No harm in having it ready for the next event/announcement...

They sound like hard work tbh! Crown Grin

Someone needs to cancel the cheque Crown Grin

Froq · 02/02/2020 19:33

LA is the perfect place to hide from the press and media after all Hmm

I remember reading an interview she gave where she said she’d love to have her own cooking show. I’m guessing it’ll appear on Netflix not long after the move.

Ouch CNN! I thought the USA media were supposed to be kinder?

I remember reading an interview she gave where she said she’d love to have her own cooking show.

That wouldn't be so bad. There's already a Barefoot Contessa. Why not a high heeled Duchess?
She could have Duchy Originals ingredients flown in specially.Grin

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 02/02/2020 19:54

Looking at the video embedded in that CNN story I'm struck with how effortlessly M finds the cameras in the step and repeat section. It's really fascInating how her eyes scan for the cameras and she strikes dozens of little facial poses as she hits them. Very professionally done.

It makes me rethink the smiling for the pap shots in Canada. She certainly knew what she was doing.

DandyAF · 02/02/2020 20:15

Being pedantic/accurate (choose which you prefer), that article isn’t by CNN, it’s by CCN.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 02/02/2020 20:20

Being pedantic/accurate (choose which you prefer), that article isn’t by CNN, it’s by CCN.

OopsCrown Blush thanks for putting me right Dandy, that is rather different.

DandyAF · 02/02/2020 20:49

Lol yes it is. I was surprised that CNN piece would have such a harsh heading ... Crown Grin

(Not that I think the overall premise of the piece is necessarily wrong, mind.)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, they’re not going to escape criticism and bad media wherever they go. The worldwide web is omnipresent.

yolofish · 02/02/2020 21:34

Ooof, fuck me, that piece is HARSH! So much for the viciousness of the british tabloids...

KayakingOnDown · 02/02/2020 21:40

not going to escape criticism and bad media wherever they go

Especially since their Instagram account is their livelihood now. They are putting themselves out there - that garners comment and critique. That's just how it works. If they truly wanted a quiet life they would shut down all social media. But they won't.

www.insider.com/rare-photos-meghan-markle-kate-middleton-press-dont-use-2020-1?amp

Interesting article. The press only release the unpleasant pictures rather than happy ones of two sisters in law getting on well.

caperberries · 03/02/2020 06:51

Seems like a non-story to me, plenty of those sorts of photos have been published?

Meanwhile, what about Brad Pitt’s joke about calling his BAFTA trophy ‘Harry’ and taking it back to America? Wonder if Harry will see the joke..,

Parker231 · 03/02/2020 07:13

It’s not a non story. It demonstrates that we don’t know anything about Meghan and Kate’s relationship and perhaps they get on well.

caperberries · 03/02/2020 07:17

Well of course we don’t know anything about their relationship? All the indications are they that they aren’t particularly close but I’m sure Kate has been kind to Meghan

Cuttingthegrass · 03/02/2020 07:34

Yes I thought the BAFTA comment was 😳

7Worfs · 03/02/2020 07:58

Did it imply Harry is a trophy husband? 👀

MissEliza · 03/02/2020 08:17

Yes I thought the joke implied Harry was a prize.
The CCN article is interesting because I think it's blunter than most things I've read in the British media yet it's the British media which is supposed to be so mean.

LaMarschallin · 03/02/2020 08:42

It demonstrates that we don’t know anything about Meghan and Kate’s relationship and perhaps they get on well.

Of course we don't and perhaps they do.

But I'm pretty sure I've nearly all those photos in the British press with the same sort of interpretations ( K and M enjoying a girly giggle at Wimbledon; the royal cousins having a day together at the polo etc).

Meanwhile, what about Brad Pitt’s joke about calling his BAFTA trophy ‘Harry’ and taking it back to America? Wonder if Harry will see the joke..,

Hopefully it'll go over his head.

Because if those elephant pictures were deliberately edited, it would seem he wants to give a much tougher, "Action Man" image than that of a trophy husband trundling in the wake of his wife to the US.

DandyAndFine · 03/02/2020 09:39

Yes I’d seen all those K & M photos too in the British media.

LaMa IPSO ruled that the elephant photos were deliberately edited. It was proved that the cropping wasn’t done by Instagram automatically as Harry claimed.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/02/2020 09:49

All of those photos have been published in the British press. All they demonstrate is that they can both put on a show in public. As K&W had to do when Brad made his Harry joke, which I'm pretty sure was an uncomfortable moment for them.

What has caught my attention today is that their highly paid specialist security officers are apparently being used to run shopping errands, pick up takeaways etc. Talk about taking the piss.

I wonder how things would’ve played out if Harry married an A-lister, say Margot Robbie.

Because she’d already experienced what it’s like to be a Hollywood star, would she have embraced the role of Royal and shut the door on personal career aspirations? I think so.

LaMarschallin · 03/02/2020 09:56

It was proved that the cropping wasn’t done by Instagram automatically as Harry claimed.

I suppose I was emphasising "if" because if they were edited by H, one had to wonder why.

Obviously, they were edited by him or someone who helped put them on IG and I was giving one possible reason why they may have been edited in that particular way.

My personal theory is that H wants to be seen in two different ways:

1: the poor vulnerable chap who suffered the loss of his mother and needs special handling because of that. The one who told us the whole UK was happy because Diana's other son was getting married (or whatever the quote was exactly). Were we? Didn't make much difference to me, I'm afraid.

2: the guy who served in the forces, approaches elephants in the wild and is described in the press by his friend Nacho Figueras (great name) as someone protecting his "lioness" and his "cub". H - the archetypal British lion. Roar!

I actually think the NF quotes were sanctioned by H&M, not the RF.
They just didn't realise how it would come across.

But royals acting without the advice of advisers don't have a great track record of knowing how things will go down with the public.

Cf prince Andrew and That Interview.

I really think they still believe we'll swallow whatever they tell us because they're royal.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 03/02/2020 10:02

What I wondered about these reports about the security guys is why are they fetching takeaway coffees for a couple of people in a luxury mansion who presumably can make their own coffee? What about the environmental impact of driving huge SUV's to fetch takeaway food and coffee for two people who have nothing to do all day ? Why can't they cook their own food.? i thought M was a great cook and loves cooking? It's bloody ridiculous.
