Let’s strive to keep on topic and not engage with posts designed to disrupt.

Oh pants, I missed the sing-song!

I've caught up with the rest of the diversion into royal heritage and history now. Fascinating, thank you Seneca, Lyra, DeRig and everyone else. I know I joked about "Royality for dummies" yesterday and someone has linked to DeBretts earlier but, seriously, is there a good primer for better understanding the current Royal family (House of Windsor) because I'd like to do some more reading on the subject?

(as an aside - Dandy I went to Waitrose yesterday afternoon but didn't meet the Duchess of Cornwall so the Duchy's goods are all still safe and I've not been arrested for high treason Wink )

PelicanPie · 01/03/2020 11:42

Meghan sent him shoes and a suit. She was asking him to try them on in the week before the wedding.

It has been reported how often MM and Doria meet up, see beow. It's hardly surprising given MM's age, or that she lived in Canada and because she didn't live with Doria from the age of 11. All that Middleton "Walton family" closeness comes from never really being apart. Even when Kate lived in London she flat shared with her siblings. There is a very, very long list of people I would rather flat share with than my siblings, possibly running to billions.

DandyAF · 01/03/2020 11:49

Can I just say, I called the Met Gala thing threads ago. Her eye was always on that prize. Of course it may not happen, but it won’t be for wont of trying on MM’s part.

Waspie · 01/03/2020 11:49

This is great Shoes

How the queen can say a thousand words about the situation (and show Harry how she cares) without saying a single one.

What a lovely, decent, caring, very clever lady.

It reminds me of Michelle Obama and "when they go low, we go high"

I have no idea how accurate that article is. But it's true that in your 30s living in another country you probably would not be seeing that much of your mum. MM had a lot of pics of herself with her mum on the tig. Also, just a small correction, during Thomas M documentary he claimed to live with MM at some point in her teens, and the documentary made a comment that despite his claims, it's not true that MM was living with him at that point, she was infact living with Doria. Then they went on to show MM bedroom at Doria's house full of MM possessions. You would also note that the casual home videos of TM with MM at home were all based in April and May of 1993 - there is a few exception of course of special occasions like school plays and graduations.

PelicanPie · 01/03/2020 11:55

I read that too and also thought it was lovely! Also have been thinking about that quote in relation to the Queen.

Waspie I am very glad to hear it. We would t want you locked away in the tower. Wink

Good on the Queen.

More like HM trying to show the rags that there's no ill will between her and Harry. Just another made up stunt to sell papers.

TheYearOfTheDog · 01/03/2020 12:02

Is she really participating in a documentary that airs on the 10th March??

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 01/03/2020 12:03

OK, after this I will scroll on by but it is widely known and accepted that MM lived with TM throughout her teenage years. You seem to be a huge fan so I am not sure why you wouldn't be aware of this. And we had long distance in-laws and twice a year was as much as we ever met up, and this is perfectly normal as I have said which is why pretending anything else i.e. "the indispensable Doria" was ridiculous.

The efforts by MM fans to get these threads deleted are getting more desperate. I will not engage. If you want to spew nonsense, go for it.

DandyAF · 01/03/2020 12:09

Mummy195 IKR? And Meghan got the Commonwealth Band to sing it as tribute long before Bon Jovi even released it as a single.

Was not so much a fan or hater either. But I found it weird that such a hard working young royal who did so much in such a short time was being targeted. Upon looking further I realised that most of the stories were just not true. I am shocked by the staggering smear campaign. And how people perpetuate and repeat it.

I don't ever recall H&M saying Doria is indispensable - though she may be, who knows.

What I do remember was that the rags pinned Sussexit or Megxit as they call it on her. Or was it Oprah or Meghan. They are not really sure, but they do know it's a black woman for sure.

Waspie · 01/03/2020 12:34

Isn't this a good thing Mummy?

Just another made up stunt to sell papers.

It's not made up, it definitely happened Confused

Your two sentences appear to contradict each other - either it's a made up stunt by "the rags" or it's HMQ showing there's no ill will. My personal opinion is that it's the latter.

Mummy195 · 01/03/2020 13:07

Waspie
Yes, it's a good thing.

What is made up is that there is any ill will at all between TQ and H&M. TQ is not fuming. And the use of the word 'banned' is probably not what was used - I will believe that when I read it from TQ statement.

In other words, the beef never took place.

Butterymuffin · 01/03/2020 13:10

Where did you see this? I didn't see Doria blamed for tbe decision to leave. Or Oprah. Any links?

Mummy195 · 01/03/2020 13:11

As Americans would say :
There is no 'beef' between The Queen and H&M.

Mummy195 · 01/03/2020 13:23

Surprised you missed the 'silent but steady' headlines all over the place regarding Doria

www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1233511/Meghan-Markle-news-Prince-Harry-Megxit-Doria-Ragland-royal-split

Oprah had to come out and deny that she is the one who advised on it.

Mummy195 · 01/03/2020 13:25

actually it was a snide, 'silent but steely'

DandyAF · 01/03/2020 13:37

“The rags” in this case is Fox News Mummy. Not the British tabloids.

Mummy195 · 01/03/2020 13:45

Fox News is Trump supporting, and I am guessing Anti Meghan.

FizzyLimes · 01/03/2020 13:55

Meghan has a documentary due to air in the US the day after the Commonwealth service.
It’s about how she has been racially abused in the UK.

I think the timing after her last public appearance as Duchess of Sussex; is interesting

Mummy195 · 01/03/2020 14:02

Erm Fizzy

This is not FROM MM. It's ABOUT her.

FizzyLimes · 01/03/2020 14:14

This is not FROM MM. It’s ABOUT her

The documentary is produced by ITN productions

This is the same team who made the Sussexes Africa documentary last year. So I’d be amazed if it wasn’t made without Meghan’s consent.
