Time, have you seen the tiara thread? It was set up as we kept bringing up tiaras. It is brilliant Smile.

There is a pretty tiara on the meghanonline.com page as well, so sparkly

@Winterlife Give over with the 'troll bait'! Its been made clear its best to engage with a point, but avoid personal attacks - like calling people trolls.

For instance, I found your posts earlier in the thread dissecting Meghan's appearance to be misogynistic and a sign of a weak argument. Seriously, please leave it out!

ilovejeffgoldblum · 27/02/2020 14:03

Please can all poster engage with points and not make personal digs!

TimeLady · 27/02/2020 14:03

Yes, I have popped over to the tiara thread. Fascinating.

Re the H&M saga, I'm assuming Harry's inheritance will be topped up again when his grandparents pass on. His current ££trust fund comes from money received from his mother's and his great grandmother's estates, I believe. I would imagine all HM's grandchildren are in line for some financial provision for their futures.

Paul Burrell on Loose Women Grin

Sorry Jeff, but that would be funny !

ilovejeffgoldblum · 27/02/2020 14:05

Ok hippo , it would be funny 😁.

GracefulHippo · 27/02/2020 14:09

Time, I think they are all very well provided for. As a PP said, I think it all depends on lifestyle.

If they are happy to live in a big (inherited) house or smaller (bought) house, wear cheap, but good quality clothes, have 1-2 holidays a year and eat at home a lot, they are fabulously wealthy. They can even send their children private.

If they want to live in a big, bought house abroad, wear expensive clothes, have multiple holidays a year and travel the world for holidays or indeed raise awareness for their charities, they need a lot more. Especially if they want to travel 1st class or private jet for a proportion of those travel.

Harry was at a Rebound Therapy session yesterday. Some lovely smiley pictures on their Facebook page.

Bluntness makes very good points.

I am not a royalist. I genuinely couldn't care less about the royal family but I do think that Harry and Megan have created a PR disaster for themselves and I don't see how they can blame anyone else. Before this situation kicked off I honestly couldn't have told you the name of either Prince's wife or any of the children (still don't know the children's names actually). But this fiasco has brought even people like me into having opinions on Royal stuff.

My main issues with H&M:

  1. Hypocrisy over the "Royal Sussex" brand and the monetizing of the RF
  2. Hypocrisy over the environmentalist claims
  3. Hypocrisy over the idea that they want to be self financing whilst taking most of their income from Prince Charles and costing the British tax payer millions to fund security half way around the world.

As a well known Royal I accept that the tax payer has to fund Prince Harry's security in the UK and whilst on official engagements but I don't accept that we should have to fund security for ex-Royals half way around the world. Rich people fund their own security.

If Prince Harry was worried about environmental issues he wouldn't fly on private planes; he wouldn't chose to commute half way around the world every few weeks in order to lecture others about climate change. He would stay in the UK where he wouldn't need to travel very often by air at all.

Their PR is a total disaster! They need to appreciate that they are handling this very badly, step back from the public eye, stop with the media leaks which are making them look like petulant children and formulate a decent plan for moving on with their lives. They then need to rebuild some bridges with their family and the wider public by showing some humility and apologizing.

I really don't see how this could have been more badly handled Sad

HarryDaylight · 27/02/2020 15:25

Exactly, Waspie. I wish him and his family a happy rest of their lives, but don't want to have to fund it. He is undeserving of my taxes.

Their obfuscating of when they are going to repay the money they owe the UK taxpayers for the Frogmore renovation and the lack of clarity regarding the scale of monies involved in paying for their security is bordering on obscene, when that public money could be put to so much better use.

PelicanPie · 27/02/2020 15:41

Could someone post a link please? I can’t find the pics.

I’m definitely pro-Royal, interested in the RF, and my less-than-friendly feelings about H&M initially arose mainly from the fact that they were so precious about letting the general public see or have any significant information about Archie - when people’s wish to do so came only from a place of goodwill and affection (at that stage). The same sort of goodwill and affection that many of us feel for William and Kate, who have always been far more generous and have taken the sensible step of regularly releasing their own (Kate’s) photographs of their children, avoiding unnecessary photocalls for the children and welcoming the legitimate interest and warmth of the people of the UK and Commonwealth. The message that came across to me from H&M’s actions was pretty much, “Take that, peasants!”

H&M have now compounded their unattractive behaviour by showing disrespect to the Queen and the rest of the RF, and by saying “Sod the lot of you – we’re off!” to all of us as well. I’m not sure how they could redeem themselves but I don’t think they even care to try.
