Does anyone want a thread for people who are happy for Harry and Meghan? Thread 2

DaveCoaches · 23/02/2020 21:26

I wimped out of the other thread title I planned as I thought it might look goady.

But please let’s keep it as the reality-and-let's-avoid-idle-speculation-and-reliance-on-dodgy-sources thread (thanks Seneca!).

I prefer to think we've moved on from the days when the RF could command silence, but sometimes I have to wonder ...

The palace certainly had that Prince William rumour silenced PDQ. Not that there was any evidence for that, though there isn't much evidence for various things Meghan has said or done either!

Encyclo · 29/02/2020 22:55

Could you imagine if that rumour had been doing the rounds about Harry, or even worse Meghan?

The press would have had an absolute field day!

Cerseirys · 29/02/2020 23:30

As would have Mumsnet. It made me laugh how the posters so sure that William couldn't possibly be stepping out on Kate were the same ones rushing to condemn Meghan on the strength of tabloid reporting and blind gossip threads.

Encyclo · 29/02/2020 23:42

The same blind gossip and media sources that posters insist are nearly always proved to be true,
in H&Ms case, are talking absolute bollocks about William apparently.

PortiaCastis · 01/03/2020 09:09

There are some foul websites out there peddling bollocks for clicks but hey people believe them so I guess they don't care that they're destroying a person but wouldn't like a dose of their own medcine

Samcro · 01/03/2020 12:37

I hope we are going to have another thread after this onee.
can i suggest the thread title.
Harry and Meghan a thread for positive post only

drina27 · 01/03/2020 12:46

Stepping out on? What does that mean?

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 01/03/2020 12:54

It means to have an affair.

Mummy195 · 01/03/2020 12:55

Samcro

This is a great idea.

But I wanted to say that it's rather unfortunate as I would rather talk about just the positives, but because MM is so vilified while KM is an angel, can't help but compare the two's actions.
I will try not to, in that next thread....................

But for now, let me air a few things regarding the comparison between the two. lol

At 17.23 yesterday, I had meant to say to you that the BP did not report on the 'shrug' from K to W. But made such a big deal on H telling M that the song has started on the balcony. She turned around and looked respectfully morose like everyone else at the balcony. So did the kids in front of her who were messing about. But this was on every news, discussions on TV, they acted like the Sussexes were about to divorce. lol

But the K & W thing. Crickets.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/03/2020 12:59

I hope we are going to have another thread after this onee

Why not? After all, at least folk have remained reasonably polite on this one, even if they disagree

You might struggle with the "positive only" suggestion though, since threads meander naturally and none of us get to dictate what's posted and what isn't. That's HQ's job, and all they seem to ask is that posters follow site guidelines

Mummy195 · 01/03/2020 13:01

Also, you will have noticed that hot on the heels of Australians saying they don't want to fund K&W visit for bushfires, the DM was quick to contact Canada about H&M security.

www.msn.com/en-au/lifestyle/lifestyleroyals/two-thirds-of-aussies-are-against-taxpayers-funding-kate-and-williams-royal-tour-to-bushfire-affected-areas/ar-BB10orBs?li=AA2FZ8I

Samcro · 01/03/2020 13:23

@posterPuzzledandpissedoff
your right. but it would be nice if the people who don't like them stayed away....it won't happen I know.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 01/03/2020 13:27

I'm sorry samcro , it would be nice 👍,
Said same on other thread but no choice their either!

Cerseirys · 01/03/2020 13:28

Well Meghan is back in town and making appearances from Thursday so it's not like there won't be at least two threads on the go condemning her for not wearing her hair up or waving with the wrong hand or something equally tedious!

LaurieMarlow · 01/03/2020 13:34

Shall we take some bets on what she’ll be pulled to bits for?

I’d say bringing Archie / leaving Archie is a virtual cert. Whatever she does will be evidence of her terrible parenting.

Encyclo · 01/03/2020 13:38

I was happy to see Harry getting a decent enough press this week, (DM/Express notwithstanding). I'm hoping it continues. Archie will be the issue whether they bring him or not.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/03/2020 14:28

I can see why Meghan wouldn't want to bring Archie, but was surprised to see someone post the HM nd Philip would be "upset" not to see him

Of course I could be totally wrong and they might be pining for a cuddle, but TBH neither have ever struck me as that type - after all it appears unlikely that they even see much of each other now, so I'm not sure where the drive to see the little ones would come from

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/03/2020 14:30
  • that HM and Philip ... duuuhhh!! Blush
Encyclo · 01/03/2020 14:32

Puzzled, I think that's just another way of pushing the whole "they might die soon and it's all H&M's fault!"

LaurieMarlow · 01/03/2020 14:34

Of course I could be totally wrong and they might be pining for a cuddle, but TBH neither have ever struck me as that type

Exactly.

But to be honest, I think most people would acknowledge that in the abstract, it’s just another useful stick for beating Meghan with.

He’s a great grandchild. They have 7 anyway. Neither of them showed much interest in babies through the years, even their own.

I’m sure they’re pleasantly disposed to him and all that, but the whole ‘they’ll be devastated’ narrative is ridiculous.

Roussette · 01/03/2020 14:50

Agree of course they won't be devastated, I bet they don't see the GC regularly let alone the GGC.

And the Queen was away from her own children a lot... the older two especially, they were almost brought up by nannies. There's 10 years between them and PA and PE, and I think she was more flexible when the younger two came along. So what I'm trying to say is... I doubt very much she is devastated not to be seeing little Archie.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/03/2020 14:53

Very true, Laurie; as with Encyclo's example, there are some who'll use anything at all to "prove" what stinkers H&M are - and conversely, others who'll insist they're beyond reproach no matter what they do

Fortunately, for most of us, it's all a bit more nuanced than that; we can even discuss things without constantly reverting to avocados, Wimbledon positionings and bump holding Wink

DandyAF · 01/03/2020 14:56

I’ve stayed off this thread as I hold both critical and non-critical views of Meghan & Harry and you want it to be positive only. It would be wonderful if can you extend that ethos to include not slagging off other threads. It’s almost like one or two want an argument.

@Mummy195 why don’t you set up your own thread comparing the treatment of Meghan v Kate instead of shoe-horning it into other threads? You could even specify it’s to be “pro-Meghan only” if you don’t want your opinions challenged.

Mummy195 · 01/03/2020 15:00

Laurie
Bets on the head lines are :

If M brings baby A : 'Meghan risks Archie's life taking a commercial flight amidst Coronavirus'

If M leaves baby A behind : 'Meghan leaves Archie behind, denying devastated Queen and Prince Philippe last chance of seeing him during their last few years.'

If M takes a private jet, saying she is protecting baby A from Coronavirus : Well, all hell breaks loose

DandyAF · 01/03/2020 15:04

It would be odd for Meghan not to bring Archie after she didn’t bring him in January either. Prince Charles is his grandfather.

Fair enough if there’s a risk of coronavirus but then the sensible thing would be for M to stay with him.
