• websites that aren’t authorised by H&M themselves
• talk of drugs, homeless shelters, police cuts if in relation to H&M funding
• talk of M pregnancy or spending on outfits
• discussing rumours or gossip
• resentment

There seem to be two groups,
a) one group that thinks that H&M should get everything they asked for and that they have been badly treated
b) one group which thinks that H&M has shown disrespect to the institution of the Royal Family

I wonder what the proportions of royalists are in each group? My suspicion is that group a doesn’t really like the monarchy anyway whereas group b quite like it.

If the assumption above is correct, there is absolutely no PR upside for the RF to be extra lenient with H&M. This would annoy the people who support them. The rest want to get rid of the RF anyway.

Possibly true hippo , I wouldn't say I'm a royalist per say , but I respect the queen .
We pay taxes for the privilege of having the royal family but generally we do get some value for our money. However what value are we getting from H and M if they are not even in the country?
Why should we still pay ? What benefit are we getting?

Can you tell, like all savvy shoppers , I like value for my money!

Back to the policing the thread argument I see! I've not said anything is not allowed. I would like it if it was made clearer that racism, misogny and spite were not 'allowed', but I think MN are doing their best and hopefully they'll be able to keep finding ways to prevent the viler posts.

Some posts are harmless gossip, some are thoughtful debate but the 'sticking the boot in/twisting facts for fun' type dominate the threads. I've never said that should be disallowed but people will challenge it, and point out it has an impact if its done on a public forum, especially here where there is a sense of the 'MN spirit' that might be lacking in places like Tattle.

It is silly, but easier, to suggest I'm attempting to ban things than actually consider that maybe what you're doing isn't just jolly good gossip, but could actually be harmful.

So you portray it as policing, or being a killjoy instead.

After some reflection, I think Meghan and Harry are poor maligned souls and we, the tax payers should give them millions for doing bugger all. In fact I'd gladly give them my life savings to ensure that they thrive.

I do like the institution of the Royal Family. I took the children to Buckingham Palace during the summer. They saw the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition (brilliant) and were amazed by the horses and cars in the Royal Mews. We had a fabulous day out and bought some brilliant tat in the gift shop. All three DC are proud owners of pens with a royal crown on them!!

Ohh jealous ! I like to see the sights , but I'm a bit city phobic , crowds make me nervous.

This is a big 'misunderstanding' I think:

The differences lie in how people think it's acceptable to treat people and facts online.

You could think they've been disrespectful, don't deserve a penny and explain it without any racism, misogyny or spite.
