Thread 18?

Froq · 17/02/2020 10:48

I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

You're brave froq!

I see that a bit on the RF website about Harry is directing unwitting visitors to a Chinese porn site... mistake or a disgruntled redundee?

Froq · 17/02/2020 11:28

Grin that’s one way to detract attention I suppose!

Perhaps it’s linked to this blind...

Blind Item #3

She spilled all of his secrets before for tabloid cash. Does anyone really think she is done spilling them if the price is right? Whether it is his bedroom fetishes or deals he is about to make or people he is going to talk to. She wants her own money. Prenup money is not what she has in mind. State money is what she has in mind.

Where did thread 17 go? Confused

Froq · 17/02/2020 14:14

I’m not sure what happened. I returned to a deletion message that mentioned bunfighting though.

A shame as we have managed to keep 16 threads going so hopefully we can avoid a repeat of 17 this time.

OP posts:
niveaessential · 17/02/2020 14:31

thenightsky someone made a nasty comment about Archie.

I usually lurk on forums but I wonder why some people believe that Meghan is behind all this because they think Harry isn't smart enough or capable.

Harry was a pampered rich privileged teenager who knew he'd never have to work for a living, so why should he study? that doesn't necessarily mean he's stupid, I mean is it really that easy to fly a helicopter?

just curious

Froq · 17/02/2020 14:43

I’ve never really bought into the dim Harry thing.

I think there’s a better argument for assuming Meg is behind the move into the celeb world based on their backgrounds.

He’s always been vocal about avoiding the media and wanting to live a private life. She’s a celeb. They’re now living a celeb life. It’s not too big of a leap to suggest she has been an influencing factor.

OP posts:
yolofish · 17/02/2020 15:47

I think he's a product of his upbringing tbh. Clearly not stupid - as can fly a helicopter which, god knows, I couldnt - but he does come across as Tim Nice-But-Dim a lot of the time (and ftr, I bloody loved TNBD, know so many exactly like him!)

yolofish · 17/02/2020 15:47

"Bloody Nice Bloke though!"

IrmaFayLear · 17/02/2020 17:19

Do these threads get deleted on purpose ?

yolofish · 17/02/2020 17:59

Depends on whose 'purpose' I think Irma?

Some people think it is all (unneccessarily) bitchy.

Some people think some bits are really funny.

Some people would like to consider the taxpayers £ in all of this.

Personally I'm in all of those camps!

(and I can't spell the unneccsary word...)

WinnieTheW0rm · 17/02/2020 19:31

When is 'spring'?

Is it expected that the big Commonwealth meeting will mark their final Royal engagement? (And when is it? Early next month?)

Blind Item #7

The former alliterate royal wants an honorary doctorate. That is part of the deal she is trying to swing in addition to some type of honorarium.

Possibly another reason for the Stanford visit?

OP posts:
yolofish · 17/02/2020 19:50

makes perfect sense froq.

I think 'spring' is the end of March if you are thinking about Commonwealth appts, maybe end of April for the practical issues.

Butterymuffin · 17/02/2020 19:51

Ooh, hello! We're back Smile

Commonwealth Day is 9 March, I believe, and think the church service is that day.

'Spring' is another matter, but as I said previously, I've read somewhere May being mentioned. Seems relatively late but their wedding was initially announced as to take place 'in the spring' and was then May.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 17/02/2020 19:58

I think the last thread was deliberately sabotaged.

Mind you they both looked very happy getting off the plane so perhaps it’ll work out unlikely

MissEliza · 17/02/2020 20:02

I think it was deliberately sabotaged too

Needthechat333 · 17/02/2020 20:07

I also think it was deliberately sabotaged! So happy to have found you all again. These threads have been so entertaining ... of course, aside from the obvious purposeful detailing.

I’m so curious as to what will happen next with H&M. Are they going to put a foot out in the right direction or will it be another cash grab wrong foot? Time will tell!

Given the state funding, we all have an interest. If they stepped away from that, wouldn’t attract the same level of scrutiny

Froq · 17/02/2020 20:35

Whilst I didn’t see the thread go down I can fully believe it was sabotaged. Maybe we can agree on ignoring any future details so as to allow MNHQ to delete the offending post whilst we all carry on chatting.

I guess it gets difficult for MN when people repeat the offending post and/or reply to it. Too many to delete = zapped thread.

Re their funding, I’m still curious as to how they plan on being financially independent. Will it be income from speeches? Because I can’t see that lasting.

OP posts:
Froq · 17/02/2020 20:35

Details = derails

OP posts:
DivinationDandy · 17/02/2020 20:44

It wasn’t just about the offending post Froq MNHQ said it had turned into a bunfight. There were lots of posts criticising posters, and some about M&H that others didn’t like, it seemed to turn into a critical mass in terms of reporting; is reported one post and got an email from MNHQ apologising for the mass email but they were informing all of us who’d reported that they’d had so n MN any reports they were taking the thread down.

And yes I think it was deliberately sabotaged. Some posters have an agenda, and it involves adopting a persona, playing the long game or being a Trojan Horse.

On the subject of personas, I’ve always thought that Harry is on board with this plan. I think I he wanted to be have the Royal recognition with not much of the responsibility, but I’m adamant he wouldn’t have married Meghan if he didn’t want an international, celebrity-esque lifestyle. IMO it’s misogynistic to suggest she’s trapped and deceived him or making him go along with a plan he doesn’t want to.

DivinationDandy · 17/02/2020 20:49

Btw I opened up my iPad today to find nearly the whole of the Thread 17 on there in one long page Grin I usually always use my phone so had forgotten it was on there.

Froq · 17/02/2020 20:55

Ah I see, thank you for explaining Dandy. Easy to see why it was deleted.

It’s difficult not to pin Meg as the brains when Haz gave his dramatic speech about ‘every camera flash, every click and it takes me right back’ press trauma. Similar to the interview he gave whilst serving in the army about wishing he could disappear and be normal. He portrays himself as anti-celeb world as you can get.

But you’re right, he wouldn’t have married Meg if that was the case.

It wouldn’t be the first time his behaviour contradicted his words though (e.g. hunting buffalo and preaching about conservation) so we shouldn’t be too surprised.

Queen's nephew the Earl of Snowdon announces divorce

www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2020/02/17/queens-nephew-earl-snowdon-announces-divorce/

It’s like they’ve all gone ‘fuck it. If Harry can quit and move to Canada I’m getting a bloody divorce’.

So glad that the thread is back.

I have mixed feelings about the whole Goldman Sachs thing. On the one hand--wrong crowd and wrong venue if they are sincere about their philanthropic aims. On the other hand, how are they supposed to raise the money for Frogmore Cottage and their own security detail without doing such events? Of course, I have my doubts that Frogmore Cottage will ever be paid back...
