03/03/2020 12:02

My previous post was referring to Froq and her comments on the queen and her grandchildren.

I hope there will be no spread in vogue about Archie. If H&M have sold pictures of the child whose privacy they purport to protect whilst not taking him to his grandmother (or indeed publish one or two photos for all royalists in a country which is paying millions for their security), I will lose all respect for them.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 03/03/2020 12:18

I think you may have hit the nail on the head pelican

Clearly having a huge wedding, being invited to Sandringham whilst engaged, decent royal patronage’s weren’t enough!

I hope the royals heal whatever rift there is.

Allflightscancelled · 03/03/2020 12:19

Who even cares about pictures of the baby? He's just a baby. No different from anyone else's.

If they want to keep him secluded for security reasons, totally understandable and fine. They should do whatever they think's necessary and I don't care as long as I don't pay the costs of doing it. Because it isn't just about my 50p a year or whatever it is, it's about how everyone's 50ps mount up and what really desperately needed things that could pay for, that would benefit the wider community.

But if they keep him secluded so they can later make a fast buck, then I think that tells us all we will ever need to know about the pair of them. I'm starting to think I know it already, but I'd like to be proved wrong.

DulciUke · 03/03/2020 12:38

Not a fan of H&M, but I can't slam them for not taking their baby on an airplane during a time when many people are curtailing their travel plans due to coronavirus. Of course, they may have left him home anyway, but there's no way of knowing for sure.

TheMustressMhor · 03/03/2020 15:21

Maybe they are leaving the baby behind because of jet-lag and possible coronavirus.

FazakAli · 03/03/2020 16:32

If there was a genuine fear of the corona virus, then surely H&M would limit their international travel? They are putting themselves at risk and also risk passing it onto Archie with all the international travel.

Wheresthebeach · 03/03/2020 18:38

Private jets, empty train carriages reduce the risk!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/03/2020 18:40

Harry is supposed to have had a four hour meeting with the Queen last Sunday.

Which he asked for. I suspect it was less about catching up with Granny and more about trying to negotiate their position.

Butterymuffin · 03/03/2020 19:04

Two hours to persuade her to cover their security costs, two hours to show her pictures of the Malibu houses they want her to buy them one of

HarryDaylight · 03/03/2020 19:40

Why do the press know about the four hour lunch and what was discussed?
Whose press office was involved? It seems like public manipulation to me.

DandyAF · 03/03/2020 19:48

Yes but by whom - Windsors or Markle? The plot thickens.

OP posts:
Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/03/2020 19:48

It probably isn't too difficult to establish that there was a four hour meeting at lunchtime, or that H asked for it. I would have my doubts about any leaks re what they discussed.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 03/03/2020 19:48

Would like to have been a fly on the wall for that meeting.

PelicanPie · 03/03/2020 19:50

I do find it odd that even the lunch is described . Poached salmon and salad apparently. The BP machine at work methinks. Their PR team is a lot more switched on than the Sussex PR team.
It’s all about emphasising that H and M are loved and wanted so M can’t continue to spin it the other way as she has been trying hard to do.

PelicanPie · 03/03/2020 19:51

How do we know H asked for the meeting?

DandyAF · 03/03/2020 20:01

The Commonwealth Day Service they have coming up - since the Day is organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society, I imagine the turnout may be affected somewhat by the coronavirus! Seen nothing in the press about that though, but surely with an international contingent it’s going to be a concern ...

OP posts:
DeRigueurMortis · 03/03/2020 20:16

I was think about his 4 hour meeting with HMQ.

Fair enough obviously and I won't speculate what was discussed.

That said it strikes me the people he should be speaking to are his father and brother.

He's still expecting £2m plus handouts from his father per year and in the not too distant future PC and PW will be the decision makers.

Upshot - it's all well and good showing deference to Granny but there's no guarantees that any position she chooses to take will be upheld by her heirs.

I suppose discussion could be happening in private but there usually (as per the visit with HMQ) is some reporting of this. Odd that there isn't re: meeting PC/PW.

HarryDaylight · 03/03/2020 20:24

I think it's odd that this lunch date was reported in the press, when I would imagine there are many meetings taking place at this time between the Sussexes and the royal family.
I also wondered at the term "meeting" rather than lunch.
