I wimped out of the other thread title I planned as I thought it might look goady.

But please let’s keep it as the reality-and-let's-avoid-idle-speculation-and-reliance-on-dodgy-sources thread (thanks Seneca!).

Samcro I wish I hadn't done it! All. Day. Long. Singing this song with H&M in there instead of Tommy and Gina:
Harry used to work on the docks, union's been on strike
He's down on his luck, it's tough, so tough
Meghan works the diner all day working for her man
She brings home her pay, for love, for love

Encyclo · 28/02/2020 19:35

In other Royal/Bon Jovi news, the band of the Scots Guard played Living on a Prayer and It's my life during the Changing of the Guard today, to celebrate the Invictus single.

That's really lovely.

Samcro · 28/02/2020 19:48

Oh no
Now i have its my life in my bloody head

Mummy195 · 29/02/2020 13:32

Been watching the news these last few weeks and it's jarring that so many reporters seem to have a personal vendetta against the Sussexes, especially Meghan.

While MM has been away. The British Press has NOT reported that Kate

-went and moaned about how tough motherhood is, despite having an entourage of nannies. I had to learn about it on twitter and it was shown on American TV. Pity party is how it's described when MM talks about her troubles. Infact Kate was praised for being open on her podcast.

-no report on her flying luxury private jet to Belfast last week. All this after their tour saying they wanted to repair the earth.

At this point I believe that K&W can do anything, and they will be praised for it.

Meantime, there were some snarky chuckles from reporters about H&M trademarking Sussex Royal a while back. Pops at how they spent so much money on that. My thought was surely, they did not use their own money, but the SR budget and to protect the brand from squatters and since they registered SR as a non-profit with a charity number, then the profits were never for their pockets but the charities that SR supports. The press also forgets to mention that The Cambridges also did the same.
Obviously at the beginning, they had thought they would work the same as the Kents, Yorks etc. who have their own jobs, authors of books etc. but help HM with some duties, so H&M through SR for charities.
I don't think they were having a pop at HM regarding the use of the Royal name on their statement, but maybe stating facts to the press and possibly cabinet with their narrative of "banned".

Watching GMB the other day they had this DM editor who insisted that H should have Skyped to the Travalyst event. Even suggesting he should have swam across the ocean from Canada. He seemed annoyed to learn H travelled commercial and took the train. ( the media never report it, but H is the cheapest royal who regularly takes commercial and only took the private that time due to threats on Archie's life). Then saying it would be good if he visits HM and do other things while here. All weird, since Harry spent all day at Edinburgh, had the Bon Jovi gig in two days and will be joined by Meghan for another week and a half for a whole host of events. The guy looked personally spited. He was salty af.

I wondered if playing that song like that was HM saying move along nothing to see here. We are all good despite what the press say. I just imagine H having a convo with her and PC and saying that their statement was a finger up to the grubby press about being banned.

SenecaFallsRedux · 29/02/2020 13:55

editor who insisted that H should have Skyped to the Travalyst event

That's funny. Maybe they could all just Skype their royal visits. That would save a lot of money and minimize their carbon footprint. They could have a proxy at the other end cutting the actual ribbon and whatnot.

Mummy195 · 29/02/2020 14:10

The host of the event - when Hazza met Hazza- explained how appreciative everyone was with how much time and energy he was dedicating to the project, considering he's the main person for it.

And of course, they would have been criticised for looking down and not bothering to turn up if Harry did not go, they (Meghan would have been blamed as always) .

Encyclo · 29/02/2020 16:51

That's the first I heard of Kate taking a private jet.

God that must be infuriating if you try to
Do the right thing and are STILL vilified (commercial/train), meanwhile Kate's hopping on private jets.

Roussette · 29/02/2020 16:54

Mummy195 Very valid post of yours at 13.32 and I totally agree.

Once the knives are out, that's it. There must be a huge sense of frustration that certain things that K&W did passed by unnoticed, and when H&M do the same, it's time to stick the boot in.

PortiaCastis · 29/02/2020 17:12

I wonder why the press so obviously attack Meghan and leave Kate alone, seems like there's an agenda there somewhere.........

Shoeshelpplease · 29/02/2020 17:14

But wasn't a lot of the issue with Harry being that he was flying by private jet to events such as the google conference which was specifically to talk about climate change. And he was using these events to tell people to reduce their carbon footprint by doing things such as, not flying so much.

As much as I was a fan of Harry prior to that, it was his utter hypocrisy, his sense of entitlement, his ability to think he could preach to the lower classes etc that made me stand up and think he is on another planet. And I think that was a general feeling amongst others I know.

He wants to be Greta Thunberg, then he must act like her and behave as he expects others to behave.

Samcro · 29/02/2020 17:23

Do you remember that tv thing PW and K did with mary berry
Imagine the back lash if iH&m had done that

LaurieMarlow · 29/02/2020 17:47

William has also spoken out about climate change. As has Charles. Repeatedly.

They both take private jets and helicopters with abandon.

It only appears to be hypocrisy when Harry does it.

Shoeshelpplease · 29/02/2020 17:52

I agree they are all hypocrites.

It was the google conference right there in your face hypocrisy that I think woke many up to it. It was almost laughable.

Politics should be separate from the royal family.

LaurieMarlow · 29/02/2020 18:00

Well I was very struck when W&K took a helicopter to go see a melting glacier in Pakistan to ‘raise awareness of climate change’.

The media barely mentioned it.

PortiaCastis · 29/02/2020 18:01

How did Greta Thunberg get to the UK yesterday, we know she took a train to Bristol so thats on GWR which is mostly electrified but her travels are extensive so her carbon footprint is hardly zilch
All the royals gad about on planes and Charlie boy quite often flies down here (Cornwall) by chopper and he's been preaching for years about green issues so can't see why he's not picked on too

Encyclo · 29/02/2020 18:08

William lectured people on over population when his wife was pregnant with their third child.

PortiaCastis · 29/02/2020 18:13

Well yes that's a point and there are an awful lot of Royal children, in fact I'm not sure who is the Queen's grandchild or great grandchild anymore.

Encyclo · 29/02/2020 18:17

The new rules only seem to apply H&M Portia

PortiaCastis · 29/02/2020 18:20

Haaa Dua Lipa made a tune for them.......Got New Rules got New Rules
Sorry couldn't resist that one......Grin

Cerseirys · 29/02/2020 18:24

FWIW I thought the Cambridges arranging for a photographer to be present as they boarded a budget flight to Scotland, while the media hype over Harry's private jets was at its height, was an exercise in pointless point scoring. I couldn't believe the media and general public fell for it. If I was the Queen I would've rung both brothers and told them to stop being so bloody childish and to just sort things out!

PortiaCastis · 29/02/2020 18:27

I'd like to know why those new rules only apply to H&M though because it does seem awfully like bullying to me

Encyclo · 29/02/2020 19:02

FWIW I thought the Cambridges arranging for a photographer to be present as they boarded a budget flight to Scotland, while the media hype over Harry's private jets was at its height, was an exercise in pointless point scoring.

It was such an obvious exercise of "Look how good we are"

I'm said it at the time an was shouted down.

WinnieTheW0rm · 29/02/2020 19:05

The previous steps back (the Wales and York divorces) were negotiated over years and finally announced at the conclusion when arrangements were made. The timings of this all went to cock, and even with a review in a year, they have exited far more swiftly than anyone else. That's a win, surely?
