A thread for those who wish to discuss what's in the news and what your take on it is.

Indeed I am @Encyclo

ilovejeffgoldblum · 26/01/2020 18:09

I blame fairytales, who hasn't heard of the handsome prince?
(Sleeping beauty's Prince wasn't bad though!)
Real life is never quite as good!

MissEliza · 26/01/2020 18:10

I've always thought Harry looked scruffy. The beard makes it even worse.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 26/01/2020 18:10

It's interesting to me how Doria's "don't give the milk away for free" comment is being interpreted as being about money. To me it suggests a different meaning, along the lines of keeping your hand on your ha'penny. It's the sort of advice a mother might give her daughter when going to casting sessions.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 26/01/2020 18:10

Mind you if Chris Hemsworth was a royal , I'd give up anything!! 😉

DandyAndFine · 26/01/2020 18:11

Oh gawd Prince Albert Shock Now there’s someone who deserved to have threads about how he allegedly treated women back in the day.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 26/01/2020 18:12

Reminds me of the saying ' no one will buy the cow , if you're giving the milk away free'

DeTwamps · 26/01/2020 18:14

I think it was Michael McIntyre's show he does on a Saturday or something and Kate and William were in a box watching the show. Instead of trying to explain it, I'll see if I can find a link. It was funny.

Towards the end he jokes about them reading fairytales.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 26/01/2020 18:15

Andrew (the spare) was feted in his day. Look at him now.

Harry (the spare) also feted. Cut & run. Didn’t want to be Uncle Andrew #2. IMO.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 26/01/2020 18:16

De 😂

Becles · 26/01/2020 18:18

@Roussette @rockingchaircandle Keep up the good work Flowers

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 26/01/2020 18:19

That’s funny Grin

SunsetBoulevard3 · 26/01/2020 18:19

Camilla's been lucky enough to have her children and live a reasonably normal life , then marry Charles once her kids had grown up. She has kept her own house, keeps her own family out of the news, and lives probably exactly how she wants to most of the week. She is great at engagements and hasn't put a foot wrong. If she'd married Charles when they were young it might all have turned out very differently.
I really loathed her when Diana was alive but my opinion has totally changed.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 26/01/2020 18:19

Good work?

DandyAndFine · 26/01/2020 18:21

@DeTwamps That made me laugh. I’m not really a fan of MichaelMcIntyre but he is very good at what he does.

Roussette · 26/01/2020 18:24

@Becles thanks Smile

Werking · 26/01/2020 18:25

@Becies Nice of you to interrupt our good-natured and on-topic banter to post that. We wouldn’t want to go more than a page without someone suggesting divisiveness, so your contribution’s appreciated. Wink

katiegoestoaldi · 26/01/2020 18:25

@Roussette @rockingchaircandle Keep up the good work

peaceanddove · 26/01/2020 18:26

Harry & Meghan are perfect examples of 'style over substance'.

God only knows how Harry thinks he can change the world, when he couldn't even pass an A Level.

katiegoestoaldi · 26/01/2020 18:27

I believe the good work comment is because becles is from the other thread where they're discussing and criticizing this one (is that even allowed @MNHQ?) and she's egging them on

ilovejeffgoldblum · 26/01/2020 18:27

Peace 😂** very true!

ilovejeffgoldblum · 26/01/2020 18:29

Katie ahh thanks was confused for a moment what work they had done?
Thought I'd missed something 🤔

Roussette · 26/01/2020 18:30

Oh do give over Katie. I've never come across Becles before, she hasn't posted on the other thread, I appreciated her comment. Stop making stuff up.

rockingchaircandle · 26/01/2020 18:30

I'm not sure if people keep asking me this to be goady but as I was asked so I'll take it in good faith.

I just don’t get what you’re getting out of being on this thread. You disagree with everyone , fair enough. Why don’t you start your own thread with your own views? There has been points where the threads have seemed more balanced, so I don't disagree with everyone here. I've tried to find common ground where possible. I do disagree with a lot of people, but not for the sake of it, and I don't do it aggressively. But I've explained this in depth already. I don't want to only engage with my own views, and this is a public forum. I may have a different style of discussion, it's been talked about upthread. It's not vindictive though. People are pretending I'm demanding cold hard facts about every thing isn't true and in easy way to duck out of stuff. And there's been other stuff dragged in to, using @, using ! twisting words, mentioning other threads etc. Some of it has seemed very childish.

Just give your counter argument I do! I really do this! I also respond to others' posts. But, if it's Pro-, Meghan it's derailing. But I've listened and responded. Otherwise, we'll all just be shouting our opinions into a good void, or clapping each other on the back.

Anyway, I was asked! Smile Always more than happy to discuss, don't like the piling on though! You just enjoy your safety in numbers if it makes you feel good!

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 26/01/2020 18:30

keep up the good work

🤔 hmm, almost sounds like encouraging deliberate sabotage of a thread that remains well within talk guidelines. But why would anyone want to do that?
