No harm in having it ready for the next event/announcement...

Maybe Archie had the squitters and Harry was changing the nappies whilst Meghan was cleaning it up. The guys said “would you like a latte? I can see you have your hands full” and H (that’s what I call him) said that would be lovely, thanks.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/02/2020 10:10

I really think they still believe we'll swallow whatever they tell us because they're royal.

There's a lot of truth in this.

But also in Harry's case he seems to have a very skewed idea of what not being royal entitles him to.

7Worfs · 03/02/2020 10:13

Lol Crown Grin

On a serious note, the woke crowd aren’t famous for their integrity (doing the right thing even if no one is watching). It’s the main reason why H&M suddenly lost public support after barefoot lecture-jet-gate.

CathyorClaire · 03/02/2020 10:13

Maybe the security guys are at risk of being sacked if they refuse?

Interesting that H&M can't seem to draw a line between 'staff' and protection officers. What does that say about their sense of entitlement and how they see the little people around them?

Don't suppose they're too worried about the environmental impact either. Charles doesn't seem to give a stuff (£12K at our expense for a 128 mile helicopter ride). The apple wouldn't seem to fall far from the tree.

DandyAndFine · 03/02/2020 10:15

LaMa yes I thought you were probably using the “if” in a droll way but I thought I’d take the opportunity to remind everyone of Harry’s spectacular lack of Instagram integrity on this occasion Wink

EcocabbyRickShaw · 03/02/2020 10:18

I've dipped in and out of these threads but I'm glad to see they're still going.

I just looked at the CCN link and the comments below it. I'm sorry, because I know this IS a bit mean, but the one that said 'Meghan Markle - the first woman to kiss a prince and turn him into a frog' really made me snort Grin.

LaMarschallin · 03/02/2020 10:25

@DandyAndFine

You know me too well Smile

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/02/2020 10:25

There's that, and possibly they don't mind anyway, but it's a matter of principle.

They can do what they want when they're footing the bill but while they're not, it's very much a matter of interest to the British tax payer, who is, how specialist security officers are deployed. Because if they are not needed for security duties, we'll have them back, thanks.

There were unconfirmed rumours around 9 months ago that a Royal Helicopter pilot had resigned because he was fed up at being used to pick up takeaway food. At the time I didn't really take it that seriously but now that the RPOs have spoken out it does seem to be part of a pattern where they use police and pilots to run errands.
www.practicalparenting.com.au/royal-helicopter-pilot-quits-over-meghan-markles-demanding-pregnancy-cravings

I think it would put the RPOs in a difficult position if they were to refuse as they need to maintain cordial relationships with their protectees and be in the house with them. But on the other hand I don't think it is the tax-payer funded Police officers' role to act as unpaid "Just Eat" drivers. I can't understand why they don't employ a housekeeper or assistant that could run errands.

There is a serious issue as well - the RPOs would be in serious trouble if there was to be an intruder etc and protection was understaffed because one officer was out on a coffee run!

LaMarschallin · 03/02/2020 11:07

According to the report Prince Harry was constantly ordering the un-named pilot to go and fetch “weird” snacks for the Duchess of Sussex,

It's interesting that it mentions H was the one doing the constant ordering.
And possibly rings more true.

I know mega-stars might order in food on private jets but MM had hardly been in a position to do that before.

It must be difficult to grow out of a sense of entitlement if you've grown up with it; I've a horrible suspicion it might be very easy to relax into if it was suddenly acquired as well.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 03/02/2020 11:07

I just think it’s ludicrous that we have two people living in a luxury mansion (who is paying for it?), not working, with a full time nanny (who is paying for her?) and apparently eight security guys . Some of whom are driving off to fetch them takeaway coffee and food. Viva la Revolution I say.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/02/2020 11:11

Can you imagine the headlines if it had been M? Doesn't mean the order didn't come from her. Otherwise why would H ask for it?

7Worfs · 03/02/2020 11:15

H-that’s-what-I-call-him is her human shield, that’s why it’s a proxy-order.
But the amount of staff (or is it “help”?) that has left their household is quite the indication what sort of employers they are.

LaMarschallin · 03/02/2020 11:20

Maybe the "lioness" just happened to mention her desire for something that could only be fetched by helicopter.

You know. Just in passing. Never expecting that it was actually possible to get it.

Never realising that H-the-lion would make sure it would be procured for her and the "cub".

Of course, Nacho's metaphor would break down there because it's the lionesses that do the hunting and gathering.

My guess is that initially H knew exactly what he could get due to being royal and having "people" constantly available.
And M took to it like a lioness to a tethered gazelle.

Lunde · 03/02/2020 11:33

I think that Harry has always lived in a protective bubble at KP or Highgrove with staff to fetch him what he wants - or he was in the army with a very structured life where food etc is taken care of and appears in the officers' mess at regular intervals. He seems to expect that this Royal privilege will just follow him to his "independent" life. Meghan has lived in the real world but seems to be going along with it (perhaps Harry has vetoed her going out and about after the pap strolls the other week).

I'm surprised that this multi-million dollar house doesn't have an Espresso machine or perhaps it does but noone has figured out how it works.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 03/02/2020 11:35

The most recent comments on this thread about Royal Protection/Just Eat officers and lions and lionesses and tethered gazelles have really made me Grin

As I've said before I worked for a very famous person and had reason to be in regular contact with their security team. The thought of them nipping out on the regular for soya or coconut lattes for the A Lister is just incomprehensible. They wouldn't do it and they wouldn't be asked to. The A lister wanted them there doing what they were supposed to be doing ie keeping him and his family safe.

FizzAfterSix · 03/02/2020 11:36

The resignation of the helicopter pilot, fed up with running errands for this pampered petulant pair, never made MSM. I wonder why.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 03/02/2020 11:37

We know M can cook though! I assume Harry can cook too! Or at least make himself a coffee. Takeaway coffees aren’t environmentally friendly either!

Ah.
So the reports weren't true, you reckon?

Butterymuffin · 03/02/2020 11:50

Didn't they employ a chef? Surely they could also get in the appropriate coffee making machine and the actual Starbucks (or whatever brand) coffee for the chef or housekeepers to make them the exact drinks they wanted on site.

DandyAndFine · 03/02/2020 11:50

I’m nicking “tethered gazelle” for my next username. It is a metaphor that speaks to me.
I would be thin and graceful, joyfully running free and stotting wherever I fancy, were it not for the pesky kids keeping me bound to the dry, cracked and relentless soil.

Ahem, as you were.

LaMarschallin · 03/02/2020 12:15

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 03/02/2020 12:33

I don't reckon anything really. Just mentioning my own experience. Maybe they've got much less to do while all secluded on Vancouver Island? Maybe the dynamic is more relaxed? Maybe they did it once and it became a habit? Who can say? I just know It wouldn't have happened in the family I worked with.

LaMarschallin · 03/02/2020 12:41

I just know It wouldn't have happened in the family I worked with.

Fair enough.
I've no experience with this sort of thing and it's interesting to hear from people who do.

Really want to inject you with a truth drug now, to find out more Smile

LaMarschallin · 03/02/2020 12:45

I mean to force you to divulge more under its influence; I don't doubt you're speaking the truth.

Just saw how that might read.
